GOTTA LOVE GARMIN NUVI 1450 LMT

Pros: touch screen is very responsive
Cons: none that i can think of

Great product, upgraded from my last unit, especially like this model since I can input my own routes from my laptop with Mapsource software. This unit responds much faster than my previous model the NUVI 755T which I gave to my daughter, and she is happy with it.

Pros: i like the side display options
Cons: some menu items take more steps to access.

The machine adequately replaces my Nuvi 350. I am disappointed that many map items are not current.

BETTER THAN EXPECTED.

Pros: accurate, side of street on address a plus
Cons: none reallyu

Quick on, quick to find satellites. Love screen size. Accurate. Reallife I-state signs are great. Can read description of pre trip in text although staffer said you could not. Still finding things it will do, since no manual (except quick start was included). Guess it is online.

GOOD GPS BUT

This is a good GPS. I could view the screen easily during daylight. Map is very detailed and voice prompts timely and detailed. Jane's voice is somewhat hard to understand but Jack's voice is OK. Unit could use better battery to last longer when operating while not plugged in. Screen is very sensitive - too sensitive. Should be able to turn touch screen feature off for ease of handling. Traffic cord too thick, should be thinner wire since only 12 V so it is easier to deal with in the car.

EXCELLENT VALUE

Pros: 5 inch touchscreen, lifetime map updates, traffic
Cons: slow to acquire satellites in manhattan

There are now newer models of this unit with bluetooth connectivity and voice control. But if you don't care about these two features and want a solid GPS unit with a large touch screen and lifetime maps and traffic, this is the GPS to get.

The first time I used this unit, it took so long to acquire satellites (Manhattan) that I thought the unit was faulty. Eventually, it worked. Had the same problem acquiring a satellite after coming out of the brooklyn battery tunnel into manhattan. Don't know if it's Manhattan or a weakness in the receiver, so one star off.

HELPFUL LITTLE DEVICE

Pros: great in a city you are unfamiliar with...
Cons: needs to explain how the battery charges better...

Having never used a GPS before, I chose the 1450 LMT partly because of the price. I have found it fairly easy to learn how to use and most of the time it is very accurate. I haven't had any problem with it, but the instruction book is a bit weak....

FINE UNTIL SOFTWARE/MAP UPGRADE

Pros: screen size
Cons: reboots without notice

I have had this unit for about 4 months. I love the size and the ability to see speed, distance, ETA, current time and the map as well. I was annoyed when I tired to download a new map and needed to remove preloaded software to make room for the map & firmware update. The upgrade was annoying but since then the unit reboots iself for no apparent reason. It may be related to using a route as it did not happen when I selected a destination istead of a route. A friend of mine was riding in the car with me when it rebooted and he said "mine does that too!" - he has a 1490LMT. Sounds like a firmware glitch, hopefully the next version will resolve the issue AND not be so difficult to download.

SHUTS DOWN

Pros: lifetime maps, freeway lane information
Cons: intermittent shutdowns

I bought this unit in May 2011, it works reasonably well in comparison to four other Garmins that I have owned. The most frustrating thing about this unit is that it shutdown and restarts intermittently. On our last trip it restarted no less than 6 times in 4 hours.

GOOD MC GPS

Pros: lots of great features, easy to read screen.
Cons: sketchy documentation.

I'm still discovering it's features, but for me, the most useful feature is the speedometer/trip odometer screen since I usually know where I'm going before I start. I got this mostly for my motorcycle. The only drawback I can see vs. the more expensive 550 is weatherproofing. But I always carry a baggie to cover it if weather looks bad, so far so good. The only real 'con' is very sketchy documentation, you are largely on your own to find those great features.

NOT ACCURATE.

accuracy is very poor. I went to the dells and it did not give the right turn. And some street showing are not the right street. asked me to turn right instead of turning left. The lane assist is not very prompt. I'm not sure I will recommend this unit. I think my old garmin GPS is more accurate than this latest one in which suppose to be updated but I found out it is not accurate with street turns.

GARMIN 1450LMT

Pros: nice size, good vocals - once you get rid of the y
Cons: not enough functions, not 4 preplanning, help poor

The unit met my expectations with two exceptions. It did not allow for easy planning of future routes, and will not run a route quickly to verify. This becomes an issue when trying to set a specific route to avoid certain roads. My experience is also that shortest route takes more turns that would seem needed. Still think is valuable, rate: 3 of 5

GREAT AUTO GPS

Pros: speed and accuracy of directions.
Cons: slow map/software update process.

