GARMIN NUVI 3790LMT
Pros: great maps, display and features Cons: voice cmd works good but takes a bit of practice
Picked this unit up after reading several reviews online - GPS City had the best price online for it too and shipped very quick! Unit features are great, split screen shows exact look of the exits approaching and what lane to exit at. I ran into a few problems updating the maps the 1st time but part that was a learning curve. Make sure you install the Garmin communicator program and the Garmin USB Drivers for Win 7 from the Garmin website 1st, then connect the Garmin unit and run the communicator program to update. Screen on this unit looks great, volume is pretty good for the voice responses from the unit but you can also buy a different window mount from garmin with a louder/better quality speaker inside of it. The voice command feature on my unit worked almost all of the time with not having to scream at the unit, just speak up a little (Turn your radio down when you do this). It only failed to display the correct info the 1st time 1-2 times out of the 20 or so times I've used this feature. Picked up a Swiss Gear Model: GA-6317-06F00 case from Best-Buy that fits the Unit and the power cord perfectly inside the dual sided case. If you want to fit the window mount in case too, you'll have to get a bigger case than this one but i put the window mount inside the glove box when not in use. So far, i'm very happy with this unit after a month or more of daily use!

UNWANTED ADVERTS
Pros: good gps Cons: annoying and unwanted adverts
Good GPS, my second one of this model, but adverts ruin the experience. If I am prepared to pay extra for traffic then Garmin should not subject me to unwanted adverts. The only way to stop them is to turn off the traffic.

GARMIN NUVI 3790LMT GPS NOT WORTH THE MONEY
Cons: software & map updates don't work with windows 7,
This Garmin GPS 3790LMT appeared to be the top of the 3700 series Garmin GPSs so I bought it to replace my previous Garmin 3760T which 11 months decided to freeze and then overheat to the point you couldn't touch it for several hours. Unfortunately I wished I'd stayed with the 3760T and just paid the extra for lifetime map updates. The 3790LMT only able to contact satelites if positioned next to windows in vehicle. The 3790LMT appears to have a limited list of G3 & G4 cell phones that it is able to pair with.

NICE HARDWARE - SHAME ABOUT THE SOFTWARE
Pros: well constructed gps unit and it runs fine Cons: pathetic software support, unfriendly website
This unit is the first GPS I have owned (used heaps in my job in emergency services). I live in Australia and got it with the North America Maps for a trip to Canada in Sept 2011 (Oh so close now!). I was hoping to use the MapSource software to do all my route planning and then upload to the GPS - well you cannot do that! I could only load the waypoints and had to re-create all routes in the GPS. Why does a company like Garmin (good name) build nice hardware which can link to a PC and not be bothered to update their supporting software? Trying to find software to create POI files which can be read by MapSource was also a real challenge. The Garmin website is basically unfriendly for finding updates and support. My next test is the Canada road trip - if I find my back I will do another review!

IMPROVEMENTS? YES, BUT ROOM FOR MORE.
Pros: speed limit display Cons: too much effort to activate commands.
The speech recognition feature is a definite plus but requires almost as much effort and concentration as using the touch screen. My unit requires shouting. Using the touch screen in the upper right corner (Points of Interest and Fuel) requires so much pressure that I have to squeeze the front and back of the unit. At times, the unit will flash acknowledgement of the touch but not respond to the command, even after serveral touches. Map detail is also less than older units have. The unit will go through or by a city without ever displaying the name of the city or surrounding cities. The new mapping software includes street detail in Canada and Alaska and is more accurate than past software versions. Lifetime map updates is a big plus as is the speed limit display. Selectable displays (arrive time, arrive miles, etc.) is also a plus. I preferred the "Near" display of older units where "near" always appeared and did not have to be selected.

