GARMIN 7200 - #1 BY FAR
This is the second 7200 I have purchased from you . . . they are by far the best units on the street. I want a large screen and this is it. No problems with the unit . . . . downloads can be very difficult.
Pros: no operational problems - 2010 best map ever! Cons: downloads required tech support. Recommend: YES

DO NOT BUY!
My unit went out after 2 years. May sound like a long time but not after spending $900
Touch screen will not work and prevents remote from working also. I will not buy another garmin!

HUGE DISPLAY, FAST, AWESOME SET-UP WITH RAM MOUNT
This was my 3rd GPS purchase, the first I planned on using for vehicle navigation (before I relied on the Hertz Never Lost System) which before using the 7200 I thought was great. The 7200 is far and above the biggest and best automotive GPS on the market. I use it when I travel to a new destination and it has not failed me yet. I bought it over 18 months ago and it is still working perfectly.
I do use the RAM suction mount and an external antenna as the antenna makes it get a fix faster and is great for very urban areas where otherwise reception could be blocked.
Buy this GPS, you'll be happy! (I have since used this side by side with the Hertz Neverlost and the 7200 was so much faster and easier to use)
Also I really do trust GPSCity as they have yet failed to disappoint.
Pros: huge screen size, touch screen, fast Cons: external antenna improves operation Recommend: YES

This unit is simply awesome. The 7200 was an upgrade from 2620 that i have used for over five years.Map routing is a lot faster than 2620.The MP3 player through the FM transmitter definitely enhances personal choice of music.I will definitely recommend this unit to any one who has a big enough dash to mount the unit. The unit was preloaded with 2008 software that was quickly upgraded to 2009 software free of charge from the Garmin site.

RICHARD FROM TEXAS
This is a great unit. I've had it about two weeks, and I've only tested it locally. There were a few POI problems, but I'm still learning how to input my custom POIs. We are going to fly to Portland on the west coast in early May and we'll go into Canada too. I want to get the XM radio unit too, but it costs too much.

Flew from Maryland to Palms Spring,Ca.with my 7200 in my carryon just to test it on the west coast. Surprising to me the rental car people were renting smaller gps for about 15 bucks a day, anyway it was like my own personal tour guide,we drove from Palms Spr. to L.A at least 4 of the 8 days we were there and never did we go 2 or come back the same way twice, while in L.A.we used the where to /landmark feature and saw all the sights you see and hear about on T.V. It does what it says it would do and more.Good thing its portable, because at 15 bucks or more a day it will travel with me where ever I go.PS MONEY WELL SPENT AND ---WHATS A MAP?

GARMIN 7200 -- SOMEBODY'S A PROUD NEW OWNER!
Before it was stolen last week, I used my Garmin 7200 for over 5000 miles from NJ to Florida and to Michigan, etc. It performed flawlessly, even recalculating my route when I purposely deviated from the chosen path. With each wrong turn, a female voice would announce that she was recalculating and give me new directions. After about ten wrong turns (done on purpose), my wife swore the GPS woman was getting angry with me and had a "hey, stupid" tone to her voice. Anyway, bottom line, I paid over $1000 for the first unit now that some thief is its proud new owner, I won't hesitate to buy a second. I've looked at and considered others over the last few months, but none can compare. (By the way, the serial number on my stolen unit is 43619692. If you run across her, give her my regards and send her on home to me at k2jxw@comcast.net THANKS!

THE CURRENT BEST
I bought my first GPS in 1994. Have had lots since. The 7200 is the state of the ART for 2007! Does everything it says it does, and well. The flat mount that came with it is worthless, unless you want to SCREW it to the top of your dash. Bought the 2720 beanbag mount that worked ok. Then bought the RAM big sucion cup and that works great.

Drove with it on summer vacation when received and got put on roads unsuitable for my motorhome when put on shortest routes, and found myself being told to go the wrong way on one way streets in some cities. Need to find a reasonably priced map update as it seems outdated. Otherwise it is a great piece of equipment that exceeds my wildest dreams compared to Street Atlas which has better updates.