Selected this unit as a replacement for a older unit and must say I was very impressed with its performance out of the box. Quick turn on and locking to satellites with rapid navigation results provided for selected destinations. 5" display is very easy to read with just the right amount of map detail. Spoken road turns very helpful saves looking at the screen for busy routes. Now used on several trips and worked as advertised. Free updates work well but a little slow installing.

EXCELLENT AUTO GOS

Pros: excellent nav software and gui
Cons: wish it came with a protective case.

Saw this unit (Garmin Nuvi 1450 LMT) in a friends car and he had great things to say about it and the reason is simple: large screen, excellent nav software, easy to use, great price. And I found the (free) map updating easy compared to the older Garmin unit I used to have this one is simple to update. I highly recommend this unit.

1450 LMT EXCELLENT SYSTEM

Pros: too many to name, great machine so far
Cons: download off internet a bit confusing but do able

I recently added the Nuvi 1450LMT to my arsenal of Garmin GPS's and once again Garmin proves they are the leader in the GPS world. Quick configuration right out of the box, downloading maps was a bit funky but no major issues. Now here comes the part I have been waiting for in the Nuvi line up, how easy does it exchange routes with Mapsource. Absolutely perfect, a walk in the park. Just for fun I downloaded Garmin’s “Voice Studio” and entered my own voice in to give turn by turn directions. No issues here either smooth as can be. Will take it on a long trip in the next few weeks and really give her a road test. :) Thank you Garmin & GPS City Adam

Pros: nice big screen
Cons: does not update when you change directoin properly

We travelled to Toronto last week, got off the direct route but you system kept sending us back to the "correct" way when in fact we were much better off in the NEW route. Even after 10 miles of the new way,it keep insisting we go back to the old way??? Not really impressed with it so far but I will give it more time. We do like the larger screen and existing features we have found so far, just not sure I would recommend it to anyone yet.....Greg, Kingston, Ontario, Canada

ANOTHER GREAT GPS BY GARMIN

Pros: lane assist is a great feature
Cons: none yet.

I just purchased the 1450 LMT recently and am very pleased with the unit.It seems to have a quicker processor than my Garmin 255W and the screen size and resolution is bigger and better. Love the lane assist and freeway entrance exit assist..Very nice idea and sooo helpful travelling. Everything is just great with this unit and I got it on sale for 50.00 off..It was actually less than the regualr 1450!! Its a no brainer and I have no compalints with this unit at all.

VERY FAVORABLY IMPRESSED

Pros: easy to see and easy to use
Cons: the suction cup mount won't hold the unit long

I have used GPS units made by others. This 1450 LMT is so much easier and quicker. I used it on a recent 1500 mile trip and only two minor mistakes. One has been a software glitch that has been there for at least 10 years and shows up in 3 other GPS units I have used, so can't blaim it on the 1450. The other was it missed a very long driveway in rural Virginia - only by under 100 feet tho.

GREAT VALUE

Pros: big screen, user friendly, awesome poi database
Cons: would like to see volume/mute on each screen

Bought it for travelling a couple weeks in Florida. Worked flawlessly in getting us around Tampa and central Florida. Junction view is cool...lane assist wasn't always bang on,eg,it would indicate only one exit lane when there were two, butthis is minor. Was low on gas on the freeway and searched for gas stations using Points of Interest. It got us to a station faster than I could have imagined. Paid for itself many times over in the two weeks we were there.

GREAT TOOL FOR DIRECTIONAL FOOL

Pros: user friendly. large size
Cons: need to remove from car in hot weather

I chose Garmin because it was so user friendly. I could have purchased another GPS cheaper but was able to use this one in the store without any help. I have used it to find several places and I have not gotten lost yet. My daughter has the smaller version and I think the larger one is easier to push the info into while driving. It gives all street names. We ran it side by side with my factory Acura TL unit and they were almost identical in timing and directions except that the Garmin maps were more up to date,

FAST, BUT POOR FLEXABILITY

Pros: speed
Cons: no flexability

This large screen GPS is very fast and accurate, but it continues in the current GPS trend on having little or no flexability. I would love a GPS (like the old Garmin III+) that allowed each field on each screen to be changed to meet the users needs. This divice has remarkable abilities that are locked in to the end user.