NOT WORTH THE MONEY
Pros: lmt, small, light, easy to read Cons: touchscreen horrible, speed alert not standard
There were good things about the gps but some basic flaws in a system that costs so much. The touchscreen must hit very hard and sometimes 2 or 3 times so difficult if driving and basic standards are missing like speed alert, the speed limit and your speed are right there and it turns red if over so how hard could it have been to have beep, you can program it to give you a very annoying alert at specific areas like POS but not in general, to me this is bad design

GARMIN 3790LMT
Pros: great screen and junction view Cons: can't import routes from google maps or mapquest
I like this GPS. By far the coolest looking GPS out there and the screen resolution is great. Downloading a newer map only took about an hour and updating the firmware was even faster. I spent a lot of money to upgrade to the 3790LMT from a 750. It never occurred to me that some basic functions I took for granted on the 750 would not be available on this newer device--such as importing routes from MapQuest or GoogleMaps. Also, for these higher resolution models, the POI bitmaps should be larger so that they appear on the map without having to zoom in to 200 metres or less. The Voice Command finds it very difficult to figure out what I'm saying. The unit gets extremely hot during use on summer days. This does not seem to affect performance but it is literally too hot to handle. Overall, I do like the 3790LMT.

NUVI 3790LMT
Pros: 3-d terrain, vertical mode, bright screen. Cons: dangerous routing when in rural areas. no priory f
This is very good GPS. The screen is on of Garmin's best yet. Other plastic screens of the current models are dull and rather washed out. The glass screen of the 3700 series is vivid bright.
But Garmin has some very serious issues in their navigation once you leave the metro areas and head to the rural highways out west. While traveling through western Nebraska on a paved State Highway to a a major western city in Nebraska ( Scottsbluff) the Garmin repeatedly (many many times) routed us down dead end dirt roads. The Nuvi had avoidances enabled: dirt roads and u-turns were checked.
The Nuvi should have taken us 14 miles straight east, then 12 miles straight north, all on paved State Highways. But it turned us into every trail and dirt road we came to. Had we not known the route from repeated travels over the years, I shudder to think where we may have ended up in that desolate empty country.
In the city and around metro areas the 3790LMT is a very good and beautiful GPS. With a little help from GArmin's navigation department to weed out the errors one gets in the rural areas, this may well be the best Nuvi yet.
The 3-d terrain is very nice and the ability to use in a vertical position is handy especially while walking with the NUvi.

I bought this unit over a year ago with the guarantee from the retailer that you could download mapsource routes to the GPS. One year later I am still waiting for the capability. That aside, this is a great GPS. I really like to ability to speak to it instead of typing buttons. It would be so much better if it could locate POI's using the "near" function with voice commands.

I bought this in preparation for a trip to the UK but tested it out on a roadtrip through California. Emily was great. BEST GARMIN YET
Pros: i have several garmin gps models this is the best Cons: none
This unit is the best ever and speaks for itself. It’s a little expensive but well worth the price. It is the thinnest gps made and since I travel non-stop it's easy to pack. Get a case for it so it doesn't scratch up or the glass breaks because it is so thin it looks fragile. I have done trips to the East and West coasts and it boots fast and is extremely accurate. Positives are super fast calculation time, magnificent color, sound clarity. The speaker is the loudest one that I have owned. It operates as advertized. While you can spend less oney, this one is worth the price.

NUVI 3790 LMT
Pros: loud speaker, thin, great resolution display, quick Cons: nothing really big at the moment.
The unit speaks for itself. Yes I realize that it’s a bit pricey but I’m glad we spent the extra $$. It is the thinnest gps we’ve ever owned. Get a case for it if you don’t leave it in your car because it does look fragile. We’ve done a few small trips with it and so far all is great. Positives would be super fast calculation time, magnificent colours and clarity. The speaker is one of the loudest ones that we’ve owned. We run ours at 50% and it does the trick perfectly. Basically it does exactly what it says it’s supposed to do in style. Negatives would be voice command is specific to certain commands only. One thing it doesn’t have is the option to input the speed limit in Canada like the 2360LMT does (maybe some software update later on). For the price you would think that they would have put an MP3 player with and fm transmitter. No big deal though.

