Flyboy New York Sep 22, 2010	GARMIN RINO 130 Pros: it's a garmin Have only had the device for a couple of weeks and haven't had much time to use it. I am assuming that it will perform very well. I have other Garmin devices and they are superb. I have been using Garmin for some twenty years now because they are the best. Recommend? YES 119 viewers found this helpful.

Steve NY Prior to 2008	I have owned a few of the RINO 130s and am not very happy with them. I do very much like the way the unit is set up and some of its options but the radio side of the unit is so poorly made that it really makes the unit difficult to use. The transmit quality is so bad that I have all but given up on the RINO 130. I have been in contact with Garmin about this a number of times and their answer is that "we make GPS units not radios". I was shocked that that was their response. I heard that more then once from them. Other then the radio, I like the unit but it is not at all worth the money if you plan on using the radio along wit t he GPS. Recommend? YES 276 viewers found this helpful.

Bob Browder FL Prior to 2008	I use the Rhino 130 for hiking, backpacking, and biking. If performs as advertised. In place of alkaline batteries I use lithium and I have found that they give excellent performance. I can go five days in the woods with suffcient power for some minimal radio commincations and all the GPS track recording I want. The multiple functions allow me to eliminate a watch, compass, altimeter, weather radio, plus have a GMRS radio if I need one. (I do carry a regular compass as a back-up). The peer-to-peer positioning works well. As to the radio, it works as well as any "typical" FRS/GMRS radio of 1 watt. As a licensed GMRS user I do have better radios but the RHINO 130 combination is really handy. Recommend? YES 219 viewers found this helpful.
