QUICK FIX AT A LOW COST
My Nuvi stopped getting power and clearly was not the power cable. Took a chance and the replacement cradle was priced right and shipped quick. I started a new job an need my Garmin almost daily to find business locations.
Back in business in only a couple of days due to the quick ship and quality part. Order with confidence.

My Nuvi 765 stopped getting power when I had it plugged into my car outlet. A new cradle solved the problem. I rerouted the cable to take the pressure off the connection. Hopefully this one will last longer.

Power connector broke on my old Garmin cradle, and it wouldn't charge anymore. Got this replacement cradle and it works perfectly, and was a good price. Much better option than buying a new GPS. Just need to be careful not to stress the new connector.

JUST WHAT I NEEDED
The connector on my GPS mount had broken so that the GPS would not connect to a power source. I was unable to replace it at the local "Big Box" store. I found this site on the WEB and they had exactly what I needed at a fairly reasonable price.

Works as well as the original, and likely will have to be replaced like the original. When we move the GPS from one car to the other, we don't remove the power cable, and eventually it breaks the connector on this item.

The replacement cradle is a genuine Garmin cradle and therefore is a perfect fit. To keep the cradle from being accidentally yanked or detached from the connector (and needing a replacement cradle in the future), I have taped the cradle to the connector.

We got this part with our original purchase of a Nuvi 765T, but lots it during our trip to Australia. Of course we could not find a replacemnt there so had to spend $50 to get someting to hold our GPS unit. Once we got back I ordered this replacement part. Nothing beats the original and it was MUCH less that $50!! If you need this part, Get it and it will work as expected!

REINFORCE IT WITH A DAB OF GLUE
Pros: perfect replacement for oem.
Cons: weak support for power connector just like in oem.
I have read several posts about the original cradle breaking like mine did. The problem is that the connector for the power cable (NOT the connector to the NUVI) is not well supported inside the cradle. If you push the connector too hard or in the wrong way, the connector gets damaged beyond repair. What I did with my new one is to open it up, put some epoxy around the connector to hold it down firm, and replace the cover. Hopefully this will make it stronger.

MY NUVI 765T IS NEWVIE AGAIN
Pros: works like new again, got my music player back

I thought the cord on my 765T had failed. It would only work if you held it just right. Then all of a sudden the silver connector point came out attached to the end of the cord. Attempts to re-solder the part to the circuit board failed miserably. Ok,the best darn GPS ever made by Garmin was now junk. Or I would have to buy a used or refurbished to get an new cradle. Try E-Bay, sure found one for about 35 bucks, now add shipping to Canada and duty and that thing UPS calls "Brokerage Fee" and your looking at close to 60 bucks. Found GPS City in CANADA Reasonable price and minimal shiping. I was so happy I bought 2. Never know when this discontinued unit will not be supported. Shame on Garmin for creating such a weak link in another wise great unit. Cannot tell how many times the suction cup has let go and sent the entire receiver, cradle and all for a ride to a quick snap stop. Of course it would eventually break. Thank you GPS City for a no hassle deal with speedy delivery to Saskatoon

WORKS BETTER THAN ORIGINAL
Bought this to replace the original mount for my Nuvi 755, which had broken where the cable plugs into the side (the tiny wires broke inside the thin connector.
I find this replacement even easier to snap in and out than the original unit, my Nuvi just seems to slide right in, like a well worn glove just slips onto your hand.

SECURE THE POWER CORD
Pros: perfect replacement
Cons: poor connector design
The connector attachment to the circuit board inside this cradle is weak, so I used some electrical tape, one strip on each side of the power cord plug, and secured to cradle. Then I looped the power cable back to the post that the cradle attaches to, and taped the cord to the post to completely eliminate stress on the plug.

GREAT OPTION TO GARMIN PRODUCT!

Cons: none, once fitted to reduce power cord stress.
I had to do a little online research because the 'experts' at Garmin were either unknowledgeable or unwilling to diagnose my problem which was the Nuvi 765T not charging in the dock or providing power when plugged in to the cigarette lighter. Simply put the Cradle is designed to fail from stress placed on the innards from the hanging power cord. Replaced with this (much less expensive than buying from Garmin) part and instant fix, back in business! I looped the cord around the base and cabled-tied it to reduce the stress so with any luck it will last longer.