VERY GOOD GPS
Pros: see above Cons: see above
Garmin is always tops. There are features now on this unti that were on the Street Pilot. When you create a trip and force the unit to go through 3 ways points, for example, you have to basically navigate from point to point. So New York to Montreal with first waypoint on the taconic pkwy: the statistics show you have 40 minutes to "destination." That's of no interest, the destination is always Montreal. And when you arrive at the waypoint the trip is over. You have to reopen the trip, touch the next waypoint, and travel to that. In this respect, the engineers got it wrong. The unit itself, however, is slim, efficient and the graphics are probably the best out there today.

Pros: it is quick, small and has a great display! Cons: i'm sure it has some but i can't think of any.
I really like this unit. I liked it so much, I went out and bought one for a present. The display is crisp with a higher resolution than the thicker units. I love the thin size. The process appears to be faster providing quicker searches than some of the older units. The voice commands work fairly well in a quiet car. If there is a lot of background noise, forget about attempting voice commands. That is only common sense. I love the 3D effect in the larger cities. Who would have thought it would give you the city buildings. I haven't had a need to try the pedestrian mode. All in all, I really like the unit

I am still in the learning process so I can't say for sure but from what I have experience so far it seems to work just fine. I have used it on familiar routes to se how it would handle them and even took different roads from the ones suggested and it rapidly recalculated the trip adjusting to my idea of how to get there. I used this as a test to see how it would react. I found it very satisfactory. There is still a lot to learn but in time it will become more and more useful. I put in many hours of research before deciding to purchase this system. Even though I could have spent less money on another Garmin system, it only would have served in me purchasing another sustem a couple years down the line. This is an amazing system. The technology that is offered with this system is exemplary, and much of it yet to be innovated in other navigational systems. Rest assured this system is well worth the investment!

Pros: small, touchsreen is nice Cons: bad voice command, speaks street names wrong
I have had this new garmin for one month now and it has not been very accurate on getting me to specific places. One instance I knew there was a safeway grocery store 1/2 mile ahead on the left and the GPS directed me to turn a block away down residential streets and come around through neighborhoods when the store was just ahead on the left. It has done this numerous times for other locations i needed to find. My smartphone's GPS is much better and im relying on that mostly now. My Old Garmin Street Pilot III is much more reliable. I NEEDED THE BEST!
Pros: screen, free maps Cons: more expensive than most units (but well worth it)
This is my second automotive GPS unit.
Advantages of this unit: 1) Phenomenal screen that's easy to read & shows much more than even slightly smaller screens. 2) Lifetime free map updates means I'll have current data from Garmin. 3) Sized to slip in a shirt pocket when you leave the car. 4) Usable as a hand-held for around town use up to 3 hrs. Disadvantages of this unit: 1) Garmin did away with their side-unit volume control — & I miss it. 2) Bluetooth phone calls are a disappointment as the unit is too far from me for the microphone to work well. 3) Not practical for a hunting or fishing GPS as battery life is too short & features like "track-back" are absent.

BEST, HOWEVER EXPENSIVE
Pros: better resolution display, slim, voice command Cons: map update, expensive, lane assist feature
This is my second GPS unit. I had Navigon 7100 before and sold it since Navigon shut down their hardware division in North America.
The display is really vibrant and crisp. The map rendering is fast and the Bluetooth works perfect. I'm pretty much impressed with the voice command feature too. This GPS is almost good in every possible features you can think about. However, nothing is perfect and here are the areas on which Garmin needs to work on.
1) Lane Assist feature: I hardly saw the so called Garmin feature "Junction View" on the GPS. Garmin needs to update the junction view for all highway lanes. My old Navigon was really superb on this. I even saw a newer TomTom model implemented the feature in massive scale.
2) The unit comes with lifetime map update. However, I found various POIs that Garmin did not care to update even in their latest map update. Garmin should adopt a feature like TomTom where user can add POI and share it over the Internet with other millions of users.
3) Speed limit in Canada: As usual, the speed limit in Canada is always ignored by Garmin. Their reason is that lack of standardization on roads in Canada prohibited them to implemented the feature. However, I think they should give it a start since TomTom has started this feature for Canada already. TomTom is even providing customizable speed limit feature for missing data.
Overall, Garmin 3790LMT still rocks. One of the best feature of any Garmin unit over TomTom is the map rendering speed. TomTom is incredibly slow on map rendering.

