MY REVIEW OF THE NUVI 265 WT,GPS

Pros: easy to use.
Cons: lost voice when needed,no free upgrades.

We are resonable happy with this unit, despite the loss of voice going through Las Vegas, but again it did get us through a city park going through Tri-Cities, this was absolutely amazing.

FIRST AUTOMOTIVE GPS

Pros: user friendly

It's my first vehicule gps and although I only add it for a little wild I think it's an excellent unit. The reason I went with the 265wt was for the bluetooth option and it works great!!!

BLUETOOTH DOESN'T WORK PROPERLY

The bluetooth is spotty at best. It doesn't always recognize my phone. Even when it does, weird things like it can't answer or hang-up calls.

LIKE IT A LOT

We now have 2 of these 260wt GPS my kids were always borrowing our 1st unit so I bought 2nd. We find them easy to use, love the traffic info, speed limit advisor(only in the US thought). I have used it in the UK with the SIM card maps, works great. We also have a 260w unit still going strong after 3 yrs.

VERY GOOD

Pros: easy to use, bluetooth works well with my iphone.
Cons: as mentioned in message body.

The thing that is missing for my usage is being able to charge the phone and Gps at the same time using the gps car charging cable.

AN AWESOME USER FRIENDLY GPS!

Pros: user friendly, compact and fast.
Cons: none

Bought this unit as an extra to our still working 3 y/o Nuvi 250. Always liked the functions and found it user friendly. We were in the States recently and decided to buy one there. Our friends have a TomTom and forever took the wrong turns. Since our GPS worked better, they followed us. Love the Bluetooth and the Traffic updates. Just ordered a Garmin bike mount. Highly recommended.

GOOD AND NOT SO GOOD

Pros: screen resolution, spoken street names
Cons: nonreplaceable battery, map inaccuracy, bad in sun

This is our 2nd Nuvi, replacing a 4 y/o that stopped holding a charge. Easy to use, and reception is better than TomTom in cover. Voice doesn't always get the street name right (County Road became Owwndy Route, German Road became Gemma Road) but you can figure it out. Maps not always accurate - it completely ignores some roads and can take you miles out of your way. But these faults are common in all GPS. The Nuvi screen graphics are great, but it doesn't do well in direct sunlight. It is VERY SLOW to acquire satellites, but perhaps marginally better than the first one we had. These are all long-standing problems that Garmin could fix, but hasn't. It is very accurate to position - we've even used for geocaching, and it is surprisingly good. In spite of the problems, we went with the same unit because in most cases it does very well, and compared to others we've seen (friends units, like the TomTom) it is better.

AWESOME DEAL

Pros: size, traffic at no cost, portable, personalizable
Cons: the 12 volt cord won't charge my blackberry

Just bought a second one for my wife. Ontario needs hands free and this unit Bluetooth's with our BlackBerry Curves perfectly. Also Ottawa has activated Traffic FM transmission in December so the funtion I found in-valuable in Tampa last winter now works here. The custom POI databases are amazing.

GARMIN NUVI 265WT

Pros: ease of use, wide screen. outstanding tech support!
Cons: needs updated route info of canada

Update from my original review: I emailed Garmin about losing Sat reception in the mountains and on the open prairie. Within hours of posting, I received precise instructions from Garmin Tech support. Did a software update and a master reset. Works fine, no lose of reception on a 3000km trip across the cereal flats. Only minor complaint after using this unit for three trips, covering Nanaimo to Winnipeg, is it needs more up to date route info on new 4 lane expansions.

V GOOD GPS FOR CARS

Pros: screen size and maps.
Cons: voice not always clear.

This is my second Garmin and first automotive GPS. Have always been happy with running unit so that was, in part, why I bought Garmin for car also. I did spend a lot of time looking at others and decided this was the way to go for me. Seems to be fast at finding the satellite and the maps and instructions are clear. Voice has trouble with some street names but not a big issue for me. Used it in California, Nevada and Arizona recently and found it invaluable for finding our way around. I programmed in our hotels and points of interest before we left and don't think we had a misstep the entire 1200 mile trip. Has features I didn't think I would use much but turns out some are quite handy. Purchased this unit partly for the hands free bluetooth with my cell phone which seems to work fine.

EASY TO OPERATE, POOR SENSITIVITY?

Pros: easy to use, wide screen
Cons: loses sat reception the british voice

Plug n play Two trips with it so far. Temporarily lost Sat reception 4 - 5 xs on a trip from Canmore through the mtns to the coast (Vcr) but on return trip no problems. Lost Sat reception on the wide open prairies 3-4xs on a recent trip. FM traffic works in Vcr area. British voice uses wierd pronunciations "fifty two street" Garmin's actual info is wierd sometimes as it breaks hwy 93 from Castle Junction to Radium into 4 sections yet it is a mtn hwy with no other possible routes.

PRICE IS APPROPIRATE

Pros: competitively priced wide screen easy to use
Cons: no seperate volume button maps are old nav poor

I believe, the reason I bought it because it offered the right features for the price. Since the more expensive ones don't really have features that work in or around Toronto.

However, this model has its drawbacks with missing features and most importantly it does not have an independant VOLUME button. You have to go through bunch of screens to adjust the volume, IE make it dangerous to drive.

The traffic works sort of in Toronto.

GREAT GPS

Pros: i like the fact i can sync it with my cell phone.
Cons: it would be nice if it came with a storage case

It appears to be a very good product. It is much easier to operate than the in-car type you get in a new car and much more affordable.

GARMIN NUVI 265WT

Pros: great unit, lots of extras, easy to use, fast
Cons: weak speaker phone, battery life is short,

This is a great unit for the money, more than I thought I would get. Screen is bright, easy to read, and pretty accurate. But I must say it has some issues I wish would be resolved. The speaker is weak on the phone side, you feel as though you have to yell to be heard, mounted on the windshield makes even harder to understand the other party. Searching for cities, POI's using direct entry doesn't work most of the time, even when sitting on the parking lot of the place I was looking for. Routing isn't to accurate either, it wanted to take me places I knew was wrong, going around the block to enter a freeway entrance when it was straight ahead of me. I understand it's not perfect and for that I accept it's flaws, overall it did a great job getting me to Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Arizona and home without almost getting lost. Wish I could download all my travel data to keep a record of it. Would I recommend it to others, Yes!

GOOD SYSTEM

Pros: ease of use, connecting to satellite

Good portable GPS system. As I got it for a gift, I am not aware of what the final sale price was, but so far, i am happy with it. It connects to satellites quickly (I have friends who have other maker's models, and it can take a good 5 mins before connecting to a satellite!!), even driving around Boston, MA.

GREAT PRODUCT

For the price, the 265WT is a great value considering the advanced functionality.I don't think there is any other better GPS in the market with such a low price and all of the features. The blue tooth hands-free speaker quality is just okay, but that's not the major function of the receiver. In short if you are looking for an affordable high quality GPS look no further than the Nuvi 265WT.