Great unit, does everything except drive my RV. Map destination are easily created with clear voice and map directions. I can listen to MP3 music, audio books or my XM Radio with GPS driving instructions interrupting the music when required to keep you on your route. Can also view backup camera on GPS display if needed. This is my ninth Garmin GPS over the years with this one being the most advanced by far.

I just purchased and received my Garmin Street Pilot 7500 (same as the 7200) this week and took it out for a test drive. I looked long and hard for my next GPS purchase. I’ve had the eTrex legend for over 5 years. Linked to my laptop it worked OK but was awkward to say the least.
Using it as a hand held is also very awkward. Screen too small and it is really hard to read. We just purchased an RV and I wanted to get something that would be easier to use than the laptop. I new I had to have a large screen and I also had to have a Garmin product, so that pretty much narrowed down the search.
I didn’t want to spend that kind of money but wanted to be completely happy with what ever I got. So, I sucked it up and dug deep into my pocket. I’m really glad I did. I set up some routs and intentionally went off course. The 7500 was very quick to recalculate the route. I really like the fact that the directions use the streets names. That really makes a big difference. It’s easy to set up your favorites and route to them. Finding services is also a snap. The sun doesn’t bother the screen at all.
However, there are a couple of things I would like to change. And one (I can’t believe I did this) I took care of. The unit comes with a cigarette adapter hard wired into it. It was (keyword was) in the way. I took my wire cutter and cut it off. That’s right, cut it right off. My wife couldn’t believe it either. But I knew I wasn’t going to send it back. Much, much better without it. I’m surprised Garmin even engineered it without being able to disconnect the cable because of the inverters that are on the market. It comes with the 110 volt adapter.
I am also disappointed in the dash mount that it comes with. The mounting plate has double-sided-tape to attach it to the dash. No way am I going to put that on my new dashboard. I’ll figure something out. Other than that I would highly recommend this if you do a lot of traveling. It’s a little pricy but well worth it. I have it sitting next to me, in the house, and it just announced that it lost satellite reception. Anyway, happy trails,

Can you mount the Garmin 7200 temporarily without the use of the temporary disks? They don't hold up to well in the hot sun through the windshield. Leasing a vehicle so I don't want to do any permanent mounting.

Using the 7200 for 2000 miles in the last 8 days traveling from Dallas/FW via Austin to Mexico and back via Corpus Christi and Houston to Dallas, hitting 500plus waypoints (Geocaches) en route, my impression of this Garmin was very good. Right out of the box, everything worked fine.
Before this 7200 Unit, I used a Garmin 2610, and before that a Garmin c320. While the 7200 has limited (!) possibilities to configure the User interface, I installed the newest Beta Software by Garmin that allowed me to enter Waypoints (My Favorites) via coordinates (a feature I need to have).
Voice commands of the Unit was good understandable (in British English) and Satellite Reception (with an external Garmin antenna attached) very good, even in dense urban environments.
I did not need to use the Remote Control at all because the scren is large enough for my fingertips to hit what I intended to hit :-).
If you can accept the price, this is a fine automotive unit! I like it and look forward to further travels with my 7200.

In June this year I got the 7200 street pilot, due to the cost I was more than a little concerned as to getting my money's worth. Well If you are thinking think no more! On June 24 we left from Phoenix AZ. on a month drive to Flordia for my first grandsons birth and then to who knows, after leaving Tampa we headed East on two lane highways through 15 states, without getting on an interstate freeway or highway, through the deep south, up to Tennessee, and Arkansas spending 1955 miles on dirt roads with the 4X4 and country roads. During this we spent 4 or 5 days in the hills in TN. and another 5 in the Ozarks in Ar much of this time in 4 wheel drive. This machine was awesome, at no time did we not know where we were (well the gps knew) hotels, motels, the next gas station it was by far the greatest drive of our lives. After 34 years of marriage and telling my wife "of course I know where we are" she agreed at long last. Time permitting we will never fly again, and at last get to know our country and places again from long past memories. Thanks Garmin
