SCRATCH-OFF MISSING PRODUCT CODE
Pros: worked fine with my first two units Cons: lifetime product code missing from card
I purchased the package from this site including the lifetime map updates. This is my third garmin with lifetime updates so I am familiar of the process. When I scratched off the hidden product code the code wiped off too! Now I am asking this site and garmin what to do. Bummer.

GARMIN 2011
Pros: 95% wonderfully helpful Cons: 5% wrong.
The Garmin's usually great--fabulous for finding things in a strange city. But you have to be careful and be at least somewhat aware of where you are, where you're going, and timing. Sometimes Garmin makes a big mistake! I would like directions,ie east, west etc, when saying "drive to highlighted route".

GARMIN LIFETIME UPDATES
Pros: hasstle free and easy! Cons: could only load part of the map with my unit.
I have a Garmin 250W. Follow the directions and it is a snap. It may take a little time, but it was hassle free and made a huge difference. This was my first update from 2009. I could only load the east half of North America due to memory size, but I use the GPS in a 4 or 5 state area so this will not be a problem. If I venture to the west half I will just update to the area that I will be needing.

VERY GOOD MAP UPDATE
Pros: fast shipping, great product
Upgraded my GPS with this card and found more information than I expected (train tracks etc.) I found the Garmin site not easy to navigate and install the programs required to update. It could be because of downloading to an Apple computer not a PC. Overall, satisfied with this product. The product also came the next day after ordering. Now that's fast.

No idea what they updated...I live in Ottawa Ontario, and there is a gas station I have used for the past 6 years, and it is still not on the system. I went to Syracuse NY a few weeks ago, and they listed no Tim Horton's ...when in fact, my nephew said there are 5-6 in his area.

GOOD PRODUCT
Cons: excellent
I don't understand some of the comments on here regarding having to pay for map updates. Garmin is a business... People have to realize the money that is involved in updating these products and all the technology that is involved not to mention the Research and development in creating these units and programs,Who is going to pay for all of this? c'mon people GPS prices have dropped considerably, no one is forcing you to purchase this card. Buy another GPS unit which includes life time maps very simple. If you have a good stable unit and your happy with it then yes this product is an excellent deal.

UPDATE IS A RIPOFF!
Pros: none Cons: map update program
At present, I own 5, yes that's right...5 Garmin GPS units. In order to update maps, I must purchase this same update 5 times! I could throw the GPS units away and buy new ones and come out ahead over the long term. No more Garmin units for me. I inquired if their were any other options and they sent me an email with the part number and told me to shop on line and see if I could get a better deal. Freely translated...Tough break! No more Garmin products for me.

NORTH AMERICA LIFETIME UPDATES
The mapping is very good from what I can see. The proof will come this summer when I drive to Ontario. The installation process can be tricky depending on the memory capacity of your model GPS. The best solution is to download the whole set of map data to your PC and then download whatever areas you need to your GPS unit. My Street Pilot C530 has a limited internal memory. It does take SD cards but according to the Garmin Tech support people I've spoken with on the phone, my unit can handle almost all 2 GB cards. They have seen problems with using some 4 GB cards. My 2GB card works fine. The North American map requires just under 2GB to store all of the mapping. Notwithstanding other comments, maps DO CHANGE! New roadwork is going on all the time. Only regular updates will keep you "on track" and these lifetime updates are the only way to go!

This lifetime update nuvi Map for my particular nuvi 750 was great. It was easy to update my old 2009 map to 2010 map. All I did was to register this product from Garmin web site and activate it with my nuvi 750 and voila, just a few clicks from Garmin map update instructions to follow and it took me 40 mins to have my map updated to 2010. It's all done automatically. I really recommend everyone who wants to save the money to buy this lifetime map update.

QUESTIONAL MAP UPDATE FOR THE STREET PILOT 330
Pros: the lifetime updates if it truely does not expire. Cons: too much info to download on the street pilot 330
Before purchasing this update product, I read all the FAQ's on the site and found that my Garmins memory is too small to download the entire North America and that I would have to choose Canada OR the US. That is why I purchased it because all I need is the US states. When I finally got to the point to choose my download it seems that is does not even have enough space for the entire US and I was forced to choose a quadrant. I was extremely disappointed with this and may not have purchased it if I had known.

REVIEW OF NUMAPS NORTH AMERICA LIFETIME UPDATES
Pros: value Cons: none, except for the shipping charge is high
Well worth the money, easy to install, highly recommended. I've gone through the installation routine three times already once on my unit and two other times on units belonging to friends (3 separate purchases). Shipping was overnight - really fast, I didn't even request it overnight. One little complaint, and GPS City says it's not their fault, that's the way Garmin dictates it has to be, but they charge you about $10 - $12 to ship this little card out and all it has on it is the key number that you enter when you update your maps. Why can't the key number just be e-mailed to the customer at no charge? Why do they physically have to mail you the card with the number on it when all you need is that number?