Pros: love the new traffic arrows in the topleft corner!
Have always hoped Garmin would add a "pause" to the program. When we pull off the route for a burger or gas or anything the Garmin constantly wants to recalculate. A Pause button would allow us to pull of the route and continue when we are ready. Voice command system tends to come on periodically - when not prompted. Also voice command could never understand the street name - like ordering food at a to-go place! Loved the traffic lane arrows (new!!), loved the alternate route information, loved the choices of direction, time to arrive, etc... Great gadget to have on long trips.

ROUTES
Cons: route
This product does not let you where the next stop is on a route. I always have to go through the menu to find the next stop. When you add a stop to an existing route it does not optimize the route, it just adds it to the last stop. I had a Nuvi 7** and it worked just fine.

GARMIN NUVI 3790LMT
Pros: everything Cons: nothing
Just love this device. This is our second Garmin Nuvi and is so much better than our first. Have not used it on the road yet...winter time, you know. But we are looking forward to using it in the spring. We have uploaded photos, and set up the device, including voice command and bluetooth. Works Great! We also love the fact that we have lifetime updates, the screen is larger and the unit is thinner. Another plus, our charger from our previous unit works on this new one. So far, we are pleased that we went with the higher-end unit.

1ST GPS
Pros: screen resolution, speaker, navigation, portability Cons: ads otherwise none
Overall very happy but of course have nothing to judge this against as this my very 1st GPS purchase. I am a service technician and use it every day my service van has quite a bit of rattling noises so while driving voice activation does not work i guess i have to move some things around to quiet my van down also occasionally even when at a stand still it seems to freeze up and doesnt respond to voice command at all not sure why but then i get it working again by turning off and on software is off as far as addresses are concerned not very accurate will say house on right when actually its all the way down end of street and sometimes opposite of street guess i am expecting too much from it.Also traffic not effective sat in traffic for 1hour on my way to work never even changed from green on screen maybe its more effective in and around city areas. I also have to keep setting my phone to connect after hitting standby button does not always reconnect when entering the vehicle might be interferance from my mobile laptop. Overall extremely satisfied with the usefulness and cannot imagine being with out this now that i have had a gps.

GREAT MACHINE BUT A LITTLE LESS THAN I EXPECTED
Pros: everything except intering intersections Cons: almost impossible to put intersections in
All in all it is a really good GPS. Volume is good and speech recognition is much better than average. Brightness and resolution is also outstanding.

TOTALLY IMPRESSED
Pros: spectacular display, very thin. Cons: price
I have been using a Street Pilot for a number of years and was reluctant to change units. I wanted a less expensive replacement but the delivery kept getting pushed off. I decided to blow the bank roll and buy the best and frankly I am totally impressed. The unit is fast, calculations are very quick, recalculations come quickly and and off route excursions are detected quickly.
The voice function is better than the unit in my $60,000 SUV. No yelling instructions and method of selection is smart. The display is bright and easy to read in any light.
The only beef I have, and mind you it is a little beef, is the voice instructions come a little too late for me. I would like an instruction about a minute before one is required and then a reminder about 300 - 500 before a turn is required. That is the only problem I have with it, but this is probably because I am so used to the street pilot.

