GARMIN 1350 LMT

Pros: none
Cons: too many to list

Purchased in April 2011, updated maps, now I have no maps. Piece of junk. Can't find it's way to the garbage. If you ask me Garmin has way to many software problems.

SOLUTION TO MAP UPDATE PROBLEM (I.E. "NO MAP DATA"

Pros: free maps and traffic updates for life
Cons: took me an hour to figure out map update issue

If you have the lifetime map update feature for your GPS, use Option 2 "Garmin Map Updater" instead of option 1 "Garmin Lifetime Map Updater". There seems to be some bugs with the Lifetime Map Updater application and it isn't compatible with some versions of operating systems.

BROKEN AFTER UPDATING

Pros: none anymore
Cons: garmin - test your software & upgrades

Upgraded the firmware/maps several weeks ago. Since then it wants to take me off the road I am on at every exit/intersection to get me to my destination. In my case it was trying to take a motorhome cross country over dirt side roads, off the freeways between Texas and Montana! The screen shows my proper location, but the route navigation side is not dealing with the correct data. Right now it is electronic waste!

GARMIN NUVI 1350LMT

Pros: not any better than a similar magellan
Cons: none at this point in time

I bought this as a gift for my son who used in NYC when it stopped working correctly. I took it back and did a map update which after several failures finally worked last night after downloading for 11 hours. When I turned it on this morning I still have messages "cannot unlock maps" and no map data. I use a Magellan which is 100 times better than this Garmin. After several emails and hours on the phone with Garmin, the best they can do is offer me a refurbished unit. I would rather have my money back!

MAPS NOT TRULY UP TO DATE

Pros: nice mounting unit. voice directions are clear
Cons: maps are not really up to date even recent updates

I just purchased this unit after owning TomTom products which have only failed me once, never had a lost signal. I liked the unit right from the box worked great and the traffic feature worked fine, until i tried to use it to go to my sisters new home. I had updated the software and the map to the most current maps according to the Garmin website. I enter my sisters address and it comes up as not found. I look on Google maps and the street shows as well as surrounding streets. I have written an email to Garmin and I am currently waiting for their excuse/answer. The map update says it is only 2 months less then my current date and my sister has lived their well before the map date yet it is not shown. I tried my friends TomTom 1405 and it showed the street. I am really considering going back to TomTom and never getting Garmin again. Rating so far is a 4.

EXCELLENT UNIT

Pros: nice readable screen day or night.
Cons: none i have been able to determine.

I bought this unit to replace my 1-1/2 yr old TomTom XL 340 S which on the slightest cloudy day and even daytime would loose signal and then have to wait which is very annoying. I have taken the same trips south with this Garmin and has not failed with holding satellite signal. All the bells and whistles are very nice and can change screens easily to review data other than roadmap. It has a full one year factory warranty per their website store.

COULDN'T EVEN FIND DMV.

Pros: big screen, can be used as a "pedestrian" vs "car"
Cons: does not find locations you may need.

I wouldn't wish GARMIN on anyone. Purchased the 1350 LMT - what a piece of junk. Tried to find MARUKAI (a well establish Japanese grocery store chain in Japan and California). NO GO. Next I tried to find "DMV" or even "Department of Motor Vehicles" which is located 4.5 miles down the road and again NO GO. But I did find a donut shop approx. 108 miles away!! Who in their right mind would want to know of a donut shop that is ONE HUNDRED EIGHT miles away???

Called Garmin. Was told that POI (points of interest) would not be comprehensive. Are you kidding me? DMV is not included??? WTFreak. Was told my other option for finding various locations was to "LOOK IT UP ON THE OCMPUTER AND TO MANUALLY ENTER IN THE ADDRESS"!!!!! If that is the only way to find something using GARMIN, I may as well print out the location where I got the address from my computer and use it! I was further informed that GARMIN GPS was for use in finding things like GAS STATIONS! Talk about useless.