EXCELLENT GPS

I've been using this GPS for about three weeks. The free lifetime map and traffic updates are the main reasons why I bought the 1450 LMT. The unit works great, huge screen is awesome, simple to use. The only concern I have had so far was in Manhattan when the unit could not acquire a satellite signal for a few minutes, then it got a wrong location, but I used a different brand GPS before and had the same issues with it also. Overall, I like this GPS and would recommend it to others.

Accurate device providing generally good lane change advice. Very useful in dense multiple lane hiways. Very good for some one rving. Easy to find points of interest and associated routes. Grocery, mechanic, camp grounds,...

When asked to avoid toll routes it took a long time to recalculate directions. (Happened twice in 28 days rving in Florida)

1450LMT HAS GOOD FEATURES

Pros: large screen, good colour in lighting conditions.
Cons: no auto-reverse routing. elevation units.

I read various GPS reviews and decided on this model. I did not need a bluetooth connection and this gps seemed to be filled with features.

It has great screen colorsin all lighting conditions. The voice volume is adjustable.

I was travelling from Ontario into NY State. I put in the route and for the majority of the way, it chose the highways I would have taken. It gets a little confused around exit ramps. Keep in mind you have to read the highway signs too!

The speed limit over feature was great. Once I got into NY State the feature worked. I changed my units from Km to Mi so I wasn't always trying to calculate what my true speed was.

I upgraded the units software upon receiving the unit. I read where there was a problem with the unit freezing. Well it did freeze on me a couple of times prior to my trip. Then just before my trip I upgraded again. The unit hasn't froze up since.

I was disappointed in two areas. It is not with just this unit but all garmin units. I could not change my altitude to feet from metres. Garmin support indicates there is no custom options like those found in the hand-helds. The 2nd is there is no auto-reverse route feature. I read on the forums there is too many factors to consider when reversing a route. You have to create a route backwards or enjoy the calculated route that the units software provides.

The 5" screen is a plus and the suction cup has even held on during -30C temperatures.

Haven't had a situation where the traffic feature was tried.

GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY.

Pros: very good value for the money. ease of use.
Cons: lack of instruction. poor auto power hookup.

For the price, a great buy. Easy to use once you get to know it. However no thanks to Garmin who provided a lack of information on how to use the unit. This is my second GPS from Garmin, the first being a Street Pilot III. Understandably quite a difference. Bit of a problem on initial set up due to lack of information and instructions. Had to go to Garmin Support several times for direction and to clarify points. For example there are a lot of files loaded on the unit you will likely never use such as the foreign language files for voice, help, etc. This takes up a lot of space and as a result I could not load the current North America map data files. Once I deleted the redundant files I was OK. Eventually figured this out on my own. Would have helped if Garmin had provided this info with the unit. Some other minor problems related to provision of information and how to do things. Still learning. The unit is very good and excellent value with the inclusion of lifetime maps. Auto power hook up a bit of a nuisance in that you have to unplug from back of unit every time you remove from car. Would be nice if they continued with the power unit plug in on the holder so you could just insert the unit vs having to play around with connection prior to putting the unit on the holder. Would have given a higher rating if there were better instructions provided with the system vs having to figure it out for myself.

GOOD, BUT NOT AWESOME

Pros: big screen, free map updates
Cons: weak traffic updates, poor support, bad interface

I've had this for about three weeks. The free map updates are the main reason I bought it, and the huge screen at such a low price was also great. The Lane Assist seemed like a good idea, and the free Traffic Updates also seemed great.

In reality, the GPS isn't so great. It has a handful of problems that drive me crazy.

The overhead view Browse Map seems great at first in that you can move the map by dragging. The reality is that more often than not, the GPS will register your initial touch point as where you're trying to get to, so when you touch, drag, and lift, it will suddenly drag back to center on where you first touched and pop up a bubble of info on that point. VERY annoying.

The Traffic Updates are worthless. I'm not sure how they get their data, but it is usually too little, too late. I've gotten stuck in several traffic jams that hadn't been reported to the Garmin service yet, and I've driven through roads the device said were jammed but were clear as day when I drove through. Not sure how their update system works, but it may as well not be there at all.

The ad pop-ups are moderately annoying. While I'm sure the ad support lowered the price of the device, it doesn't let you close ads without first opening them. It's kinda annoying when I'm trying to figure out where to turn and there's an ad over my map that tells me of a "deal" at Red Lobster. I hate Red Lobster. It's even worse when I want to zoom in or out. If there were a simple "x" to close, that'd be fine, but there isn't. And, with time, it just gets maddening.