GARMIN LIFETIME UPDATE
Pros: garmin has the best maps in my opinion. Cons: difficult download procedure from garmin!!!!
Garmin has made some changes in their download procedure from the past. I am quite computer literate and was able to make the download work. My OS is Windows 7 Ultimate. But to do a download I had to change the "UAC" User Account Setting. Without the change I could not download the updated maps, 2 so far. Also the option to install in MapSource and the GPS is not easy to find. You need to be careful as you go through the various screens before the download happens. Also required is a Garmin Plug-in and a special file you need to install and then execute for the download to begin . On the positive side, Garmin has finally included complete and detailed Mexico in version 2011.2 in addition to Canada and the USA. After downloading version 2011.10 I spent almost 2 hours on the phone with Garmin pointing out on their website that version 2011.10 clearly shows detailed Mexico coverage, but I was informed I am wrong.
GPSCity has the best Canadian price for the lifetime update.

Pros: good idea... Cons: all of the above..has not performed as expected
Not pleased one bit. Went to West Penn and West Virginia, and not able to find some restaurants we heard of. Also found back home, 4-6 months later, even after mentioning my disatisfaction...no response from Garmin. It was a wasted upgrade...went to Huntsville Ontario...a town in the Muskoka area of Ontario...known to have 4 Tim Horton's and Garmin didn't record one of them, but wanted to send me 153 km away to what it registered as the nearest. Therefore I am not impressed.

GARMIN NUMAPS LIFETIME
Pros: best price i've seen Cons: none
Works as advertised.
Once registered to a particular GPS, it's 'locked in' and cannot be transferred even if you lose your GPS or upgrade to a newer model.
Gamin map updates require a high speed internet connection for downloading maps. Typical 1-2 hours per update. Beware: slower connections (<1 Mbps) can take upwards of 6 hours per update.

VERY GOOD PRICE
Pros: very easy to use Cons: the card is non transferable.
Easy to use and lifetime free map update (for the GPS you register it) If you buy another GPS you can't transfer the map update to the new one and remove it from the older. But except that everything is perfect.

MAP UPDATE
Pros: convenient save a couple of bucks Cons: you really don't know what you are getting.
Worked fine. Impossible to determine the before versus the after content because there is no list of updates (probably impracticle). You just have to trust Garmin I guess. Trust them like you would trust any corporation.

GARMIN NUMAPS NORTH AMERICA LIFETIME UPDATES
Pros: up-to-date maps Cons: difficulty understanding the down load procedure.
This item is good value for the dollar. However, it is a bit tricky to use initially because of all of the 'protections' that Garmin builds in to safeguard their product and to make sure that anyone is a legitimate purchaser. Once the various steps are understood and followed it does eventually update the maps on your GPS. Because of the large volume of information needed to update the map file, the update process takes a considerable amount of time (about 3/4 of an hour).

As soon as I received the code I needed I started the update. Although it does take some time to complete (quite a large file), it worked perfectly. There were no problems. Great product and I look forward to a long time of constant updates.
The price was better than any other place I found.

BEST VALUE FOR GARMIN MAP UPDATES
Pros: price, quick delivery. Cons: found some roads were not updated.
This Lifetime of updates for Garmin GPS units sells at other places for $20- $30 more than GPSCity does. Many places sell only the "One Time" update for nearly the same price.

GARMIN NUMAPS LIFETIME UPDATE
Pros: lifetime updates Cons: slow download and poor garmin support
Would not recommend without very high speed internet. Tried once with satellite download. Only 1/3 downloaded in 9 hours. Contacted Garmin and was given only generic help that did not solve my problem. Tried again to download and was told that I had already redeemed my update - which I had not. Contacted Garmin again and received another polite but generic answer, not specific to my inquiry. Tried to download again. This time I was successful after 4-5 hours. Not worth the time and support from Garmin was poor.

GOOD VALUE - STILL SLOW TO UPDATE
For the price, the lifetime updates are worth it, although as usual, Canada's road updates are slow to get into the updates - Ring Road around the North side of Calgary is not in the latest updates, but I suspect that it will appear soon, and I can then update my device without having to purchase another update. Shipping times are outstanding from gpscity.ca, as usual

MAP UPDATE DOWNLOAD PROBLEM.
After installing product key the map download reported an error message and to contact Garmin. This I did and after speaking with 2 technicians I was told that the problem was with Garmin's download software. I was told that Garmin would look into the problem and that it should be fixed within two days. The following day I tried to download the map update and it downloaded as it should have - apparently, Garmin had fixed the problem. No one from Garmin ever called me back, as promised, to follow up.