Went to purchase accessories on SHOP.GARMIN.COM and depending on the entrance/access method, you will end up with DIFFERENT accessories! Their website is very very fragmented. If you then go to FAQ or even try to get support, model "1350" shows, model 1370t shows but no "1350LMT". Remember it does not state "1300 series" which would obviously cover my unit.

Funny, my MAGELLAN had no problems with either function or location.

Bottomline: Try another brand because even if the maps and traffic are updated for free, if the GPS can't find what you need, it isn't worth it at any price.

SPELL LOCATION FEATURE IS INFERIOR TO OTHER UNITS

Pros: free downloads
Cons: unreliable for find locations by name

The GPS could not locate some simple business destinations. I went as far as sitting outside the building and typing in the name but had no luck. The keypad letters are small and the letters are hard to touch, you often misspell words

GARMIN NUVI 1350 LMT ANSWER TO DEB'S REVIEW

Pros: grest gps
Cons: non

When keypad doesn't respond correctly and have to punch key over and over, you just need to calibrate it. Turn off GPS, press thumb on screen at top left corner and continue pressing while you turn it on. Keep pressing for about 15 seconds and release and a screen comes up with lines and a dot in the center that you press. Then the dot keeps changing to different places on the screen and each time press the dot. After that it says it is calibrated and turns on. Now my keypad work great. Just call Garmin when you have issues and they are so good to help you correct technical problems like that. I love their products.

PRELIMINARY EVALUATION

Cons: zoom in/out controls are a bit on the small side

Seems to be a fairly reliable product. Being in NW Ont. has not yet given me the oportunity to give this item a real test I do like the performance of this item so far and would at the present time give it a moderate endorsement.

BEST BUY FOR YOUR BUCK.

Pros: easy to use, clear display and good value.
Cons: no bluetooth to have audio come on your car stero

Considering that you receive free map and traffic updates for the life of the product, it is great value and well worth what I paid. Great display, very clear. I have downloaded a city navigation map for Hawaii because of our up and coming vacation. I tried it in simulation mode and it looks really good. It tells me were to walk to catch the bus, when the bus will arrive and what bus number to get on. It also lets me know the last bus is running (good to know if you don't want to be stranded). I will review this more after our trip is over. I have not yet tried the traffic advisor as yet because I do not have a FM trafic report available for my area

HOW THE TRAFFIC UPDATES WORK

Pros: automatically routed me around major traffic issue
Cons: traffic data only available in big cities

Just wanted to let people know how the Traffic data works: Last time I was driving from Edmonton to Calgary to visit my girlfriend I was just outside of Calgary and my Nuvi 1350 said I was about 35min from my destination. All of a sudden I came into range of the FM Traffic signal. The Traffic icon went from Grey (no data), to Green, to Yellow, then Red (in a matter of minutes). Then the ETA went from like 30mins to over an hour! (WTF!!) I was just about to see if it could re-route me when the voice from the GPS said "severe traffic on route, re-calculating..." and then it had me avoid the Deerfoot and my ETA changed back to 40mins. It had automatically directed me take some other road (14th I think) when I got into the city and I arrived less than 10 minutes later than expected. Never did find out what the issue was on the Deerfoot, nor do I really care. Now I drive with the charger/traffic receiver connected even in the city for short trips instead of battery. It covers the major cities in Canada: http://www.navteq.com/rdstraffic/ (Incidentally, when back in Edmonton I was in minor traffic, a 2 minute delay, and I tried to manually re-route and it told me I was already on the optimal route even with the traffic, so it's smart enough to not divert you if the detour would be worse than the delay)

AUTOMOTIVE GPS.

Cons: more street names at a distance would be helpful.

This is my 3rd Garmin Automotive GPS and is the best of the 3. I started with the 660 upgrade to a 750 and now to the 1350. The maps for Ontario are excellent and the features are very easy to use.

