NICE GPS AND SERVICE
Pros: fully featured - bluetooth, loud, big fonts
Cons: us subscription of nulink only
I bought this GPS from GPSCity, I did not find it anywhere else... Whats best about it was its features and the nuLink. Unfortunately this GPS model is from US and will not have nuLink in Canada. If you need, you need to buy the subscription... However, in this price, this GPS is worth having so many features and works amazing. Service at the site was also nice, although on backorder, I got it in reasonable time (pretty quick I would say).

GARMIN NUVI 1690
Pros: every feature we need and more.
Cons: none
We have two 1690's, one for the car and one for the bike. Both work exactly as expected, no problems.

SLOW ROUTE CALCULATION
Love the connected features, but not fond of the routing engine. I've had two now that take several minutes to calculate a route while the vehicle is moving. When stopped, route calculation is slow, but not too bad. Garmin's customer service techs have no good answer why this happens.
Recommend? NO

GOOD AUTOMOTIVE GPS
Pros: big bright screen
Cons: sub-options
Overall this is a really good GPS. The downsides are some of the options that have been removed from my previous GPS (nuvi 350). You can only mute all sounds, not mute the voice directions and still keep the previous beep warning prior to a turn. I haven't used the "google" search since I'm overseas, but it promises to be handy for updated info (weather, movies, etc).

1690 NOT DEPENDABLE GARMIN IS SENDING THIRD UNIT
I have had cerious trouble with first 2 units and now garmin is sending me a third unit.

Pros: everything
Cons: does have some annoying advertising one in a while
Very easy to use with a lot of features. Garmin made it completely customizable from sound to the look of your car icon.

I had a hard time deciding to buy this unit with some of the reviews.I went ahead an purchased one three weeks ago.I love this thing Garmin must have fixed the bugs this unit works great love the Google search,white pages etc.Have not had any problem with and I have played with it a lot.At first I didn't like the pop up Ads.as soon as you are moving they go away,If it helps keep the cost down I don't mind.So far 2300 Miles with it.GPS City was very helpful when I called with questions before I purchased.Keep up the good work

NUVI 1690
Pros: lots of features, easy to use.
Cons: none
Just took my first long trip with the 1690. I keep finding more features that make it a real plus on any drive, regardless of long haul trips or just around town. This is a very nice unit.
Recommend? YES

NEW 1690 NEW FEATURES AND NEW POWER !
Pros: live data !!
The live data capability is super.. traffic warnings WORK and the ability to check so many things from hotels to fuel prices at a button click is absolutely amazing.. !

GARMIN NUVI 1690
Pros: screen layout
Cons: not useful in canada
Nice features, screen redesign great with speed, direction, directions and colour coded rodes. Trouble is 99% of those nuvi features (airplane, google sites, traffic, etc) are not available in Canada. Maybe Toronto. So save the dollars and get a non-nuvi featured item if living outside a major american city

GARMIN GOOGLE SEARCH HITS THE SPOT
Pros: google search, unlimited uptodate poi's
Cons: screen flickering, viewing angle
Typical Garmin unit. Excellent GPS, very accurate, seems faster than previous units that I have used. The screen specs are the same as 885t, however the viewing angle is not as good (unit needs to be at or close to eye level for best clarity). Also, have experienced some screen flickering while it is accessing data (ie weather info). Seems ok most of the time. I exchanged my original unit because of flickering, new one does the same thing. Look for firmware update from Garmin.
