We took a family vacation to the South Lake Tahoe area and booked one of those riverboat cruises. We were under way to Emerald Bay when I heard a plane making a low pass.

They have a Mark Twain impersonator that mingles and gives little speeches about things that are supposed to be historically accurate. It was entertaining and made the trip interesting.

I was playing with my GPS as I was curious what altitude the lake level was, 6252 by my Garmin Quest. The next thing I see when I look up is the large plane that had been circling low skimming the water! I thought it was going to land but instead it just pulled up and headed off.

I had never seen such a thing, being from an area that doesn't deal much with wildfires and it was quite interesting.

We continued on to Emerald Bay where we say eagle nests, Vikingsholm castle and Fannette Island. It was quite a day.

Later that week we used the Garmin Quest to navigate around the lake and take a side trip to Donner and then up to the Olympic village to have a June snowball fight!

Dad and Me at the Pavillion near the Dam
Dad and Me at the Pavillion near the Dam

My dad and I do some father-son motorcycle trips. We both avoid the superslab when ever possible. Late last September he called and wanted to ride over to the Land Between the Lakes with a request to route it through the more scenic areas.

I've got a Garmin Quest with Mapsource software so I fired up my copy and plotted a meandering route out and back. I've got my Quest mounted on my BMW with a RAM mount and the Quest charging module.

We had a blast, just tooling around the different back roads. It was a great day. We don't get to spend enough time together any more.

RAM UBOLT MOUNT FOR GARMIN QUEST 2 ON A 2004 KAWASAKI 1500CC NOMAD

On the right handlebar is my Garmin Quest 2 purchased from you, mounted with a 3" RAM arm and 1 inch handlebar mount, for the powered Garmin unit. On the left is my J&M 2003 CB/weather radio/accessory audio player unit (also mounted with a 1.75 inch arm and handlebar mount), with an "audio in" feed from my GPS motorcycle mount, so while I am travelling, listening to my MP3 /FM tuner or talking on the radio, I can still hear my GPS warning me of upcoming turns.