Pros: none Cons: see above
I am not at all sure whether the product was effectively updated or not?? When I tried to inquire at the Canadian help desk, I was kept waiting for over an hour each time & gave up! Cons: garmin is not updating there maps software quick e
I purchased this update to keep my GPS up-to-date. The first thing I noticed was that the Anthony Henday Freeway in Edmonton, where the link going east from Gateway Boulavard (Calgary Trail) to highway 14 still does not appear to be there. GARMIN LIFE TIME UPDATES
Pros: updates are always nice! Cons: too restrictive should be transferrable.
So far I have owned multiple Garmin GPS devices over the past three years. My first one got stolen, the second one I gave to my brother when I bought a new wide-screen version and the third I purchased for my motorcycle. I also have a Garmin Forerunner which downloads to my computer and it would probably need map updates.
I agree with one of the previous reviewers comments that the current license rules for this lifetime update are too restricted. I would prefer some sort of option whereby I could keep ALL my Garmin GPS devices updated, not just one for the price they are quoting. I don't think they have thought this issue through properly from the customer's perspective.

Pros: can't see any Cons: service and response disgusting
After receiving my lifetime update I attempted to download following all of the instructions as prescribed. First issue was the unit I purchased had been registered to a previous owner (I purchased it from a friend ) - it would not allow me to complete the task. I have since attempted to contact Garmin using the help line on no less than 6 occasions and have been informed that I would be on hold waiting for the next available representative for approximately 40 to 90 min's depending on each time I called. I think that this is deplorable as I do not have this amount of time to waste sitting on the phone listening to useless information. What a sham, disgraceful. Total waste of my money.

until now i dont have see a big difference between the version of the map. garmin use the same that of Google map with the same error.
ex on my strret the address are from 01- 45 but with google and garmin we have some address until 97 ??? so if you are the type of person who by rim for your winter tire that can be a good choice.

LIFE TIME UPDATES
Pros: we will see Cons: takes a lot of patience
When i went to down load the maps, it said the gps i was trying to download to, was registered by someone else. Not sure how that happened, seens i am the one that bought it, and registered it. So i thought i would use the ONE TIME REDEMTION on my sons Nuvi. It then told me, that the card had been redeemed already. ( The one that is supposedly not registered to me) After almost punching my comp. screen, it finally let me download to my sons. A painful experience. Hopefully it will be worth it.

GOOD BUY FROM GARMIN
Pros: up to date maps, mapsource software Cons: download directions could be clearer
These Garmin map updates are good for the life of the device. You are allowed up to four updates each year. A GPS is of little value for serious travel if the maps and points of interest aren't up to date. I found it easy to install the updates to my Nuvi 760, and I took the opportunity to update the device's firmware at the same time. In addition, if you select the option to first install the maps on your computer before passing through to your GPS, you'll recieve the most recent version of the MapSource program. MapSouce is a great trip planning tool, and you can download your planned route to your GPS. I found this purchase to work as advertised and to be well worth the money.

DOWNLOAD AND UPLOAD
Even with high speed internet it took approx 3 hrs to download. I thought it had uploaded at the same time but then found out I had to upload to the gps. This took another hour and a half. Fortunately I did it on my lap top so I didn't tie up my main computer for four plus hours. Other than that it worked fine and service from GPS City was excellent.

GOOD VALUE
Pros: frequent updates. better value for your money. Cons: updates take a bit of time
Finally Garmin has provided some relief for the cost of buying map upgrades every year. The updating process works well on my PC but it is a bit time consuming. (25 minutes for the last update). So far I have received 2 updates in the 4 months since I purchased this. Not as nice as free map updates but way better than paying a 100 bucks a year.

GOOD PRICE, RELATIVELY EASY INSTALL
Pros: the price was right Cons: it took a few tries to get the install working
Although I have had my nuvi 360 for a while, the lifetime updates seemed like a good idea based on the price and comments that the update on DVD also required a massive Internet download for the latest updates. I followed the instructions posted in the gpscity site, connected the GPS and registered the nuMaps product code. I received an error accessing the GPS - the error message was not helpful.
I went through the Garmin MyDashboard page but was not initially able to find the MyMaps tab. The Garmin site indicated my GPS needed a firmware upgrade, which I successfully applied. I finally found MyMaps and successfully upgraded the maps. The download was going to take a while so I queued it up overnight.
I cannot say that I have noticed a difference in the maps themselves since the areas I normally visit are not undergoing a lot of roadwork. I will have an opportunity to check out the update maps later this month in an area where a bypass was recently built.

NUMAPS UPDATE
Pros: cheaper new maps Cons: fix the website! (see above)
I have given up all control to my GPS. My wife still fights for dominance, but I just let "Karen" tell me where to go. For this reason, map updates are important to me, and this package sure beats buying updated maps one at a time. The download and installation is time-consuming even with a fast connection, but there is a tremendous amount of data involved, and you don't have to stare at the progress bar the whole time. Go read a book. It was very difficult to find where on the website to start the process. That starting point ought to more obvious. You also need to pay close attention and read closely before you click anything during installation.

ECONIMIC PURCHASE - DIFFICULT EXECUTION
After purchasing the Lifetime update it is necessary to use Garmin's site to download the updated maps. I could not accomplish the download so began contacting Garmin's email support. After 9 days, 2 Garmin support personnel and 9 very detailed emails, my issue was upgraded to a supervisor who actually read what I had written and my problem was solved. So I can now say that this purchase is a very convenient and economical way to keep updated but high-speed Internet connection is almost a requirement.

