STREETPILOT 2720

This is a great gps! I love the way you can load waypoints! If a tree is 2000 ft off road or trail, you can mark it! If you have a cordanence,(like geocaching),you can add it! Keep this model updated!! THANKS GARMIN!

Super sensitive. I live in Seoul, South Korea where the streets are 8 feet wide and the buildings block at least 75% of the sky. My 2720 rarely loses a strong signal. I use a 3rd party maping software that is detailed down to "goat trails". I also fly with a Garmin and the qualities are the same in the 2720 as they are on the 496. Thanks Garmin!

The new 2720 is easier to use than the 2610 but it has been dumbed down. There are no longer slider bars to let you chose how much of major or minor roads you want to use. On the positive side you can now easily add more destinations but you only have three choices of routes faster time, shorter distance and off road. You can no longer use the slider bars to adjust the amount of the type of roads you want to use, but you can now actually name the roads you want to avoid. All in all it is a great unit and with the added speech function to announce upcoming turns it is good GPS. Thanks John K

I find the Garmin 2720 to be "dumbed down" when compared to the Garmin 2620 in some features. Specifically, the custom route setup no longer has a slide-bar indicator to allow varied customization of road preferences. So far, I have not found a way to erase recent finds, which means I will have to keep a lot of recent finds to sort through each time. However, the improvements are REALLY improvements. I am very impressed with the new screen images and the announcer's voice announcing the street NAMES is a great improvement. Multiple destination routing is much easier and the ability to enter specific road avoidances is very nice. Overall, I am very impressed with this unit. Thank you for protecting the screen with a hard cover. This was a major concern for me whenever I traveled by plane with the unit in the carrying case. If my new 2720 serves me as well as my 2620 did for the past 18 months, I will be thrilled.

For those of you who own a C-series or an M5 and miss the unit displaying exit data on interstates while navigating as previous Garmin units did. This unit is for you. You can even search for and route to exits. The unit display is crystal clear and they werent kidding when they said, "sunlight readable." Screen Protector is an added bonus, and, the unit uses no hard drive. Its all solid state, which is good news for motorcyclist. Ive owned Garmin units since the GPS 12 and this is by far the best Car GPS on the market.

THE GARMIN 2720 IS A VERY GOOD UNIT WITH SOME EXCEPTIONS. MY UNIT TRIES TO DIRECT ME DOWN A ROAD NEAR MY HOME THAT DOES NOT EXIST. IT DOES NOT GIVE ME THE OPTION TO IGNORE THE ROAD AND GO A DIFFERENT WAY. IT HAS NONE OF THE STREET ADDRESSES IN THE RURAL PARTS OF OUR COUNTY. IT HAS, IN QUITE A FEW INSTANCES, SENT ME DOWN ROADS WHICH WERE VERY MUCH OUT OF THE WAY. IT HAS NO SYSTEM FOR LEARNING OR CORRECTING MISTAKES. THE MAPPING SOFTWARE IS APPARENTLY VERY OUTDATED IN RURAL AREAS OF NORTH CAROLINA AND BADLY NEEDS TO BE UPDATED.
