FIRST GPS, NUVI 770
This is my first GPS and I wanted a model that comes with both maps of North America AND Europe. I used it on a couple of trips here in Canada and it's an amazing apparatus.
I bought the lifetime maps update from Garmin and also did an update for the program.
We are leaving this coming June for France and I have already entered some destinations that we will visit. Thus when arriving at the airport, I will have my first destination already entered.
This GPS repeats often the instructions, so you really have to be absent-minded to miss an exit. It even tells you to keep on the right or left lane so you will not to be caught in an exit that you do not want.
I'm really very satisfied till now. I will come back after our trip in France to say how we made out. Particularly the locking in a satellite in Europe, which I read comments that it can take up to 30 minutes. I'll see how it does.
I must add that I have appreciated very much doing business with "GPSCITY.ca". My GPS was back- order and I called a few times to enquire about the delivery date. I was always answered very patiently and courteously. When I ordered, the price was lower and they kept my ordering price the same. Thank you!

GARMIN NUVI 770
Pros: better than relying on a bag of maps only. Cons: maps need updating, and poor search parameters
My first use of this product is in the state of Hawaii on the Island of Hawaii. I have never used it on the North American mainland.
I find it somewhat disappointing as it gets me where I'm going, but needs exact co-ordinating. Helpful if you know the exact address of your destination but if you are depending on city name or street name it will not find it. Examples: Trying to find Liliokalani gardens park in Hilo Hawaii and I typed in Liliokalani park. Garmin didn't find it.
The Maps of Hawaii seem outdated. It thinks the best way from Kailua Kona to Hilo is over a highway that is not suitable for anything but a 4WD. Tourist information map shows that this road is not to be used.
Did not show a "Costco" location in Kaluia- Kona, using the "shopping" feature, but refers to one 122KM away.
Does not find Highways by route number. Example will find Island belt Highway but not Highway 19.
Once a destination has been reached it does save it and store, so that's no problem.
It could improve by having a search engine that gives everything for a word. Example: "Liliokalani" - every destination that has this word in it should be displayed.
In it's defence, I must admit the user was not very "gps" or computer literate, but so far it is nothing but average for navigating through places I have never been.
I would recommend it, with limitations to others, assuming as I become more familiar with the product, it will get easier to use.
To date it is just average.

EXCELLENT GADGET, GPSCITY GAVE EXCELLENT SERVICE
Pros: intuitive interface, very easy to use. Cons: mp3 playlist feature is a disaster.
I ordered a Nuvi 770 with GPScity on Dec 15, and they shipped it on the very next day. Efficient and excellent Service ! I am planning a ski trip to Chamonix, France in late January, 2009. Definitely I need help in directions of getting around these areas. I have not yet put it on the real test, just those setup pages, pre- inserting "routes" and "favorite way points", gives me full confidence and peace of mind. Nuvi 770 is absolutely not flawless, MP3 is the part I hate the most. I copied MP3 files (with songs categorized in different folders) to the gadget. It however, does not support "folder". All files appear under the "root" directory, though you can find particular file using, ARTIST, ALBUM...I thought to myself "Playlist" should help. After using this, I almost wanted to smash it. You can always create a NEW playlist, but you can never DELETE it nor change the name of playlist! If I am not stupid, those Garmin guys are! After all, this is a GPS, MP3, Bluetooth handfree... are merely "Add-on" value. If you are not too picky, I still would say, Don't leave home without it.

This is our first-ever GPS. We have found the Garmin Nuvi 770 very user friendly and an amazing technology. We took it on a recent trip to Myrtle Beach, S.C., and thoroughly enjoyed its many benefits both going to and returning from, and touring around the Myrtle Beach area. We are planning a trip to the UK in the new year, and look forward to using the 770's European-embedded maps.

GARMIN NUVI 770
I bought this GPS to use in Italy for a vacation. It paid for itself by leading me from my rental car pickup at the Termini train station in Rome to La Spezia with no wrong turns, no wrong ways and a beautiful countryside route (I had autorouted to avoid Autostradas). I then spent 10 days wandering central Italy, and although it did some strange autorouting at times it would always get me to my destination. Literal translation of the Italian street names was entertaining, but what can I expect if I use English as the GPS language? The FM transmitter was useless as there is always a radio station which will "cross talk" with the GPS. Route planning was a strong point for me since I was usually trying to hit more then one site in one day. I also got a "free" upgrade to the 2009 Europe map from Garmin.

GOOD PRODUCT
Right out of the box this product worked well. As with most GPS units, it often takes you on the most direct route through town which is not always the shortest but looks short on the map. It has so many features for the price, I still haven't used all of them 3 months after buying. At the GPS City price, it is well worth it.

PURCHASE WITH CONFIDENCE.
I purchased two and would not hesitate to purchase another if I had a third vehicle.
The unit does everything it claims to be able to do. I especially like the fact that it names the street as one approaches so that there is no doubt if perchance there is a fork in the road.
If there is one small drawback, that would be the mispronunciation of names of streets or roads where French is involved.
For instance, Chemin Hacket is one near here and as is common for Quebec, of course "no" English is permitted.
*roll-eyes*
The voice indicating the road in this case pronounces it "Kemin" Hacket. Same thing applies for all other streets or avenues.
Mind you I did have a good hearty laugh first time I heard it.
Great service from GPS City, don't hesitate to buy this considering it retails for up to $1099.00 most everywhere else.

The unit is everything I expected. It is easy to mount on the dash and to date has proven easy to use and accurate - apart from missing a couple of new roads.

