GREAT PACKABLE DASH MOUNT
Pros: works in every vehicle Cons: leaves a residue on dash
bought this bc i travel to california regularly. they have laws about mounting stuff to windshield. plus windshield mount doesn't seem to work very well for extended periods. i've used this product in several different rental cars. i've never had a situation where i could find a place to put it. it is small enough to pack in a camera case with the gps and the power cord. it doesn't weigh as much as the bean bag version and you can transfer it quickly from vehicle to vehicle. the only down side is that it leaves a residue if you leave it in the car for an extended period. i think the residue will just wipe off. i don't own a lexus, so i don't care about the mark.

BETTER THAN SUCTION MOUNT
Pros: doesn't move and comforms to any dashboard.
We purchased one of these for my wifes Odyssey as the suction mount kept falling off the windshield and with the friction mount we have had no problems. It molded nicely to the dash configuration and hasn't moved since (Except for cleaning the dash). I purchased one for me Matrix and it also conformed to the curves of the dash and it also hasn't moved either. The cold has no affect on it's "Staying Put". We are extremely satisfied with this product. Well worth the price.

BEST MOUNT FOR TEXTURED DASHBOARDS
Pros: perfect Cons: haven't found one yet
This mount is a friction mount and is easy to use. I store it with the plastic cover on it and put it back into the plastic bag it came in - each time I am finished using it. It is perfect for those dashes where the "disk mounts" won't glue to the textured dash.

BEST MOUNT
Pros: perfect Cons: none
I have no regret for having purchased this mount. It won't fit on every car dash but on mine, a Honda Element it is perfect. It doesn't move even when I travel in the gravel or rough roads. Garmin should include this mount with their GPS instead of the sticky disk that they provide.

Pros: light weight works as advertized
It works very well. The main attribute is that it is not heavy which makes it acceptable for international travel.

FUNCTIONAL FRICTION MOUNT
Pros: narrow width flexible ball mount Cons: 'sricky' base must be protected when off the dash.
Used on a sloping dash on a Nissan Rogue. Held my Garmin Nuvi in place without difficulty.
Unit molds with some stiffness to a gentle slope. One can imagine the 'sticky base losing grip soon, without careful protection. I put mine in a plastic bag when not on the dash.
Has some weight to it, and this helps hold the unit in place.

EXCELLENT DESIGN THAT DELIVERS
Pros: very stable in all types of driving.
A quality mount that provides a lot of stability. I have used it in several vehicles with varying dash board pitch or slope. On a flat surface (Hummer H3) it is rock solid. On a surface with more slope (Mercedes SL500)it is still very good. Backing surface has great grip without any adhesive.
I have used window suction cups...this is MUCH better.

NUVI FRICTION MOUNT
Pros: good quality, high resistance to slipage
Nice foot print, strong anti slip. Well worth the trouble of storing and installing. I had a suction cup mount (which I prefer) and loss it and my old Nuvi to a "bust and grab" oh well. This is a practical solution.

GARMIN NUVI PORTABLE FRICTION MOUNT
I use this mount everytime we go somewhere and take along the Garmin. It sits where I put it and never moves no matter how quickly I accelerate or deaccelerate! I was surprised as how easy it is to use and folds perfectly to fit into the bag I purchased to put all the gps equipment in.

VERY GOOD BUT...
The mount works well but does have a few minor drawbacks. The sticky surface stays in place but because it is sticky tends to pick up dust. Mount also rocks slightly at idle but when car is in motion it is not noticeable. The base flexes to fit curved dashboards but tends to straighten out a bit if the surface is more curved than straight. Despite the slight tendency to straighten out it will stay in place even during spirited cornering. This should work in virtually any vehicle.

WORKS GREAT
Pros: works like it's designed Cons: cost
This mount works great. I have a dash-mat protector on my dash, and this mount does not slip or slide one bit. I just set it on the flat portion of the center dash and forget it. The GPS snaps in and out like a snap.

PORTABLE FRICTION MOUNT
Pros: stays on the dash and is portable
I already had a "bean bag" mount for my dashboard but it kept sliding right off when I accelerated, This mount is rock steady and does not slide at all. I don't like window mounting my GPS so dash mount is exactly what I needed. If you want to dash mount your GPS and be able to move it from one vehicle to another then I highly recommend this product.

GARMIN PORTABLE FRICTION MOUNT
Pros: works well Cons: older vehicles may send vibrations to gps unit
Perfect for easy stowage to prevent theft of unit in urban areas. Easier to work with than a windshield mount, which is a target for theft by itself. Affords many positional options in most vehicles. Sleek, stable, low profile.

EXCELLENT MOUNT FOR RELATIVELY FLAT SURFACE
Pros: clean installation Cons: takes some time to get proper fit
Mount conforms to relatively flat dashes. It takes a little forming before it will conform to the dash properly. The mount does not self form. Our installation is on a 2009 3 Series BMW. The mount stays in place during spirited driving. Much better looking than the beanbag mount, takes up less space, and is just as secure. It has fairly decent mass and low center of gravity so stays put.

GREAT MOUNT!
Pros: very secure, smaller and looks good Cons: none
It sets very securely on my car's dash with no movement even on bumpy, twisting roads. I have used the older beanbag mount and the new mount seems as secure as it, and is much more attractive and much less obtrusive. I definately prefer it over the beanbag model.

DISAPPOINTING
Pros: compact, foldable, nice styling Cons: gps unit vibration
I've had the new friction mount on my dashboard for a few days and my Garmin 750 is vibrating so much that I'm ready to go back to the old beanbag model.
The new mount has a folding arm with a ball on the end that connects to the GPS unit. The base is made of heavy "flexible" rubber with a sticky silicone pad on the bottom.
The main problem is that it's almost impossible to get the base to conform to the shape of the dash. The rubber is bendable but it doesn't maintain its shape, and flexing one part of the base always seems to deform some other part.
Another problem is that the arm assembly can't be rotated horizontally on the base. This makes it hard to orient the base toward the driver.
I would recommend the old beanbag mount. It works perfectly - the only disadvange being that it's a little bulky.
