I LOVE IT
Pros: read my review Cons: read my review
One of the main reason why I bought this unit was to navigate/explore European cities. I could've bought an automobile navigation GPS but as I like to go trekking I wanted something that could do a bit of everything. So far it has lived up to the Garmin brand and to my expectations/needs.
Touchscreen is responsive and easy to use. The menus are clear, well organized and very intuitive as It's easy to switch from one map to another. The size and weight of the unit feel good in the palm of my hand.
When using road maps, it can take a lot of time to zoom out since the unit is loading many POI. ABCDE keypad... I would have preferred a good old "landscape" oriented QWERTY keypad. When panning the map it gets into a "mark waypoint" mode which can be annoying.
Good preparation is essential even when using a GPS to navigate. There are a lot of POI that come with the map but not everything is there. This unit really allowed me to get the most out of my trip.

OREGON 400T
Pros: sunlight readable Cons: the buyer pays for return shipment on defective un
The 400t would not respond to the map icon and some of the other items on the touch screen. GPSCITY tech support was contacted and found to be technically competent. A beta version of the firmware was loaded but did not fix the problem. The unit was returned to GPSCITY and anouther one was shipped. The next unit performed as expected. Found the automotive mode not as intuitive as other Garmin automotive unites

SIGNIFICANT UPDATE IN HANDHEL GPS
Pros: adaptable
This GPS handles differently than prior models not only in it's form factor but how it handles mapping information. I have loaded City Navigator onto the device in addition to the pre-loaded TOPO 2008. With the profile function I have been able to set the display to use TOPO only, CN only, or a combination of the two with a few soft- key presses. There have been some concerns with the display in bright sunlight but using advice on setting up a profile for high visibility I've been able to navigate easily in maximum sun. The way tracks are saved is different than prior models I've had in that when you save a track it's saved in a GPX format. To load it into a computer based mapping program you must open the file instead of downloading from the unit. The carry case is well thought out and I'm able to place it on a shoulder strap where the GPS is viewable when the clamshell case is unlatched. The sensitivity is very good and I can receive a signal with the GPS in the case while also in a pack pocket. The topo map detail is displayed effectively though use of terrain shading does affect sunlight visibility. This is a very flexible unit.

OREGON MISSING FEATURES (UPDATE)
Cons: very few
In my previous review I stated the Oregon wouldn't communicate with a PC for moving map work because it immediately goes into data storage mode. I have since discovered, it will communicate correctly if you select Spanner Interface Mode. This feature is not explained in the manual.

OREGON MISSING FEATURES
I upgraded to the Oregon after my old Garmin eMap finally died. It is a nice little unit with lots of features, but unfortunately it is missing two of the features my eMap had. 1. It won't supply NMEA data to my moving map software on my laptop because as soon as you connect it to the computer it goes data storage mode. 2. It doesn't trackback properly. The eMap had an arrow pointing to the way to go and it would beep when approaching a significant turn. The Oregon does this with routes, but not with tracks like the eMap.

Unit works good and looks good, but is VERY hard to see outdoors. Backlit or not I just can't see the screen. I have several older Garmin GPS's that are better.
