HELLA GRIP
Pros: strong hold, adjustable, convient to use, Cons: none worth mentioning
I purchased the mounting cradle with power cord and installed it on my dual sport (KLR) motorcycle which I use for adventure riding. My latest ride(camping trip with full camping gear)included some very rough terrain on high country back roads. During a 25 mile an hour turn I ran across some loose gravel, lost traction and the bike went down (high sided). With exception of some sore ribs and cracked plastics, all turned out ok. Equipment stayed on the bike and the amazing thing was my Garmin 550 was still attached to the cradle and power cord, unharmed. Considering the forces involved in the crash and the fact the cradle held and did not brake or release the grip on the GPS is a winner in my book. Can't miss with this one.

PERFECT FOR MY MOTORCYCLE
What's not to like? As long as you remember to snap the latch closed on the top, I can't see how the GPS could possibly fall out. It's tight and secure.

WORKS FINE ON MY SLED
Pros: cost, easy of installation, power supply incl. Cons: none so far
This mount is working perfectly for me. Combined with a Ram mount base RAM-B-231U and a RAM-B-201U-A short arm the whole works mounts to handle bars and can be angled to be right in the middle of my vision when I look down. The mount holds my Nuvi 550 tight no matter what the trail is like. The only screw up was my own fault when I did not get the Nuvi into the mount before closing the hatch and then taking off. Lucky for my the Nuvi landed square in my lap and stayed there while I crossed a busy road. And I've got the 12 volt supply hooked up to my sleds battery. It's a great piece of kit for a decent price. Why buy anyting else?

GOOD MOUNTING AND POWER SYSTEM.
This a a good all in one solution to mounting and powerring a Nuvi 500 series. It's a high quality set and should hold up for a long time. The mount is designed to keep splashing water out of the usb plug area. we'll see.... but still better than another brand mount that has no splash guard. This is monuted in my Polaris RZR side by side. Haven't had a chance to use this mount on the trail yet, but if there's any adverse issues I'll report back. My only real concern is that the mounting system uses a fold over clamp to lock the GPS in the moun. It's not a very firm lock, and it seems it could come unlock with the bumps on the trail. Again, if it's a problom I'll report back.

MY 2 CENTS
Pros: solid mount Cons: no speaker hole - junk screws
First I think the mount works well for me. I have it mounted on my bmw k1200gt no problems with the mount yet. I did notice one thing, there is on hole for the speaker. so if you want to hear your gps you need to drill a hole in the mount for it. also the screws that are supplied are junk. save yourself the frustration and go buy some good stainless hardware to mount it

MIXED FEELINGS
Pluses - my GPS hasn't popped out yet. Judging from some of the user reviews of the alternative (RAMHOLGA32 and GUSB5VB), this 'may' still be the better choice.
Minuses - nuts and bolts are too thin and too long with small screw heads rather than bolt heads making them awkward to attach. One jammed when attaching it and had to be cut off. Clasp 'seems' cheap and subject to breakage. GPS (Nuvi 550) rattled around a bit in the cradle (while riding), so I added some electrician's tape to give it a bit tighter fit (which works well).
GPS City told me after I pointed out the problems that they do not recommend this cradle and offered to replace it with an alternative (see above) if I paid the shipping both ways.

BEST MOUNT FOR THE NUVI 550
Pros: well made, all-in-one package, very good cradle. Cons: the screws should have been stainless steel.
I recommend getting this mount instead of the RAM Branded one. After looking at the reviews and the videos of both units, I decided this was the better choice. Sure it costs a lot more than the RAM solution, but you get the OEM 5v cable, the Cradle, the RAM 1" ball, and mounting screws all in one neat little package. You still need to buy the arms to attach it to something, obviously.
The reasons why I think it's better:
1. You can attach the cable to the device BEFORE putting it into the cradle (the reviewers of the RAM Brand cradle all complain about not being able to do this)
2. There's a small hole at the front of the unit shaped like a mini-usb connector so you have a weatherproof place to park your cable when you take the device out.
3. It doesn't just cradle the outside of the device, it has little notches at the top and bottom that snap into holes in the device itself, making it extra secure. After watching the review video, I don't believe the RAM one has these.
4. You get an OEM 5 volt cable with an included in-line 1 amp mini-fuse. For the price however it would have been nice had it included some ring terminals or an SAE 2pin connector or something like that but luckily I already had some.
I've only taken it out for a couple of rides so far, but it seems to be working great. Can't say much about the quality of the plastic yet.

GARMIN NUVI5XX UNIVERSAL MOUNTING CRADLE
Pros: has a place to put usb cable when gps is not used Cons: can not lock with a key
Hardware looks like its made by RAM. installs very easy. I put it on my motorcycle and set up looks very good and works well. only con is you cannot lock ( with a key) the GPS in the cradle. So I just pull the NUVI off when leaving bike alone. It is secure but not theft proof.

GREAT MOUNT
Pros: holds the gps tight, looks great Cons: none
Garmin OEM products are the best. I plan on mounting this to my snowmobile with my Nuvi 550. You will need to also purchase an arm to hold the cradle....I prefer the plastic ones over the aluminum.
