MULTIPOINT ROUTE GPS BUT HAS ITS DRAWBACKS.
Great unit, all the feature's are what I just wanted, Shame the instructions weren't written with more understanding. Spent quite some time googling how to's. Finally had issues and contacted Garmin via email. They're were stumped and finally linked to me with a control assist. Took better part of an hour to solve the issues. Now whenever I upload routes or music, or anything I have to uninstall the battery to reboot, to make it active Bit annoying but it works. Also disappointed that its also not supported for MSN Direct in 2012. Seems like nulink will replace that but wasn't aware of that till after the purchase. So live with or without features in 2 more years.
Pros: great feature's Cons: poor intstructions with manual Recommend: NO

POOR AUTOMOTIVE GPS
Froze several times a day on a long trip even after installing all updates. Voice recognition works well ofnly if there is no road noise, ie the car is not moving, making this feature not very useful. MSN Direct Traffic are phasing out their service so a model that includes FM Traffic would be a better choice. Sometimes does not turn on automatically when powered up from the car or reboots and voice changes.
Pros: great screen also has many usful features Cons: freezes, msn direct traffic being discontued Recommend: NO

THE 885T
So far has been a very good buy. The FM trans. works great and hands free phone use makes this a very useful product. Volume could be a little better its a bit on the low side. Maps seem to be right on and finding ones way is no problem.
Pros: good maps and hands free phone Cons: volume low Recommend: YES

A GOOD GPS
This is a good unit, and will do the job for almost anyone. The speech recognition is cool, but doesn't work as well as they would have you believe. It's kind of fun to see what it comes up with. Garmin's software is spotty if you're a Mac user, but eventually can be made to work. And Garmin offers a "free update" of map software, but really they include last year's maps, and "upgrade" you to this year's. Little touches like that erode Garmin's rep. But still, it's a good unit that does the job, and is very easy to see.
Pros: solid gps unit Cons: speech recognition and mac compatibility are fair Recommend: YES

BEST AUTOMOTIVE GPS
Voice recognition is superb. With the windows down & in heavy traffic, I had no problem with this feature. With the Hands Free feature, I could just say the phone number & it would dial for me. I love this GPS.
Pros: voice recognition Cons: very minor Recommend: YES

EXCELLENT AUTOMOBILE GPS
1) I would love to know when the streets in my area (Vancouver, B.C.) are updated: I don't want to buy a North Amerca update which deals with changes in towns where I will never drive. 2) I coudn't find any way of using a route in reverse. 3) I would like the GPS to be able to record a route and keep it in its memory (with a name) for future trips. 4) I would like to plan a route on my PC and load it in the GPS. 5) my unit has frozen up, in rare occasions maybe it got too hot in the sun (a good reason for freezing). I just had to turn it off for a while, and back on. 5) The system, on several occasions, told me it didn't know a street in a given city, yets the map, with proper zoom, displayed the street. and I was able to plan a route to it.
Pros: accurate, easy and fun to use Cons: software could be improved e.g. handling of routes Recommend: YES

DECENT GPS BUT FEELS CHEAP FOR A GARMIN DEVICE.
I'm a bit disappointed by this Garmin GPS. This is my fourth Garmin GPS but so far, its the one that feels the cheapest. I don't like the touch screen much compared to other models (I still have and use a Zumo and before that had a 2610). Input processing seems almost defective. You press a button, hear a beep, then nothing happens. Press again and this time it works. Or you press, hear a beep, nothing happen, press again and oops! This time it just took a while before your first input was processed and you happened to click twice (i.e. accepted first click then you just blindly clicked something else on the next page...). During text input, always beeps on each touch, but some letters just get dropped... The voice input works great in low-noise environment (or maybe with a mic but I did not try). If you have the A/C on or some other background noise, you'll end up using your fingers for sure. The MSN Direct receiver is nice in the US (tried it on a California/Southwest trip) but not as useful in my area (Montreal). Another weird thing is that if you want to use the audio output (AUX OUT), you have to plug the cable BEFORE you turn the device on, otherwise it will only output to the internal speakers. You have to turn it off to get it to output on AUX OUT. Finally, the battery drains quickly compared to my Zumo. Looks like the GPS is never really off but instead goes into sleep mode. Nice for quick startups, but seems to drain the battery more quickly. All that said, I would give it a 3.5 rating but decided to truncate to 3. Its a decent GPS but feels under- par compared to what I am used from Garmin. However, IMHO, even with these quirks its still better and a lot of other GPS devices out there.