GOOD IDEA - BAD DELIVERY MODEL
Pros: good to have up to-date maps Cons: lousy fulfillment model, bad fedex service
All this item really is is a numeric code that you use to sign up for map downloads. The map downloads are a good idea but the current process is very painful.
GPSCity shipped via Fedex and the documentation on the site said that no signature would be required. Needless to say, Fedex came when we were not home and did not leave the package. They would not make a same day delivery attempt and their depot, 20 kms from our house, is not open at all on weekends. I did not get the item before my trip not good at all.
This item should be fulfilled by e-mail, since the physical card serves no purpose at all. Any by the way Fedex you have lost me as a customer.

LOOOOOONG UP LOAD
The recent purchase of this card led to a very Frustrating and timely down load ... I was forced to Contact GARMINs tech support ( 20 min on hold) because I could not down load the Maps with the Key code that came on the Card...
GARMIN support had to first walk me through steps to down load another software before I could Down load their GARMIN product...
Funny that THIS info step was not mentioned in the Promotion of this CARD...
Finally after down loading this other software I was then able to down load the Garmin updates which BTW took well over a Half hour....
I spent well over 2 hours trying to get this download... This shold not be...
If your going away and plan to use your GPS on your trip I suggest you plan ahead... The Steps in down loading this info from the Garmin site could be a Pain...

ALL OF NORTH AMERICA - NOT
$800 GPS. $120 Maps. Oh sorry, says Garmin, your GPS is so old (1 year) that it can't hold all of North America - only part of it. What part would you like?
Renders it useless for crossing the continent like I needed it for. Only good if you stay on one side of the country.
And it can't use the freaking 16GB SD Card I put in it?
Highly annoyed.

GARMIN NUMAPS NORTH AMERICA LIFETIME UPDATE
Pros: i had never seen the "alternate route feature befo Cons: documentation with the card would be helpful.
Although I had a few concerns as I went through the update process, it finally seemed to finish properly (after loading 2GB onto my PC). My first experience using it was this week, driving from Newmarket, ON to Florida via Pittsburgh. How was I to know that VP Joe Biden was in Pittsburgh, and the road to my hotel was blocked by police. After a few turns, Nuvi found an alternate route, and I arrived safely.

LIFE TIME UP DATES FOR NUVI 660 GPS UNIT
The new updates do not reflect the New sections of twinned highway between Saskatoon SK & Prince Albert. Errors on previous maps are no longer there, very good. I am unable to comment on complete upgrades as we have not taken any long trips. What I can say is this past summer we put 20,000 KM. on our trip to the East coast, and only one time did we get wrong information from the unit. I love it. Only one thing would make it better would be TOPO MAPS available within the unit itself. Dual maps. I know I would pay extra for this as part of the complete unit. I spend many hrs. in the forest traveling old roads I find on old maps. Something to think about for the future. Sincerely Donald

MAP UPDATE
Pros: will pay for itself after 2nd use Cons: set aside 6-8 hours to load/update
I have never been satisfied with the information/poi's in any of the updates. It seems the information is about 2 years behind reality. So its nice to finally have the 2008 information in my 2010 update. Maybe one day, I will get an update that is only one year behind reality. The other peeve I have with the software is, name uniformity. I dont understand why (for example) a food establishment that has multiple locations shows up in several different categories, and has several different "names" .. Take Chili's for example.. Chili's is either.. "Chili's" or "Chili's Bar and Grill", or "Chili's Grill", etc.. I would there is an easy resolution to that issue, but obviously not discovered...yet.

TRANSFERING THE LIFETIME MAPS TO A NEW UNIT
Pros: updateds are ok Cons: transfering them is poor
If you have a problem with your gps unit & not under warranty you have 2 choices sent it to Quebec & spend $89 plus shipping & handling. I only bought the lifetime maps less than 6 months ago. The updates are not bad but it is poor customer service when the unit can't be fixed locally & you can't transfer them to a new Garmin unit. I think that is pretty sad

Pros: convenient, cost saving Cons: only good for one gps unit
The idea of a lifetime update card is a good one. I don't have an issue with the card itself but I find the map data is still out of date in some area's but that isn't the fault of the update procedure. Also found the web site difficult to navigate through to get to the initialization and download procedure for the card.

LIFETIME NUMAPS
Pros: good if you have a new garmin Cons: questionable if your garmin in several years old
I have posted a positive review prior but would like to point out a small caveat on this seemingly nice offer on the part of Garmin The Map updates are only for your current Garmin's lifetime This is neat if you have a really recent Garmin BUT when the battery fails on your current unit you are evidently faced with a minimum repair charge of $225 USD regardless of the reason for failure. Thus a failed li ion battery is worth more than a new unit so logic would indicate that you purchase the newest and best of the Garmin lineup many of which will be well under the $225 min. charge. BUT in doing so you lose the value of your LIFETIME Nu Maps because they are not applicable to your new purchase. Thus you have to once again have to purchase a new NUMaps at $120++