WILL REPLACEMENT CRADLE LAST MORE THAN 2 YEARS?
There is a design flaw inherent in most micro/mini usb type connections. The 'tang' or 'blade' inside the receptacle becomes loose after normal use,eventually rendering the device inoperable. Plug strain from the cord must be alleviated ay all times. If there was a better holder surrounding the recepatcle,this situation and replacement could be avoided. I have also encountered this plight with some cellphone usb connections.

NUVI CRADLE FIXED THE PROBLEM
Pros: original nuvi cradle, not a cheap imitation

Our Garmin Nuvi 765 started to intermittantly have power, then go on battery, going on and off all the time. I thought it was the cord, but new cords with traffic receiver were over a hundred bucks. The old cradle looked fine, but tech support suggested starting there rather than with the expensivo cord. We ordered from gpscity, got a great buy, it was here in two days and we unplugged the old cradle and put in the new. Hassle free ordering, fixed the problem, Jill (the name of our GPS) is feeling fine and we highly recommend gpscity.

I suppose you could say that this is a great product because it does everything that it claims to do and it does it well. The thing is that this is just a replacement for one that was broken from recular day-to-day usage.
I am not unhappy with this item in fact I am very happy because I can use my GPS again. However, I would have preferred not to have to spend the money on something that (in my opinion) should be more robust in the first place.
If this component does die on you I would suggest buying this item.

Thanks for the quick and speedy delivery of the product. Your replacement works great. This is my second replacement. The last one came from Garmin which was still under warranty. I believe the design for the cable entry on side of cradle is flawed. Needs to be more robust if you move it around too much you lose pin connection and 12 volt power input. I'm going to try to tyrap cable to base to see if this reduces cable movement and the need to buy another cradle. Thanks again for your help. GPSCITY.COM was great to deal with no problems.

THE FLAW IS IN THE DESIGN
Pros: second site on cradle for power connection
Cons: normal power connection will break.
This is the third cradle for my Nuvi 765T and it's not that old. The side mount for the power cable stops receiving power due to some kind of defect or micro-breakage, but the unit stops receiving power and the battery eventually runs out. If the unit stops receiving power, you'll know from the battery symbol showing up on your unit.
I believe that the side mount of the power cable creates too much torque on the mount receptacle and it eventually breaks the small electrical connections inside.
There is a second option for power connection on the bottom of the cradle, used for connecting the unit by USB cable for computer uploads. If you have a car power adapter for USB, you can substitute this power connection for the standard car power cord. I won't be buying another one of these I'll just use the USB power cable.

The one that came with our GPS died after less than 2 years worth of use. Where the cable connects into the side of this part broke connections and came out. We have even been very careful with how the cord is laid and moved when we used it.
I doubt this new one will last much longer... it's just poorly designed. Garmin needs to come out with something better for older models.

NUVI MOUNT FIXED MY PROBLEM

I had purchased a nuvi 755t on ebay, and the mount did not work (as the listing noted). I opened it and saw that I would not be able to repair it, so did a quick 'net search and bought this from gpscity. Problem solved. 755t now charges, runs off of 12v auto power, and the FM traffic receiver works. Good pricing and quick economical shipping make gpscity a go-to source.

NEW CRADLE SAVED MY GPS
When my Garmin Nuvi 765 stopped charging, it was tough to know if the charger cable, the cradle or the GPS itself was to blame. I took a chance ordering a replacement cradle and, luckily, it was exactly what I needed. The cradle works perfectly and now my GPS is back up and running.

This cradle was poorly designed. The weight of the power cord causes the plug to eventually fail. You can avoid the problem by creating a loop in the power cord and hanging it around the mount.It doesn't look good but it works.

This cradle works verry well (identical as the old one) but the connector on the side is not strong enough, it breaks easily. It is a recurent problem with this model of cradle, but we have no choice to use it with the GPS mount! I highly recommend gpscity.

