| Description |
Sleek and wide, nuvi 750 leads the way with advanced navigation features, a colorful widescreen display, preloaded maps, an FM transmitter, a travel kit and more. Like the rest of the wide nuvi 700-series, its premium navigation capabilities, like route planning and a handy locator, give you peace of mind on the go.
With nuvi 750's widescreen display, you'll always get the big picture. View map detail, driving directions, photos and more in bright, brilliant color. Its sunlight-readable, 4.3-inch display is easy to read from any direction.
Navigate With Ease
nuvi 750 comes ready to go right out of the box with preloaded City Navigator NT street maps and millions of points of interest (POIs) such as hotels, restaurants, fuel stations, ATMs and more. Simply touch the color screen to enter a destination, and nuvi takes you there with 2D or 3D maps and turn-by-turn voice directions. It even announces the name of exits and streets so you never have to take your eyes off the road. In addition, nuvi 750 accepts custom points of interest, such as school zones and safety cameras and lets you set proximity alerts to warn you of upcoming POIs. The European version even includes a preloaded safety camera database containing locations of cameras for parts of Europe.
Where Am I?
Keep track of yourself and your car with nuvi 750. Just tap "Where Am I?" to find the closest hospitals, police stations, fuel stations, nearest address and intersection. Also see your exact latitude and longitude coordinates. nuvi 750 even remembers where you parked. It automatically marks your position when you remove it from the windshield mount, so you can navigate with nuvi on foot and find your way back to your vehicle. Perfect for unfamiliar spots and crowded lots such as amusement parks, stadiums and malls.
Plan Ahead
nuvi 750 includes advanced navigational features to take the worry out of traveling. With route planning you can save 10 routes, specify via points and preview simulated turns on the 750's wide screen. In addition, nuvi 750 automatically sorts multiple destinations to provide an efficient route for errands, deliveries or sales calls. It also displays speed limits for highways and Interstates. A trip log provides an electronic bread crumb trail of up to 10,000 points, so you can see where you've been on the map.
Take It With You
nuvi 750's high-sensitivity internal (non flip-up) antenna gives it a sleeker, thinner design than the nuvi 600-series, making it easy to slip in your pocket or purse. Its rechargeable lithium-ion battery makes it convenient for navigation by car or on foot.
Go Beyond Navigation
Navigation is just the beginning. nuvi 750 includes many "must have" entertainment and travel tools including MP3 player, audio book player (subscription to Audible.com required), JPEG picture viewer, currency converters and more. With nuvi 750's wireless FM transmitter* you can hear audio, including voice prompts, MP3s and audio books, through your vehicle's stereo. It also comes with optional FM traffic alerts, optional MSN Direct, Garmin Lock (an anti-theft feature) and configurable vehicle icons that let you select car-shaped graphics to show your location on the map. Optional software on plug-and-play SD cards for language translation, detailed travel guide and savings program allow you to customize nuvi for your travel needs.

NOT A SIRF GPS UNIT
Got mine used for only 2 days and I returned it because signal acquisition took 5 to 10 minutes. I've checked garmin website after it hits the market and noticed that SiRF on the unit's feature page on their website was already deleted. Meaning this unit and the rest of the 700 series dont have the now standard SiRF chips. Garmin is cheating on this one. That is why there are so many users complaining about how slow this new models pick-up the signals. So those who are planning to buy their new GPS unit, don't buy the 700 series go get the 600 series instead.

VERY GOOD GPS
Bought this new yesterday and when turn on the first time it acquired satellite signal instantly within 30 seconds and less than that thereafter. I've updated mine with version 2.20 rightaway and downloaded some vehicles icon from garmin website. I've installed also some customized POI from POI factory and the unit seems running flawlessly without any issues. I've owned a 360 before and the new features on this new model are not a big jump for me as far as exploring the menus. And I also still have my mobile 10 XT and the added route is not a big upgrade for me as well. But definitely the 750 is better than my old 360 except it does not have the bluetooth feature. But the 750 has an FM transmitter though. My only complain about this unit, garmin should have included an AC adapter and a protective case in the package. If this accessories was included, I should have given it a "5" rating.

SIRF CHIP
The previous writer is correct, I called Garmin today who told me the 700 series has either the SiRF chip or their "own" chip which meets the same specs. There is no way of knowing which chip is in the unit prior to puchase.