The Lane Assist is good sometimes, and absolute catastrophic failure others. It comes on automatically when it thinks you're looking at the device, but I have yet to find a way to force it to come on. So, if you're not constantly watching your device, you miss it. Also, it has no way of telling that other exits are really close. So, there have been several times that it's told me to stay in the far right lane, but there are actually one or two other exits within 1/2 or 1/4 mile. "Oh, you mean the far right lane that appears as the on ramp after THIS exit that I can't escape now. Thanks." Lots of rage.

Voices are kinda broken on this thing. I used this to replace a StreetPilot 330c. First thing I did was go to set up the voice as Karen, the female Australian English. She wasn't there, so I had to download her using a separate piece of Garmin web software. Once I got her installed, I can't help but notice that she sounds much choppier on this newer GPS than she did on my old one. Not a big deal, but how does upgrading cause a loss of quality? And the voice difference is just disconcerting. Imagine if your friend of three years suddenly started stuttering all the time. It'd just be weird. That's the feeling here.

This brings me to another issue Garmin's website support is HORRIBLE. I swear I had to download four different pieces of software from four different locations on their website to do (or try to do) different things, and NONE of them were linked from some centralized location. So it was pretty much "Google how to do this, oh, here it is" rather than "go to the 1450LMT main product support page and see a list of things I might want to do and links directly to what to do with them." Things like transfer my favorites from my 330c to this. Or install a new voice. Or subscribe to traffic updates (secret: no subscription). Or download map updates. In fact, map updates are the only thing the device tells you how to do when you buy it. Everything else? Figure it out.

Speaking of map updates, you used to be able to buy and download a stand-alone map update file to install on your GPS. I had been hoping that I could use the free map updates to update my 330c and keep it as a travel backup. No such luck. Updates now require connecting the device to the computer and using web software to verify the device and update maps. I guess Garmin did this due to piracy. Own three Garmin devices? Pay for the same map data three times.

Which brings me to another thing: Garmin doesn't provide simple software to transplant way points and routes from one GPS to another. I emailed them asking how to do this and got a response several days later describing how to move a .GPX file from one folder to another. Being a computer guy, not only was it simple to me, but I'd already read about this on the internet. Unfortunately, my 330c doesn't show up as a drive when I plug it into my computer. I'd already had to install a 3rd party free software to do this. Glad I'm a computer guy with the know-how to figure out this techie crap, but what's the average user expected to do? Scream in frustration.

Garmin should have a standardized product support page for all of their products with links and How-To's for all common tasks.

GOOD BUT NOT GREAT

Pros: large screen, easy menu
Cons: routing may not be the optimum

Have used the 1450 twice now and generally the unit does a very good job. Love the 5" display - bright and easy to read. Love the Garmin menu system as compared to others I have used. I had it confused for a little while during a detour during the first use because I exited an interstate onto a parallel street. I took it a while to determine I was no longer on the interstate. The parallel road was about 200 yards off the interstate. The 1450 also used an unusual route to my destination that was obviously longer in time and distance. The route would have gotten me to my destination but do not understand the algorithm being used. I like the talking feature and it does not talk as much as a MIO that I have used in the past that became so annoying that I muted it. In general, I like the 1450 and would recommend it.

GARMIN 1450LMT

Pros: via points-a must,poi-for gas stations,banks/atms,
Cons: must change state annoying 4 dcmdva or nynjct area

I bought this gps unit for a courier job. I didn't know much about gps units at the time but figured that I would need the lifetime map & traffic updates. That the main reason I chose this unit. The price was fantastic $159.99 and I thought I needed a 5" screen. I now know 4.3" would have been fine. I'm currently looking for a 1350/1390 LMT for my mother (might keep it and give the 1450LMT to her) and would recommend this unit or the 1350/1390LMT units to someone looking to buy a gps unit. I wish there was a way to incorporate it into the dashboard of my car! Recalculates ETA based on speed and traffic. I can add multiple via points for multiple deliveries. I think they need to exploit this and design one for couriers/delivery people. You must change the state when transitioning in tristate areas like dc/md/va or ny/nj/ct. This can be annoying when you cross/recross state lines frequently. I guess it's part of the learning curve.

Great help to get around the city. Clear instructions with ample notice of lane change requirements. Only one issue where the nuvi is saying take a road when the 'DO NOT ENTER' sign would prefer I didn't. I would imagine common sense should prevail.

