GARMIN RINO EAR RECEIVER

Pros: great idea.
Cons: too bulky & cumbersome

Your response in sending the item was excellent. Unfortunately the ear receiver is cumbersome and I need to have my radio up quite loud to hear. This upsets my wife.I have had to revert to my full headphones.

GREAT ADDITION FOR YOUR RINO

Pros: fits either ear, reliable, reasonably priced
Cons: managing the wire from the jack to the receiver

Our hunting party typically includes 4 to 10 members. We hunt in drives and everyone has a RINO so we can maintain a tight line throughout the hunt. This requires that everyone update their position frequently, as well as provide situational updates over the radio as necessary. The end result is a significant amount of radio traffic that is very disruptive and can be quite distracting when broadcast over the RINO speaker. Over the course of the last several years we have tried several different receiver/microphone setups with disappointing results. The microphones were marginal at best and the receiver/earpieces didn't fit well or couldn't be used by those with hearing aids. The units that did fit well tended to block any sound in that ear other than radio traffic. When I tried my first Garmin RINO Earpiece I immediately knew I had hit upon the solution to our problem. The units are ready to go right out of the box. They are rugged and reliable and allow you to hear "around" the receiver. Our hunters with hearing aids have clipped the receiver to their hat so it hangs over their ear and works wonderfully....no more missed radio traffic. The majority of our hunting party now uses the Garmin RINO Ear Receiver. The only issue we have with the receiver is the wire running between the jack and the receiver....it is more than adequate in length, but keeping it tucked out of the way can sometimes be an issue. In my opinion this is a "good" problem as I would rather have the wire longer than shorter.