GARMIN 855T GPS
A feature rich device with much to offer. Excellent Screen display. Excellent for those traveling in built up areas and cities where the "lane assist" feature proves to be quite valuable. This device has a tendancy to overheat, then freeze, it happened at least three times in the first week of operation. You must remove the battery to reset the device. Can be frustrating. MSN option a good feature only if you are in a built up area where coverage is adequate, otherwise save your money. Voice commands effective if you don't have a lot of road noise. Bluetooth capable and works well in a relatively quiet environment.
Pros: good display, feature rich Cons: has a tendancy to overheat & freeze up. Recommend: NO OPINION

GOOD DEVICE
I previously owned a 765T and it was a very good device. Unfortunately, the 885T is not up to my expectations: first the speak command is quite primitive and secondly the MSN traffic assistance is not the best I've seen.

NEW NUVI
I had a Quest II before this one. This unit is faster, lighter and has a bigger brighter screen. Response time and satellite acquisition is so much better. Speakers are built into the unit. Touch screen is easier to use. I haven't tried the voice commands yet.

EXCELLENT CHOICE FOR THE MONEY
I am truly impressed with the unit. Extremely accurate, graphics aree phenominal and the hands free phone feature is outstanding. I use MSN direct now all the time, just wish it could capture a wider regional area. Cons: every once in a while it tends to overheat and touych screen won't work. Removing the battery and putting it back clears the confition. Voice recognition is good but requires a pretty quiet environment to understand (yet it is much better than the magellan I owned) abd you need to speak very loud to overcome highway noise, at least in my vehilce, with the windows up when going over 80KMH (50mph). Still, even with the few weaknesses it is truly a superior product.
Pros: very accurate, msn direct, bt, voice capability Cons: overheats requiring reset by removing battery Recommend: YES

GARMIN NUVI 885T GPS
I have purchased eleven garmins over the last six years as i had to travel for a living. I gradually worked my way up to the NUVI 885T as we have to use only hands free here in Ontario (it's the law here) and i have never had any unit including all my Garmins, Tom Toms, and Magellans work so fast and so accurately!! Had i known about this unit i would have bought it first instead of buying and trying other units!
Pros: best garmin i have ever bought and used!!! Cons: none on this unit Recommend: YES

PERFECT MATCH
Before deciding on the Garmin Nuvi 885T, I looked at other models as well as other manufactures. I decided to purchase a Garmin GPS device as Garmin is a company based in the USA. Next, I determined that following features were important to me: - 4.3 screen size - Traffic - Lane Assist Hands Free Voice Recognition is a bonus. I have found in my experience the route calculation is quick and accurate. MSN Direct Traffic has good timing (I've missed several traffic slowdowns because of an alert.)
I am very happy with my Garmin Nuvi 885T. I have used Garmin's site for help to get map updates, find an AC adapter/charger and verify which SD cards it accepted. Each time I sent an email requesting specific information. Each time I received an email from a REAL person with the exact information I needed and not an canned email suggesting I look at a knowledge base article. Garmin's customer service is Great.
My GPS City experience has also been great. I purchased from GPS City because they are an Garmin authorized dealer. They offered the 885T at an excellent price. GPS City shipped immediately. In all my experience with this GPS device and the GPS device dealer has been excellent.
Not only would I suggest to a friend to purchase the Garmin Nuvi 885T, but I would also suggest they purchase from GPSCity.com
Pros: 4.3, traffic, lane assist, hands free, garmin-usa Cons: ac adapter/charger not included. Recommend: YES

A VERY GOOD AUTOMOTIVE GPS
delivery was fast, the package was complete, free updating via my mac was brain-free, the display is clear and helpful, start-up is fast. a few small geographical areas have glitches, e.g., an old neighborhood in charlottesville, but in every dimension it is much improved over the 350 it replaced.

I'M IMPRESSED
This is my first GPS and one word sums it up: AMAZING! I specifically spent a good deal for Voice Recognition so I can drive hands free and this GPS, along with the Bluetooth, has made this happen. The Voice Recognition works well and all the other features accomodate all my needs. A must buy if you can afford it.
Pros: bluetooth, voice recognition, ease of use Cons: non that i have encountered to date Recommend: YES

BIG ON VOICE RECOGNITION, LIGHT ON FEATURES
Had a Streetpilot 2820 before this unit so I'm already missing some of the features my previous unit had and the 885t does not eg: the 885t doesn't let you customize your display. I like seeing the elevation at all times. The 2820 allows full control, the 885t doesn't.
Also, this unit has locked up twice already. I had to pull the battery out to force a reset. Hopefully a firmware upgrade will fix this bug.
Very good speech recognition (especially with an external mike). MSN Direct works as advertised. Weather, stocks, news etc update regularly. Traffic reporting (Vancouver BC) is non existent even though MSN claims it offers "incident reports". Bluetooth pairs perfectly with my Blackberry 8830.
Pros: slick data input without hands free Cons: not very customizable Recommend: YES
