GOOD FOR DRIVING – NOT GOOD FOR WALKING
Pros: accurate (once it finally acquires satellites) Cons: very slow to acquire - ineffective for walking
I purchased this GPS because I had several trips to Europe planned. This GPS did a really good job of getting me around Bavaria – once is actually manages to find satellites, that is. Why are Garmins so stinking slow to link up with a satellite? (Friends Magellan’s and Tom Toms acquire satellites MUCH faster!) It even appeared to be more accurate than the in-dash unit un-expectantly included with the rental car – once it acquired satellites.
However, when it came to walking directions while sightseeing in unfamiliar cities, this unit is a bust. I am convinced the GPS antenna doesn’t function effectively unless the power cord is plugged into the unit. Even in open areas, it was painfully slow to acquire satellites and when it did, it seemed to lose them within a half a block. I really like the compact size and the large screen (in relation to overall size. I thought the thin size would make it portable enough for use while walking around cities but I found the system completely unusable for this purpose.
It’s a good over-the-road GPS (once it finally acquires satellites) but don’t swallow the hype its “walk mode” and other tourist/sightseeing capabilities.
And finally, the built-in traffic radio receiver did function in the larger metropolitan areas in Germany.

First one I got did not do / show Trip Tracking. Second one works perfectly. Able to hold all of Canada US and Mexico. Able to show points of interest at a distance and not just a short distance. Where Am I lets you key in your own description immediately. Cost of shipping of return not given nor original shipping not refunded.

STILL NEEDS WORK
Pros: slim, quick start up, great for around town use Cons: mult-waypoint function almost completely useless
Garmin finally has the software updated to allow multiple- waypoint routes...until you cause the unit to recalculate. Then it only takes you to the next waypoint, not your final destination. Still playing tag with Garmin support to see if I can make an entire trip without re-initializing a route. Unit works great if you only route to one point, it boots quick and acquires satellites much faster than my old 276C, I just can't understand why Garmin left the routing function so hard to use. Garmin also decided not to allow loading routes from Mapsource, only waypoints.

NOT UP TO GARMINS STANDARDS
Pros: mount works well Cons: piece of junk
Bought this last fall for a trip to Maine and have had nothing but problems. Unit locks up, starts veering off course as if you had taken an exit off highway, starts constantly rebooting and on and on. Have worked with tech support and have had the unit exchanged with same results. I have 2 other Garmins and both work fine. This one is pure junk, don't buy.

GOOD PRODUCT
Pros: size Cons: spelling of street names
Works very well as most Garmin products. Spelling is somehow difficult to understand for French/English names. Thin and very nice.