NUMAPS LIFETIME - BEWARE
Right after registering a $350 Garmin GPS product, I received an E-mail from GPS City inviting me to purchase the nuMaps Lifetime update. It sounded really good so I checked it out. I did find my device on the Garmin Web site compatibility chart so I ordered it. After I received it, the compatibility chart with the nuMaps Lifetime update card appeared to list my device but repeated attempts to activate nuMaps Lifetime were unsuccessful. I repeatedly tried talking to Garmin about this (for about the last month) and am finally convinced I was robbed. At first they told me I had to have "City Navigator North America NT 2010" before I could activate it, so I spent another $100 for that. So now, I can't activate the card and once the scratch-off is removed from the card it is no longer returnable. The thing is, I had to remove the scratch off in order to find out I couldn't activate it. I've used other brand's of GPS units and none of them nickle and dime me like Garmin products. Needless to say, I'm now relunctant to continue with Garmin. I'm not sure what one could do to ensure compatibility prior to making purchases like this. GPS city refers you to Garmin. Garmin's web site doesn't seem to be that easy to use nor effective.

Nothing wrong with the product. Seems to do what is says: update the maps. Difficulty was trying to figure out how to do it online: the Garmin website seemed impenetrable. Once I finally found what I thought was the correct place, it attempted a download, didn't, then said it had.
Turned out to be an incompatibility with IE8. Finally got it working with Firefox.

Purhcase and delivery of the nuMaps card was excellent. Downloading of the update did take some time on my Zumo 550, even on HS internet. I was disappointed that I could not upload all the regions (Canada & US) onto the Zumo 550 drive (2gb) as I previously did from the NT North American updates disk. However, I was able transfer all the regions on a 4gb SD card and use the SD card to read all the Regions from the unit's SD slot. Have yet to determine if I can still use the same SD card, upload and listen to my mp3's.

GARMIN NUMAPS
Pros: using firefox the system worked as advertised Cons: garmin still has spotty support for osx /safari
First of all this is a good value purchase if up to date maps are necessary for your business or travel.
It does work as promised with several caveats...some minor and some major.
Downloads to your computer are slow unless you have a really high speed connection (I have 129KB/sec connection with Bell) and it took 5+ hours to download the current maps. It then took virtually 2 hour to transfer to the Nuvi 250W. This is not for the impatient user!
If you are a Mac user do not even think about using Safari for the downloads. First of all you need a Communicator Plug In which will not install for Safari unless Flip4Mac is deleted or disabled and even then the Download Manager from Garmin's servers will not allow a connection. Garmin Canada is aware of these conditions and suggest that FireFox 3.5 or better is the route to go. When FireFox 3.5 has the Communicator Plug In installed the installation was flawless albeit horrendously slow as mentioned .

As far as the content of the maps, POI, etc I believe they are as best as you can get at this time, NavTec does a good job. As far as installation, ease of registration, customer service, just plain politeness I would jump at the chance to buy anything but Garmin (I own 5 devices) It took me conservatively 2-4 hours of time to upgrade, req loading 3-4 programs/device drivers/etc. Garmin not user friendly & customer service was rude. 2009 NUMAPS CARD
Pros: mostly accurate maps Cons: registration process
Compared to the maps purchased in 2008, this set of maps seems better at accurately locating my car at an intersection.
As for the accuracy of the maps, several times during a recent trip to Ohio and Indianan, the maps could not find the recently constructed road and showed us driving in a field!
The worst aspect of this product is the too fine print explaining how to register the product so as to be able to download the maps.
The Garmin Web site was no help at all.
It took a call to Garmin's customer service to get the registration process underway.
And why are two different product codes necessary?
The one supplied with the plastic card should be sufficient.

NUMAPS LIFETIME A BIT OF A PAIN
Pros: lifetime update is nice in theory. Cons: very very difficult to get an error free download.
I really like the idea of paying just once for a lifetime of updates. But, Garmin has not made the download easy to execute. I had to download 4 times to get a successful download (at about 7 hours per download). Even using their download manager (which even that was difficult to download) did not enable me to get an error free download. Even turning off all my antivirus programs, etc. did not help. Finally, with antivirus turned back on, I got an error free download. If I have to go through this much effort every quarter -- the attractiveness of the "deal" will definitely go away.

LIFETIME MAPS
Pros: seems to be a good way to keep up to date maps
So far, the only problems I have with the lifetime card deal with the map updates, not the card. I discovered that updating the map online was about a 2G download, which gave me a bit of a headache since I'm on satellite broadband and somewhat limited in speed and daily download. Also, once I got it downloaded, I found that the detail maps I had loaded for Scandinavia wouldn't work. I ended up having to download another update (in the beginning of my trip to Sweden) to get the updated version without the bug. I'm just hoping that the correction download doesn't count as one of the four updates per year that is on the card.

LIFE-TIME MAPS
Pros: best gps maps available Cons: lacking info in some rural areas
Happy to have purchased life-time updates, worth every penny to know that your maps are as accurate as any GPS provides. Whereas the maps are great in urban areas they are less than perfect in rural areas - especially in small Canadian rural areas. Seems to be a problem with information provided to Garmin or Garmin's inability to obtain up-to-date Canadian info. Downloading and installing updates is relatively straight forward but time consuming.