Identical to original. Originally believed garmin ceased functioning due to blown fuse. Replaced fuse in power cord and still no Garmin. Replaced cradle and Garmin functioning. BUY EXTRA CRADLES because Garmin 700 series functions best with cradle. The soldering where power cord plugs into cradle can break and render cradle worthless. A cig lighter to USB charger will bypass cradle, but also defeat traffic updates, etc., on Garmin.

The cradle is necessary to use your Nuvi 700 series on a mount, but the plug breaks internally all too easily. Fortunately the replacement isn't as expensive as a new GPS, but it could have been designed better.
If you're very good at soldering surface mount components, you probably could get in there and fix it. But it wasn't worth the effort for me to try.
Ordering was super simple and the replacement came very quickly - faster than I expected. I highly recommend them and will be using them in the future.

New part arrived quickly, but billing lagged by almost two weeks, and did cause me some problems with my bank account. The Garmin GPS units are wonderful, accurate and effective, but the design of this cradle is week, having the port on the side causes undo stress on the cradle's connection port, this is what had failed and turns out this is a common problem. I have addressed this by making sure the cable is wrapped around the mount one time to take the strain off of the port. Otherwise excellent unit and the replacement part is working well.

it's the exact item as from Garmin - bought because my original gave out at the power supply socket, due to internal (invisible) cracks. New one I received is factory exact part, has the same socket weakness. When I got this one I opened it up and reinforced the socket with some solder, took 10 minutes. Search Google for pictures/instructions. Other than that works great, recommended

The replacement cradle performs as the original did by providing power to the Nuvi and allowing the FM receiver to function. The FM receiver/power cord also increases the loudness of the spoken directions, a function provided through the cradle and this power terminal.

I am using this GPS on my motorcycle with a Ram Mount. Everything is great but this piece is the weak point. In pulling the wire out of the carriage frequently, it breaks the solder joints to the circuit board inside this piece. This is my 3rd one in just over a year. Thanks to GPS City for selling this piece alone instead of with the suckmount at a higher price.

Once again gpscity provided me with the best buy and auction site willingly reimbursed me for the gpscity cost of the cradle.

GARMIN NUVI 700 SERIES CRADLE REPLACEMENT
Pros: unit articulates well and easy to mount.
Cons: cable port fails
I needed to get this unit because the last one failed, and as I have heard they all fail in the same way. The port for the power cable (some crazy proprietary cable not just USB) brakes right out of the unit after mild use. The unit needs to be built better or just make the power of the GPS a standard USB not on the cradle.
Recommend? NO OPINION

Pros: oem -the real deal..works great
Cons: weakest part of the gps'sdesign
Got tired of the no power message on my nuviwhile driving and trying to either get power or touch the screen to keep the GPS running. This cradle did the trick. It is the real deal. Unfortunately the design of this part seems to be the weakest link in the overall design..but now that we are up nd running again I will soon forget about that.

Best price I was able to find this mount. My original equipment became damaged and I had to search the web for a replacement. GPScity had the best price hands down. The replacement part is the same as the original when it came out of the box.

Original cradle lasted about 2 months of infrequent use before cable pulled connector loose inside bracket this one will probably do the same. We wrap the power cord around the "sandbag" base now as a type of strain relief - hope it helps! Ridiculous that this part will have to be treated as a consumable.
Shipping was quick (we were leaving for vacation). No complaints.

Exact spare from my Garmin Nuvi 750. I don't have to pop off the one I have on my GPS bean bag. I just remove the GPS leaving the Cradle on the bean bag. Then I use this spare cradle for my RAM mount on my motorcycle.

Only cradle was broken in my Garmin mount for Nuvi, and I did not want to buy the whole product. It was very nice to find an online store where I can buy a product for a replacement.

BEST MOUNT IS FACTORY MADE
I had all my nuvi equipment, except the nuvi itself, stolen.
I tried other mounts and they were awful. There's nothing like using the original factory equipment.

Due to the fact that Garmin no longer makes the Nuvi 770. I thought it best to get a couple Cradles before they are no longer available.The Nuvi is useless for trips if this part breaks. Forward thinking to advoid a problem.
