GARMIN MOBILE PC
Pros: easy to install multiple waypoints.
Cons: no map updates.
Purchased to use on a laptop as a secondary route planning tool for a motorhome.Immediately familiar to anyone who uses a Garmin GPS in the car.This was chosen over M/S Streets and Trips because it was 'Garmin'. Unless it is purchsed along with a Garmin USB GPS, it can't be 'registered' with Garmin - hence no map updates. This might be overcome by a bit of 'hacking' on a regular Nuvi map update - yet to be proven. Overall, a nice bit of software.

NO WHERE NEAR WHAT NROUTE WAS
Pros: cheap
Cons: not dependable
When I originally got this sw with the GPS20, I installed and used it quickly and it was good and I had even written a review to say so! Well...I must apologize to those who read it! If you give it a serious trial, you'll find that the MobilePC SW is far from NRoute in usability, user friendliness and plain smarts. It hangs a lot, sometimes changes of screen view will freeze the sw and you must restart including restarting the route.

THE BEST MOBILE COMPUTER GPS
Pros: excellent maps, same interface as nuvis
Cons: lacking onscreen keyboard
This software from Garmin turns your laptop or Car PC into a Nuvi GPS unit. I had already purchased a USB GPS puck, and I tried out a dozen different GPS programs. This software won out The only think lacking is the great onscreen keyboard from the Nuvi series, but I guess they expect it to be run on a laptop, not exclusively from the touchscreen.
There is one thing to note, the activation code found in the dvd folder is only good for one computer. Similar to Microsoft's latest software, it needs an internet connection to verify the activation. If you buy it with a Garmin brand GPS puck, it will be activated to that hardware ID. If you buy the software alone, it is stuck to the computer.

Pros: short learning curve
Cons: seams to take a long time to aquire on start up
Worked great with my aspire one by acer. I am using with a gps 18 usb antenna.

GARMIN MOBILE PC DVD
Pros: good gps implementation
Cons: doesn't work with other garmin maps
This is an excellent software product, but with some major disadvantages - it will only work with the map that it comes with. If you use your own Garmin GPS 10x or 20x, it won't work with the maps that have already been unlocked to that device.
So if you already have a GPS (Garmin or non- Garmin), and you wish to use only the map that came with this product, then it is fine.
But if you also wish to use other Garmin maps, then you should rather throw your existing GPS devices away and buy the Garmin Mobile PC product that comes with a 10x or 20x - then you can unlock any new maps to the 10x or 20x that came with the product.
I'm not sure why Garmin did this, this software is actually in conflict with their own policy of always allowing maps to work with the Garmin devices that they have been unlocked to.