WORKED AS ADVERTISED
Pros: saves money - can update more often Cons: none
I have a Zumo 550 and have been traveling on my Goldwing quite a bit. I wanted to keep the Zumo current with the latest maps but didn't like the annual cost. This card costs less than two annual updates and is good for as long as I own the Zumo. Shipping was fast and I installed the updates as soon as I got the card. It worked fine. The download is large and does take quite a while, but I had no problems.

LIFETIME UPDATES
Pros: lifetime updates Cons: servers at garmin can be slow.
This is an excellent idea and it works very well. I bought this update and the day that it arrived I updated my nuvi270. The maps are now up to date. What was once a river valley on the original maps now shows the express way that runs through it.
The only con is the slowness of the Garmin servers. It took 2 hours on a cable modem to download and install the update.
Considering the cost of just one update in the past, this is an excellent value and I would highly recommend it.

NUMAPS REVIEW
Pros: should save money if the zumo lasts a few years Cons: very long time to load, uses nearly all the memory
I have mixed reviews re the Numaps Lifetime, It took 3 days to get it working ok, because I had some music on my Garmin Zumo which used a little memory, so there was not enough room for the numaps lifetime, I only had about 25 U,S states and Canadian towns missing. I had to get Garmin, to take over my computer to load it, plus sitting on the phone for a total of 2.75 hours, and lots of emails. I do have high speed internet but takes a long time to load. Hopefully I will use it this summer on my bike trips

GOOD PRODUCT-BAD DATA
Pros: lifetime card is a good idea Cons: someone needs to give navtech some competition
I like the idea of the card even though the download took many hours (even in the early AM). What is bad is the data supplied by NavTech-for the four mile street that I live on every address is located incorrectly. My house is shown two miles from actual. It has been this way for years and repeated requests to Garmin/NavTech have gone unanswered. And just a few weeks ago in Savannah we found that a business we were looking for was shown one mile incorrect. I just hope my local EMS does not use Garmin to find me. NavTech needs a complete overhaul.

I was quite disappointed with this product. Even though I have "high speed" I found the download time excessive. Also, I can only use a portion of the map at any one time. To travel from Fl to Nova Scotia Canada I have to download the Eastern Seaboard. If I travel to Mid Wester USA I have to download another section of maps. When asking about the product at GPS City I was assured that all of the USA and Canada could be downloaded into my GPS. I wasn't told that I could only download a portion of the maps I needed.

NUMAPS NORTH AMERICA LIFETIME UPDATES
Pros: inexpensively keeps your maps up-to-date Cons: instructions not clear, downloading is slow
The nuMaps Lifetime update is certainly less expensive than buying new maps every year. The maps are at least as good a quality as the original maps, plus they are very up-to-date, which I found useful in an area where freeways are constantly under construction. Garmin allows the maps to be updated up to 4 times per year. I was irritated that it took me nearly an hour to find the online location for registering the card and updating the maps. The location was not clearly located in the product manual, nor could I find it on Garmin's home site. I finally found it by typing various keywords into GOOGLE. (By the way, the update site I finally found is "http://www.gps-update.com/garmin- updates/garmin-numaps-lifetime"). Once I found the site though, the download went fairly smoothly. It was a slow download though (2 hours on high speed) so it is not recommended for those with slower internet connections. In spite of these minor difficulties, I like the product, and the fact that I can update the maps as I need them without any additional charge.

NOT WHAT I EXPECTED.
First, I thought I was buying a new map set. Second, even though this item was heavily promoted, it appears there is no new map set at this time. Lastly, I can find no instructions on how to use it anywhere. It may work, but it may take months (when new maps come out) before I find that out. Once again, Garmin figured out how to make updating maps a miserable experience.

GARMIN NUMAPS NORTH AMERICA LIFETIME UPDATES
Pros: if this product worked better it would be great Cons: slow download / unpack, buggy download manager
The idea of being able to download map updates up to 4 times per year is great, but in practice, there are some major downsides to this product.
The first is that the process is very slow. The updates are huge - 2 GB in size - so they take a long time to download and quite a while to unpack and install on the unit.
The second is the Garmin Download Manager is buggy and it corrupts the files. I attempted to download the updates several times (hours each time) only to find they would not unpack due to corrupted files. After several attempts, I called for support, where I found the third problem which is how poor Garmin's technical support is. Not only did I have wait for hours to talk to them, but they blamed the problem on my computer, my internet connection, my antivirus software and my anti-spyware software, anything but their own product. Finally, I gave up and bypassed the Garmin Download Manager, which solved the problem. While it supposedly increases download speed and allows an interrupted download to be restarted, all it did for me was corrupt the files. (Manually download was the same speed.) When I downloaded the update manually, the files were not corrupted and they installed properly.
It's unfortunate that Garmin took a great idea and executed it so incredibly poorly.