GARMIN NUVI 770
I am a courtesy driver for BMW and this job takes me to all quadrants of Calgary, a city of 1,000,000 plus, people. The garmin has performed extremely well and I love the peace of mind it gives me knowing that I can find any address and my may home again at the touch of a button. I purchased the Garmin 770 for not only local use but also for travel in Europe and the USA. It is also extremely convenient with its blue tooth capabilities. After comparing it to one of your competitor's products owned by a friend of mine I am very glad that I chose Garmin.

EXCELENT PRODUCT, JUST AS DESCRIBED.
I replaced my 530 with a 770 because i am planing a trip to Europe. i loved my 530 but the Nuvi 770 is even better with a lot more options. I hesitated buying the 770 because of some bad reviews stating that satellite acquisition was very slow.I am happy to say that my experience was very good....satellite acquisition time is excellent. I downloaded the free software update from 3.2 to 4.2. I also ordered the free 2009 map update DVD and i received it in less than 2 weeks....excellent support from Garmin.

NUVI 770
Delivery to Ontario was under a week. Very impressive. I have owned many Garmins and have never been disappointed. It is easy to use. For the price, Garmin should include a 120V wall charger and a carrying case like they do with the Nuvi 350. It is suppose to be a higher end unit and comes with less than the lower end ones. Outside of that, Fantastic GPS!

NUVI 770
Works great but..... can't get some places without an actual street address including the numbers of the street. The voice directions are somewhat confusing because she doesn't pronounce the streets the way they should be (I'm in Germany). It would be much more helpful if they were pronounced in German, not a literal translation....very confusing. In addition I was not told, & neither did the salesperson mention, the fact that this item was not coming with a charger to use in a house It did come with the car charger.

NOT BAD FOR THE MONEY
The unit comes with both Europe and North America maps which, for the price I paid, is fantastic. Several concerns is firmware and chipset. The unit I received comes with the cheaper MediaTek chipset. I heard Sirf chipsets were all the rage. Certainly, the Mediatek didn't seem to be very accurate when using the Where Am I function. Second is the firmware. When you register your unit, it will update your unit with the latest firmware. Firmware 4.1 was absolutely horrible and you can google this. Firmware 4.2 fixed most issues but still has annoying bugs. Sadly, you won't get your Europe 2009 update without registering. Overall, I'm pleased with the product. It gets me from point A to point B. Firmware 4.1 caused me a lot of grief but all is good now.

GARMIN NUVI 770
Excellent Service by GPS City. I purchased the 770 as it was supposed to be one of the high end models. This device has a few glitches. 1st one is acquiring the satellites. My Garmin C530 was much faster when acquiring satellites. Most of the voices have problems stating the most common phrases like "Street", it cannot say Street, if the street name is abbreviated to st., it pronounces it "Saint" instead of "Street". So instead of Dundas Street it ends up Dundas Saint. These are the most annoying of the bugs. Otherwise, quite a decent GPS.

LOVE OUR NEW NUVI!
We have been using laptop based route planning and GPS for the last 3 years and finally decided that the price point warranted a switch to a portable navigation system. Features that attracted us to the 770 were the European maps, FM transmitter, Photo viewer and MP3 player. The system worked very well for us on our first trip to Edmonton for a wedding in October. Our main disappointment would be that the voice prompts are sometimes slow, although we have found that the generic North American English seems more prompt than the more pleasant sounding Karen - Australian English. We just learned that is is possible to download addresses found in Google Maps to the 770 as a "Favorite" locations. Our other disappointment is that the Nuvi 770 does not come with software to allow planning our route on our laptop that can then be downloaded to the 770. However, this is balanced off by the ease of finding destinations "on the go" while driving.
We are very pleased with the service from GPS City. Our Nuvi arrived next day. We have purchased 2 Garmin Forerunners from GPS City and always recommend them to our friends.

SOFWARE GLITCH AS DELIVERED?
GPSCity shipped promptly, and was quite courteous. But I have concernes about the 770 itself. The audio directions had glitches- it was as if a speaker connection was loose. I learned a friend had the same issue. He returned his, but I tried updating the maps and software and for a week, it's been okay. But disturbing that Garmin shipped them like that, with such an issue.

I placed my order on a Monday and I received my GPS by Friday. Alberta to Ontario in a week. (Pretty darn good if you ask me) I made the upgrade from a nuvi 350 because I was looking for an fm transmitter and bluetooth was just a bonus. I have used it now for few days and I am very pleased with all the newer features it has to offer. Although it's to early to tell, I'm sure based on the quality of Garmin I will be pleased. The quality of picture is fantastic. It's to bad it didn't come with a carrying case or a power hook for the house though. All in all I would recommend this product. You can't go wrong with the price. What are you waiting for buy it now before it's too late.

ANOTHER GREAT NUVI
I have the good fortune of having 5 children, all of which have beencoming into driving over the last few years. So I have pruchased a new GPS for me and handed down the older one to the kids. I have owned a lot of GPS's. About 18 including the ones for my boats. The Nuvi is by far the best drving GPS out there. I got the 770 for a trip we are doing to the UK, or a lessor 700 series would have been fine. The Nuvi's keep getting better. I did not particularly like the 2xx series. The screen quaility of the 7xx is great!!! The only down side is that the GPS satellite info bar is no longer avaialble on the new models. Too bad, that feature and the compass pointer lost when the 6xx series came out were both very nice. Other than that, the Nuvi's are the best in class.

Ordered on a Monday evening, and it arrived the next morning before 10 - absolutely amazing. The 770 is a great GPS, and I'm looking forward to using the European maps on an upcoming trip. Only disappointment is the absence of a carrying case in the box and the 770 does not function as a GPS when charging from a USB port. Other that that I highly recommend this unit. Fast satellite acquisition and so far up to date maps are important features of the Garmin Nuvi 770.