VERY GOOD GPS UNIT
Pros: worked good Cons: expensive
I bought this unit to use when traveling on vacation. We just returned from a trip to Mexico and the 3790 worked great. We would have been lost without. The Maps were accurate. The voice commands work pretty good. Overall it is a good unit but it expensive.

A RED LOBSTER IN YOUR FACE, VIA GARMIN? TRUE!
Pros: great screen, slim, fast. Cons: advertisements splash across your screen.
It is a great little GPS. The screen is beautiful, functionality is great. If you love advertisements being pushed in your face then this unit is definitely for you! When using the Navteq traffic feature not only does the feed for traffic status pipeline in, but also you get ads splashing on your screen. Red Lobster? Olive Garden? Garmin took a great little unit and sold out to the marketeers. The lifetime subscription to Navteq allows them to push the ads to you. Only if you turn off the traffic feed feature can you "kill" the ads. No more patronage to these advertisers from this GPS user!

NUVI 3790LMT
Pros: good user interface once you get used to it. Cons: external speaker output connection would be nice.
I'd heard a lot about the Garmin 3790. I needed a GPS and hands free bluetooth for my 2002 Pathfinder which I mostly drive in the winter. I have to admit that this is the first portable in car GPS that I have purchased.
I also have a 2009 Infiniti G37 which came with a factory GPS & bluetooth but I wish I could swap it for my new Garmin 3790 because it blows it out of the water!!! OK, the sound quality of my Infiniti in car bluetooth is far superior for obvious reasons but it ends there.
The 3790 immediately downloaded the contact list from my iPhone, something my in car system can't do. The red light camera and traffic warnings from the 3790 are very useful and quite accurate. The voice command system works very well as long as you turn the volume down on your audio system. Right now I'm only using my 3790 for my one hour work commute but I look forward to some trips in the summer to put it to the test.
So far I am very happy with my purchase.

GREAT BUT WITH SOME NUANCES
Pros: excellent screen clarity & volume Cons: pop-up ads, wrong speed limits
Very rapid satellite acquisition! Very nice screen & picture quality. Love the lane assist. Erroneous speed limits & "no-left turns". We pay this much for a GPS unit and get pop-up ads for Olive Garden & Best Western Hotels? Satellite accuracy in thE city is still terrible.

GARMIN 3790LMT THE BEST
Pros: perfect Cons: none
This Garmin GPS is all it is advertised to be. All functions work perfect. I have had several Garmins over the years. This is the best of the best. You can't go wrong with this one. I have read Cons about the high price. Buying at gpscity saved me $100.00. The 3790 was worth what I paid for it.

WELL WORTH THE MONEY.
Pros: none
I have always bought Garmin and have never been disappointed. Once again they have proven to be the best GPS provider. The Garmin Nuvi 3790LMT has it all free lifetime maps and traffic, the best screen I have ever seen on an automotive GPS, clear voice instructions with a speaker that has phenomenal sound for its size, hands free calling, touch screen, and is very simple to use. I could go on but don't want to bore you. What makes this device better is the price that gpscity had on this device. Looking online I have found other sites charging as much as $549. With the money saved by buying from gpscity I was able to get the car mount and carrying case way cheaper than any other site I found. So, if you want an automotive gps at a great price get a Garmin Nuvi 3790LMT. Yeah, some may say this unit is still expensive but charges will add up when you have to buy updated maps and get a subscription for traffic info. Not with this device, everything is included with the price and is easy to download when the need to update arrives.

EXPENSIVE, BUT WORKS LIKE A CHARM!
Pros: voice command. all the bells and whistles. Cons: expensive
This is quite an expensive little unit, but everything works as advertised. So long as you are in a traffic broadcast area, the traffic works fine. The voice command function is great for complete hands free use. It is very easy to program a new destination by favourite, address, or feature, all by voice only. Bluetooth also works great for my bluetooth phone. No complaints other than breaking the bank!
