STRAIGHTFORWARD

Pros: large screen
Cons: garmin litterature as usual.

It onkly takes a few minutes to familiarized with the GPS. It offers more functions than I care for. Seems it's accurate enough.

GLAD I UPGRADED

Pros: larger screen, better maps, seems more accurate
Cons: have to push more buttons to do some things

Got the 2555 because I wanted 5" screen and Lane Assist. I like the 3D maps, larger screen and some of the other functions. The reviews I've read about no warning of turns and no street names is true if you select Michelle for your voice. If you select Jill warnings and names are provided and very accurately in the little experience I've had with it. Don't know why Garmin did that. Hope the people who complained about that problem have since found that out.

GARMIN NUVI 2555LMT REVIEW

Pros: large screen and user friendly
Cons: map isn't as good as i'd like for my area.

I was impressed with the large screen and it is very easy to use. I updated the maps and quickly discovered the map data for my home area in Northern Saskatchewan is very outdated. It wasn't until I was about 100 kms south that I was actually seeing the road I was on. I had purchased the MicroSD Australia and New Zealand City Navigator NT 2012 because I was going there on holidays and it worked great there. I didn't find any roads there that weren't displayed correctly on the screen. I didn't start using the other features until later in my trip and they were useful.

DISSAPPOINTED

Pros: qwerty keyboard.
Cons: software, ie: navigation, speech

Had to replace ny 1390 due to a theft, had to make a quick decision to get back on the road and bought it at a local retailer without doing any research. Very disappointed. I totally agree with the comment about late warnings for the turns. No more prewarning either, Its not safe to use, forces you to look at it to cornfirm your next turn. If your going to Mexico, DONT USE THIS!!! It lead me thru Guadalajara central instead of the ring road. Ready to throught this unit out the window and count my loss.

The 2555 works as described in the documentation. I'm very pleased with this GPS device. This is my third car Garmin device and they get better every time.

Pros: quick reroute
Cons: all of the above

Needs to give earlier/more turn notices. Have not heard any street names given even though it states it announces street names. You drive by your location before it announces you have arrived. Can't watch the GPS and drive at the same time. Too many bells and whistles when it needs more attention to the basics. Hmmmmm. In many ways I prefer my old Lowrance.

USEFUL

Cons: i dislike the advertising

Don't know why but old streetmaste 2710 had more detailed results from searches for restaurants or accomodation. Cant search for motes/hotels without typing characters in search field. 2710 had an icon to press. Sometimes doesn't locate a restaurant when I am sitting outside it. Good map detail. Easy to follow when driving. I dislike the perenial advertising to rate Best Western and earn Western points. I dislike the continued opportunities to rate restaurants after routing to them. It is not intuitively obvious how to cancel a route when plans change.

GARMIN FALL DOWN IN MY OPINION

Pros: good speed response, simple to use
Cons: bugs, translation in french, voices

Product sold before finished. Some compatibility announced by Garmin don't work. Garmin locate don't work on this unit. The excellent team of gpscity confirm it and Garmin don't want to take a look at the problem. Some e-mail later Garmin said everything is allright. But now they find a solution with me : no more answer to this client. Some translations in french are note made. Voice with TTS very far from the quality of Tomtom. Bugs in the software : example : a route at 46km indicates : you arrived in 8500km ! Eco route not yet available.