GPS TECHNOLOGY FINALLY CATCHING UP

Pros: responsive, fast, sensitive touchscreen
Cons: takes 20-30 min to acquire satellites on first use

I've always found that GPS units were clunky to use as the screens were not very responsive and the processing power was very slow. Finally GPS units are approaching the usability of an iphone. This GPS unit responds to a light touch, and doesn't require mashing the screen many times to get a response. Typing on the virtual keyboard is great. Route calculations are very fast. This is a great GPS unit for under $200.

It took a little long (20-30 min) to acquire satellites when you first turn it on, and it doesn't give you much feedback (satellite strength indicator says 1 bar) but once that's done, you'll get 4-5 bars and the GPS will re-acquire satellites pretty much as soon as you turn it on any other time.

GARMIN 1450LMT EXCEEDS EXPECTATIONS!

Pros: lifetime map updates, traffic feature, large screen
Cons: slow map loading (startup), basic accessories

I already own a garmin 750, that I've been very happy with. This unit is definitely an upgrade in all facets - capability, function and feel. Extraordinary value for the money - so far no complaints. It is super quick on finding locations during searches, and display features (i.e. screen size, lane assist) just make it a pleasure to use. Definitely a keeper at this price point!

GARMIN GPS (MY FIRST ONE EVER!!)

Pros: easy to use, easy to set up.

GARMIN NUVI 1450 LMT - A VERY GOOD UNIT

Pros: large clear screen
Cons: power cord - won't work with other devices like bb

Worked as advertised. The Larger Screen is great!

I was surprised how loud you can make this work. Well above the road noise. Map update is painfully slow from the Web and the Browser Plug in is a bit Flaky. Hopefully it will now have the correct streets in Metro Vancouver after the update.

Pros: complet et facile d'utilisation
Cons: aucun.

GREAT BANG FOR THE BUCK

Pros: lots of great features for a low price
Cons: none

I got this unit on a Black Friday special and it has all the features that I wanted. Voice navigation is very nice (where it speaks the street names) as is the visual indications on freeway exits for some of the more complex freeway exits. It has already saved me from at least one traffic jam on a freeway using it's traffic updates - it automatically routed me around the disruption without a thought. So handy! Finally, I love the fact that I will get free map updates for the life of the unit. If you price out the cost of map updates (or a lifetime subscription) you'll see the cost benefit in having it included.

BIG IMPROVEMENT OVER THE STREET PILOT.

One of the best improvments in this modle is that it lets you know whitch direction you will be turning befor you get to close to get in the correct lane. Our old street pilot would tell you how far it is to the next turn but by the time it showed or told you witch direction to turn it would often be to late to get in the right lane and make the turn when pulling our fifth wheel in the city. Garmin needs to put more information in the help screens about the SCREEN SHOTS! I could not find anything that told me what this could be good for or how to find the stored pictures. It was only after I connected my 1450 to my computer that I found the picturs of the screens I had made. When you connect it to a computer it list two removable storage devices. One is the GPS storage and the other is the Micro SD chip if you have installed one in your 1450. The SCREEN SHOTS are stored on the GPS hard drive not on the SD chip. The nice thing about it is you can take pictures of a map screen with a route on it and Email them to someone for directions. The other thing you can do with the 1450 is make pictures with you digital camera that uses an SD chip with a mico adapter then plug the micro SD into the 1450 and view them as a slid show. It works like a digital picture fram in our trailer when we are on vacation. Hope this helps.

GARMIN NUVI 1450 LMT

Pros: works right out of the box, clear 5 inch screen.
Cons: no owner's manual just a "quick start" booklet.

This is my first GPS unit which I received from GPS City on December 23, 2010 and so far I absolutely love it. I also ordered the Garmin model 010-10908-02 "bean bag" for sitting on the dash. What a great combination! The 1450LMT performed right out of the box and has a short learning curve (easy to follow menus). Garmin only supplies a "quick start" guide - no full length owner's manual. I downloaded the manual from garmin.com which is a little inconvenient but not enough to give it a 4 rating instead of the 5. I am 59 years old with just enough tech savy to get into trouble! I have used it only a few times, all locally, but I can tell from this short time that this unit is a high quality item with a lot of features that can be customized for individual taste. I would recommend both the 1450 LMT and GPS City for having this unit at a very competitive price and delivering it as promised within 3 days (I paid a small charge for the 3 day delivery). The 1450 LMT makes for a more confident and enjoyable driving experience. Believe me, this GPS unit has everything I need and is easy to learn to use. Thanks GPSCity.com

