Here's a few things you can do to try to correct these problems: 1) Make sure that you have your route preferences set accordingly (shorter distance, less fuel, etc.). 2) Check that you do not have your GPS set to avoid highways. 3) Update the firmware in your GPS. 4) If all else fails, give Garmin a call at 1-800-800-1020. Navigate with Ease
The Garmin nuvi 255W comes ready to go right out of the box with preloaded City Navigator® NT street maps, including a hefty points of interest (POIs) database with hotels, restaurants, fuel, ATMs and more. Simply touch the color screen to enter a destination, and the Garmin nuvi 255W takes you there with 2D or 3D maps and turn-by-turn voice directions. In addition, the Garmin nuvi 255W accepts custom points of interest (POIs), such as school zones and safety cameras and lets you set proximity alerts to warn you of upcoming POIs.