AWFUL DOWNLOAD PROCESS
Pros: none! Cons: horrible download system, worse help.
Tried 6 times on 3 different computers, all on DSL, couldn't get clean download or install. Garmin has the most cumbersome log-in and unlock processes ever. Phone help is permahold and awful. email help is slow and awful. Problem is that the download is one huge file and any little blip kills it. To add insult to injury, the download is cluttered with infomercials about Garmin's wonderful products. Don't bother! Buy the SD card instead if you need an update.

VERY EASY AND SMOOTH DOWNLOAD AND MAP UPDATE!
Pros: smooth d/l, 70 min for 1.91gb Cons: yes, this product is not cheap but on a long run..
Received the numaps lifetime card in 7 days, very happy that I had to pay just 5% tax, the D/L of 1.91GB took 70 min, it went very smoothly, then about 2 hrs to extract and install the new CN NA NT 2010.10, all together I'm a very happy camper! Don't know yet how many updates since my previous map I was using before, the 2008 CN NA NT. And let's see how many updates will be out there per year, it says 4/year, time will tell! Using a Garmin 350 purchased a year ago and planning on using it until will die on me, hopefully at least 5 more years!

UPDATES SHOULD BE FREE CONSIDERING COST OF PRODUCT
Pros: none Cons: to costly and do not recommend
I have a Zumo 550 and payed a pretty expensive price for it a year ago because it was made for a motorcycle and is water proof and glove friendly. Needless to say I am happy with the product for what it will do but after spending $639.00 cdn at the time and now being asked for another $125.00 cdn for updates is a real slap in the face by Garmin. Next time around I will be sure to shop elsewhere for a similar product. I think Garmin should reconsider and offer updates for free since there products are not the cheapest on the market. Definitely gougers if you are asking me.

People, ask yourself do you really NEED new maps every quarter? Don't kid yourself, the very latest bestest ever maps contain bizarre errors and omissions , particularly in Canada. Were you buying the yearly updates, or were you buying them every two or three years? How many years do you expect to use your gps? my history bought units in 00, 03, 06, 08....So I get 2-3 years per unit, so I can buy one upgrade for $50 in year 2 and be fine.

LIFETIME IS FOR THE GPS, NOT THE USER
Pros: maps look great. Cons: buy a new gps, need a new lifetime
I have dug into the Terms and conditions on the Garmin website and see that the Lifetime is for the "useful Life" of the unit the nuMaps is initially downloaded onto.
Seems to me that if you want to get a future new GPS, you have to get an additional Lifetime Update package. I can buy a new Nuvi 750 for $198, get latest maps for free download. Improved machines are being announced every six months. The internal batteries don't seem to last more than 2 years.
This software should be sold to the user for use on any and all of their machines.
BTW, I want to see Garmin actually providing quarterly map updates before I shell out any money.

Pros: cost of unlimited downloads was very good Cons: 1 big file
The download of a 2GB file is painful. It would be better if the download was done with several smaller files like 200MB each. I had issues of corruption. Once I did the download with out a wireless LAN connection, no problem. It just took a LONG time. I'd rather download 10 200MB files, have them error checked than one massive file.

UPDATE SOFTWARE
Pros: lifetime updates, one time cost, easy to use Cons: huge download
This is the second update I've done on my Garmin Nuvi 360, the 1st was the traditional $80 software last year. I purchased the lifetime update online on March 10 and received it March 11. While the update downloads a massive amount of data I believe the cost of the regular s/w offsets the 2+ hour wait to even get the downloaded software. You definitely need a high speed internet connection to make it worthwhile. The install process went very smooth and my unit worked great on the vacation in the Orlando area.

GARMIN LIFETIME UPDATE
As of last month Garmin was unprepared to honor these cards without a call to customer support. There isn't a place on their website to redeem them. Once the phone tech told us where to go, it worked. Note: it takes a long time to do the update, at least a couple of hours.

INCLUDES CITY NAVIGATOR NORTH AMERICA NT
In addition to updating my Nuvi, City Navigator North America NT was included with the downloads and was added to MapSource on my PC. This would have cost almost as much as nuMaps if purchased separately.

NUMAPS NA LIFETIME UPDATES CARD
Pros: excellent value versus the cost of a single update Cons: none, so far
I have used once and it worked flawlessly. Pleased that you are able to have the map on your PC thru Mapsource in addition to updating the Nuvi.

GARMIN NUMAPS LIFETIME UPDATE
Pros: pays for itself after 2 updates. Cons: none
Works very well. Maps can be updated up to 4 times per year. Easy to use- I had no problems. Even though the download of maps takes a while, it is worth it. High speed internet connection is a must.

BETTER NOW..
I ran the update again on a real PC (not Mac with Boot Camp this time) and everything came out ok. Rocky first two attempts still left me with a bad taste in my mouth. 1 year old restaurant still not in the POI's. If you can get by without it, I'd wait for the 2010 update. I'd give it a "maybe" recommendation.