GOOD BUT COULD BE BETTER

Pros: clear & clean screen, neat, easy to navigate thru
Cons: slow on detour info

The Garmin 1450LMT is a good piece. It worked for me right out of the box. Started right up with a bright and clear screen worth of information. One of the cool features is the speed limit notice with actual speed next to it. Your speed turns red when you are over the limit. Cute! Another more important and good feature is its ease of use. Most of the essential components are fairly intuitive. You can figure out what you have to do next either by worded instruction or by symbol. I like that. Another element is the clarity of voice instructions. Admittedly, they can be annoying when turns come up very close together, but it is good to hear as well as see what you are to do. In a few instances, the nuvi 1450 was a bit slow to go to the next instruction when a turn was needed. But for the most part it worked well. When it came to make a detour it took too long for the instrument to readjust to the new info. It seemed to be lost in thought. On another occasion when the road split it failed to notify which lane to take, eg, stay right or left. That was a negative. The nuvi 1450 ltm takes time to start up, calculating where it is, but once on target it mostlyly stays true. It enabled me to update the maps from scratch without a hitch when I did it for the first time ever. I was unaware of how much time it took. I am still learning about this gps. It is my second one, but already it has outperformed the one I had, also a Garmin.

EASY TO USE, GREAT DISPLAY

Pros: large screen with great contrast.
Cons: does not highlight crossroads on top of screen.

This is the 3rd GPS I've purchased over the years, and this has a lot of great features. Beautiful display, easy to see, qwerty keyboard for typing addresses. Great display for interstate exits, it really helps you to be in the proper lane. Lifetime maps and traffic a big plus. Only drawback for me is that when driving it does not highlight on top of screen the intersecting roads as you approach them, and there is not alternate route suggested for traffic congestion.

GREAT AUTO GPS BUT STILL NOT THE BEST

Pros: big display, lane assist, lifetime map and traffic
Cons: poor routing

I upgraded from Garmin iQue M5 (a top of the line Pocket PC GPS) to Nuvi 1450LMT. I like the bigger screen, spoken street names and traffic update. I don't mind the pop up ad from the free traffic. The speed limit works in Buffalo but does not work in Toronto. The traffic update did show a big accident on QEW but also showed red on some sections which there was no problem at all. The routing is not as good as my 5 year old M5, but it will take you to the destination eventually.

GARMIN NUVI 1450 LMT

Pros: newer unit with more features
Cons: difficult viewing in daytime/sunlight

I will leave a detailed discussion to other reviewers but wish to point out one major disappointment. The screen is much harder to view than my Nuvi 750. I'm not sure if that's because of the larger screen but it is difficult to see in the daylight while wearing sunglasses. Even with sunglasses removed the screen seems to wash out in sunlight much more than my 750 did. In all other respects it is superior to the 750, as one might expect.

As with the 750 I am also disappointed that when searching cities with the same name the states are not listed alphabetically.

NOT THE BEST AUTO GPS

Pros: 5 inch screen
Cons: can't customize settings,

this 1450LMT is my 5th Garmin. The outdoor series are by far the best GPS on the market, automotive this thing is not in the same boat. I bought this unit because I purchased a new vehicle, in the previous I had installed a Kenwood Stereo which has a Garmin Navigation system. I bought this GPS thinking the operating system would be the same, surprise to me its not. COmparing the Kenwood/Garmin to the NUVI 1450 is the same as comparing a base model car with no power options to a fully loaded car with every option available. the 1450 will announce upcoming highway exits but wont do upcoming streets, limited to only lat/long coordinate. I am not able to get the zoom to remain, as you go faster or on a highway it zooms out. I want the option of doing it manually and not forced to do it. The traffic alert thing doesnt work, well in Ottawa i gave me a RED alert, there was 4 cars on the highway with me, no one on the roads due to this freezing rain. the other day same things at 3am when there is no one on the roads. This device will work for 95% of consumers but if your a techie and in the 5% you will probably be disappointed.

IT'S BETTER TO BUY THE 1490LMT

Pros: nice interface, quality design, garmin support
Cons: no bluetooth, annoying silver frame around screen

Returned it after 1 week and changed it for the nüvi 1490LMT.

For almost the same price, buy the nüvi 1490LMT with lifetime map updates, FM antenna with lifetime traffic information and Bluetooth support for hands-free calling.

Also, when driving during the night, the silver frame around the screen is very annoying. However, the nüvi 1490LMT has a black frame.