EXCELLENT GPS
I did a lot of research before deciding to buy the Nuvi 750 as I wanted a GPS that could store routes, announce street names, has a wide screen and quickly acquires satellites. I was already favouring Garmin since I have a Garmin Map76 GPS for four years and it has been an excellent GPS. The Nuvi 750 had what I wanted and so I checked all the reviews I could find and generally speaking the most common complaint was it's slowness at times to acquire satellites. However, there was quite a few reviews that stated that they had no problem getting the satellites. So, I decided to give Garmin the benefit of the doubt and went ahead and purchased one through GPS City because of the great price and a reference from a friend of mine on how good the service was from GPS City.
The service from GPS City was excellent and the GPS arrived in a very timely manner. Right out of the box and onto the dash of my vehicle it went and I had satellites and was ready to navigate in approximately 2 minutes. Since then it has always found the satellites very quickly and is ready to go before I'm out of my driveway.
I recently went on a 1280 kilometre trip and it worked flawlessly. Some new roads were not on the base map but there will always be some of that.
I am very happy with the Nuvi 750 and would recommend it highly.
Pros: quick satellite acquistion Cons: garmin should include ac charger in box. Recommend: YES

IT COULD HAVE BEEN A CONTENDER....
I got the itch to purchase a new GPS after my 5 year old Garmin GPS V started to show its age. Because of the excellent service I received from it, I decided that the Garmin brand was the only manufacturer I’d look at. I had some definite “must haves” with the new unit. I wanted a large display for my tired eyes. I wanted the ability to store “waypoints” or as they are otherwise known from here on, via points. I absolutely had to have the ability to create “Routes”. Routes allow you to connect a number of via points to form an intelligent path from point A to point B. Autorouting is fine if you’re going to an unknown destination, but if you take a frequent path, it’s nice to know how far you from an exit, a favorite rest stop, a busy bridge, a town center. If you place a via point at these locations, you can then connected the dots so to speak, creating a route that when loaded will give you mileage to each point as well as ETA to your destination. Based on my criteria, the Garmin nuvi 700 series units would do “Via Points” and Routes”. After vacillating over whether or not to get the Bluetooth hands-free phone option , I decided the option was way over-priced and went with the nuvi 750. Now I have to admit that I’m a tinkerer. I like to play with things and discover how best to use them. I find out how to use all of the options and settings and use them to make my driving fun as well as efficient. So I was a bit disappointed when I turned on the 750 and started to browse the menu options. I’m going to summarize below what I found in the 2 weeks that I’ve owned it. What it does: -It will Autoroute, sometimes not very well. -It speaks clearly so you don’t have to look at the display for instructions. It will speak them over your radio, provided you have the radio tuned to a vacant frequency. Why I would want to listen to dead air followed by occasional instructions, I don’t know…but it does it. -It will give you a large, bright, display that will display daytime and nighttime map modes This feature is really nice, and it will switch automatically from one to another. How it does it, I don’t know. Maybe it determines sunrise and sunset times, or perhaps it has a photocell somewhere. -It has a great touchscreen that never fails to respond, and you can move the map around by dragging your finger across the screen to pull another section of map into view. Now….what it won’t do: -It will not boot up quickly from a cold start. What I mean is, if you take the unit from its cradle, turn it off and place it in your pocket, when you go to start it several hours later it could take 5 to 10 minutes for it to start providing navigational data. But, if the unit is turned off, and remains in the cradle, when you turn it back on (a warm start) it will immediately fire up. With these things being snatched out of cars, I take mine with me whenever I leave my vehicle. -I will not give you altitude. What were they thinking! It’s being received, so why not display it! -It will only provide location coordinates in Latitude and Longitude. So if you’re a ham radio operator and use the Maidenhead Grid coordinates…..forget it. -Again, for ham radio operators, you cannot output a data stream to send to a TNC for APRS operation. This also means that you cannot hook a laptop to the 750 and use the data stream to drive another mapping program. -There is only a crude compass available and that can only be seen when running in the “Offroad” mode. This mode is use when routing from Via point to Via point. I discovered that Autorouting a “Route” can turn a 35 mile drive into a 130 mile, 2.5 hour trip. DO NOT autoroute a route. Set it to “Offroad”. There are no provisions for a decent compass rose, but merely 8 points. -There are no drift alarms, so if you use it on a boat, you can’t set an anchor drag warning. -The navigational data display cannot be customized. It displays a given set of driving parameters, like moving average, maximum speed, trip mileage, etc. to small boxes, and these cannot be replaced or moved around. -I have not found a provision to create via points or routes on PC mapping program and then download them to the 750. Despite the QWERTY keyboard, it’s a long arduous process dropping via points and then hooking them together to form a Route. I could go on and on with comparing what my 5 year old GPS V can do to what my state of the art nuvi 750 cannot do. Garmin could have had a real winner in the 700 series nuvis. But it is clear to me that they chose to reduce them to an appliance produced for the masses. They “dumbed it down”, made them simple to operate and in the process, eliminated many interesting and useful options and features. So to summarize, I’m exceedingly disappointed in the nuvi 750. It could have been a real winner.