I WANT A REFUND!
Cons: a serious downgrade to my gps!
The first 2gb download got interrupted 3/4 of the way through so I had to start over. After finally getting the upgrade, the Garmin site said I had to do it a 2nd time. After the 2nd "upgrade", it said still I have one more to do. 45min download + another 45 to update the unit (each time)- very time consuming. The WORST PART is that there are now many roads MISSING from my unit making navigating between customers in rural areas extremely difficult. I'm finding some businesses over a year old aren't even in the database yet and the gps sometimes prefers less direct and slower routes! If I didn't have to have this for my business travel, I would send it back for a reprogramming back to its original state.. (which I could have done myself, if they hadn't been so cheap and included the basemap dvd like they used to do). Disappointment is an understatement!

NORTH AMERICA LIFETIME UPDATE
Pros: quick Cons: should have given me a $10 rebate
The seller handled and shipped my update quickly. The update's full retail price was $119.95 but sold it to my for $109.95. A week later they offered it for $99.95 but it was to late for my sale.

GARMIN NUMAPS
Pros: good buy to keep my gps updated. Cons: hope these updates are real updates.
Total time to download 1.9gb and install to GPS is around 2 hours, so do not plan to be in a hurry. A few roads in my area were still not updated.

NUMAPS UPDATE CARD
Pros: nice way to update maps Cons: takes way longer than it should even on fiber line
I had a lot of trouble getting this update card to work. It took about a week with phone and emails to get it working. I was trying to update my GPSMAPS 60CSx unit. I think Garmin just didn't expect anyone to be updating what is now a pretty old unit. It was a compatible unit, but they had to keep changing their server script in order for it to work. It was fine after that.

NUMAPS LIFETIME UPDATES
Pros: none Cons: it does not work
Unfortunately it does not work. As usual Garmin has issues with the operation of the software and can not fix it at present. I could not in all honesty recommend this at this time as Garmin is clueless and unresponsive. Maybe in the future but not now. Put your credit card away.

NOT MUCH CHANGED IN VANCOUVER
Cons: too expensive for old maps
I'm disappointed with this update. Very little changed for streets in Metro Vancouver. Some new POIs but many streets that have been around for several years are still not on this update. Still have lots of route inaccuracies where streets are used BUT in reality do not permit left turns (have been this way for 3+ years).

TRANSFERABLE SOFTWARE LICENSE
Pros: great concept - long overdue! Cons: protectionism/overly restrictive license
First, I love Garmin Products and own 4. In the technology world, we purchase hardware, that can and will eventually fail, and we replace it. We purchase software to use on that hardware. I don't know of a single piece of software that is not transferable to any hardware that I own, until now! I agree with Garmin, that I can only use the Maps on a single device at any given time, but the choice of device it's being used on should be mine, not Garmin's. It needs to be transferable to any other device I own.

I AGREE 100% WITH MYSTERY CRUISER....
For people who own ONE GPS, and only care about it's MAP, this would be a nice feature/purchase. However, how long do you own one GPS? More than a year? 2 years? How often does the roads, and POIs change in a year? Not too often... and a $100 can go a long way in a year and a half when your about to buy a new, better, and more up to date GPS (technology grows by leaps and bounds each year). I too use multiple GPS's and Multiple mapping software databases, so this would never work for me.

LIFETIME MAPS BUT OBSOLETE GPS'S
Pros: concept sounds good Cons: realistically, see comments.
I have a problem with this lifetime update concept in that it is only for one GPS. I run several, marine, offroad and hiway and I have already replaced old (5 yrs) GPS technology with newer. So I can't see the benefit of a lifetime of updates for an older soon to become, obsolete GPS... If it were transferrable to those units registered to you, then YES I would endorse this product.

WORKS GREAT GOOD DEAL
Pros: never have an outdated map again. Cons: it does take some time for the download
For the cost of 2 updates this lifetime pays for itself. I just did it and it worked great. Of course it takes some time but if you want all if you want up to date map data and also at the same time update your computers this is the way to go. You can update both your PC and your Laptop at no additional charge but this will work on only 1 GPS. You can do any number of computures but only 1 GPS as it has always been in the past. Great idea and worth every penny if you want to keep your GPS current. It also updates all the POI's at the same time and this update will upgrade your Mapsource to the latest version.

GARMIN LIFETIME UPDATES
Pros: lifetime download Cons: see comments above
Before deciding to buy this product, my question is "What will happen to those who paid a hefty price buying ex: nuvi 670 with North America maps and full Europe coverage." Will we be able to buy lifetime updates for both North America and Europe and what will be the price.

IT WORKED... EVENTUALLY
Pros: faster than ordering and waiting for a dvd Cons: huge file download, slow installation
I tried this out - sort of. I used the same update method, as I was given 1 free update with my new Nuvi 760. HUGE download (2GB) means it takes a couple of hours to download and install.
Didn't work the first time - it actually wiped my maps/POI database. Garmin suggested I reinstall, and that worked fine.
For those who like to keep up to date - it will be a good thing, but be prepared to spend 8 hours per year keeping your Nuvi up to date.