THE COMPLETE GPS

My 1350 replaces my 660 and provides several signifigant advantages. First is lifetime map updates at no charge versus a signifigant charge every time on the 660. Same with free lifetime traffic. Third I like the color coded vehicle speed system which reads in red when over the speed limit. And the limit display changes promptly when you pass a new speed limit sign so you have a better chance of not getting trapped in those areas where frequently changeing the limit is part of "the game". Also like that the power code goes into the 1350 and not the dash mount so my wife can take it down if we want to do a fuel or restaurant search and work with iton her lap without disconnecting.

GREAT GPS FOR AN UNFAMILIAR CITY

Pros: bright screen, clear voice, simple directions
Cons: does not have lane assist data in canada it seems.

I wanted a Garmin since I have a Forerunner and like Garmin products. This 1350 LMT is nearly perfect for someone who needs to drive in an unfamiliar city (Calgary and Vancouver) which has, let's be honest, crazy traffic at times! It easily finds any address, or even points of interest, and navigates there almost flawlessly (keep your eyes open in case a new road/by-pass is quicker, or if the mailing address is not the same as the entrance). It has made driving in Calgary almost enjoyable. And the traffic info has been handy. I like that if I make a wrong turn, due to being in the wrong lane, or just not paying attention it will re-calculate and get me back on track. Being able to update the maps is nice since I know roads change (they've just put 2 round abouts in near my girlfriend's house, which I'm sure will be on the next update). When I don't need traffic updates I skip the cable and the battery seems to work well. It also does pedestrian directions, so I can drive to a location, then search for parking (on the GPS), go park and find my way back (once, downtown, the only free lot was blocks away and of course on foot one-ways don't matter). Very slick.

GOOD GPS BUT PROBLEMS WITH TRAFFIC

I really like my GPS and I got it specifically for the traffic receiver but it doesn't always work. It could be from getting a bad signal since I live in LA but I don't know. Otherwise, I like all the other features included with my GPS.

AUTOMOTIVE GPS

Pros: the 1st unit i have owned & generally i am pleased
Cons: keypad functions

Even after updating map information, some hard to find commercial addresses in a major city could not be located correctly. Some of the key pad functions do not work consistently & I regularly have to keep pushing the letter or number I wish to enter several times before the unit will recognize it. I would recommend this unit to a friend but only with the noted caveats & also suggest they explore other brands.

THIS GPS IS OK

Pros: lifetime maps and traffic
Cons: display data is lacking

This is my first Garmin I've always owned a TomTom. I decided to purchase the Garmin this time because my understanding is that Garmin has better US mapping. I haven't found the mapping to be any better, just comparable. The TomTom interface is much better, in my opinion. I can display just about any data I want (time to destination, mileage I've traveled, mileage to destination, etc.) on the TomTom, but the Garmin limits which data I can display. I find myself interacting with the Garmin while I'm driving in order to get the required data, rather than simply being able to display it while I'm driving. I also don't find the traffic feature to be very helpful. It doesn't seem to know about traffic until I'm in the middle of it...not much help. The Garmin is adequate but if I had to do it again I'd purchase another TomTom.

GARMIN 1350LMT IS A GREAT BUY!

Pros: lifetime traffic and map updates included!
Cons: none

I was looking to replace a 265WT that had been stolen from my car. After shopping around I found the 1350LMT and was hooked from the start. It is loaded with great new features like lifetime traffic and lifetime map updates but I was surprised when travelling down the Hwy 400 when it began showing recommended lanes for upcoming intersections! Lane Assist is an amazing added feature that is the cherry on top of this amazing GPS. Highly recommended!!

GARMIN NUVI 1350 LMT

Pros: nice features - good accuracy
Cons: key pad does not respond.

System works well. I am disappointed in the touch screen. When typing on the key pad some letters do not respond and you have to keep pressing over and over. This usually ends in the wrong letter being displayed. It is frustrating since it takes too much time.

GOOD AUTOMOTIVE GPS

Pros: very well constructed and easy to use.
Cons: wished i had gotten the hands free-voice activated

The device is very nice but some of the directions are not accurate. It has our home on the wrong side of the road. It tells us to turn right instead of left into our driveway.
