No address tab

Original Post
A friend let me borrow his Nuvi 885 to see if I like it enough to buy one.
I have been using Streets and Trips for years and need trip planning software. I have downloaded MapSource. I would like to enter addresses but the find feature does not have a "Address" tab.

Hello Don,
We hope your day is going well. The option you are looking for in Mapsource is called "Find" and is represented by binoculars on the menu bar. If you go into this menu you will be able to search by address via the address tab. You will also need City Navigator North America NT installed first to find address's in Mapsource on the PC.

Cheers

If I understand correctly I have to buy City Navigator North America NT for $99.99 in order to do trip planning using street addresses! I don't see how anyone can plan a trip and not use street addresses. Who would plan a trip starting at a "Place" and ending at a "Place" with stops at 30 or so "Places" along the way?
I think I will stick to Streets and Trips.

Hello Don
If you want to be able to do trip planning with mapsource you will need to buy City Navigator. You can always use the unit to plan trips. It supports multi point routing. This allows you to place multiple destinations have the unit guide you through them. Just pick a destination and keep adding more points as "via points".

You can now use Google earth to send points and routes to your Garmin GPS so you can plan it out there first. The you can send the gps data to the Garmin Nuvi 885. Here is a link to a tutorial on how to use the Google Earth program to send waypoints to your GPS.

Thanks Jesse,
I am now becoming more encouraged. Although Google Maps are not as user friendly they do accomplish what I need.
So, to simplify things for this almost senile old man, the only expense I will have is the purchase price of the 885. Then before I use it I have to connect it to my computer, register it and download MapSource, which is free, then start planning with Google Maps.
Sounds simple and not too costly. Anything else I need to know?
Thanks, Don

I wish this forum allowed editing by the original poster.
In my post I should have said "Google Maps are not as user friendly" as Streets and Trips

I did a Google search for "Download Streets $ Trips to Garmin" and lo and behind I found out Streets & Trips 2010 includes being able to download complete routes to Garmin. I am in hog heaven, the Gods have never been so kind to me.
My birthday in December will get me S & T 2010 and Christmas will get me a Nuvi 885, how can I be so lucky?
