This is a good GPS and on the whole much more pleasant than the Navman 510 I'd been using. However, it has some drawbacks you should think about:
1) It's quite big. There's no hard case for it and its odd shape makes it hard to pack.
2) It can take up to 25 minutes (figure from Garmin tech support) for the unit to locate itself after it's been moved by more than 500 miles. This makes it pretty useless as a bring-along GPS. Sitting in a rental car for 25 minutes while the GPS figures out where it is doesn't make a lot of sense...
3) The software isn't very stable. I had it lock up twice during a 2-hour trip. Look for future firmware revisions to resolve this. Meantime, the whole unit needs to be reset (which involves removing the face plate - not nice given the frequency with which this seems to be required!)
4) The GPS doesn't seem to be as sensitive as the Navman and loses its position more often.
All in all, I'd seriously suggest giving the C340 a miss. Look at the Garmin nuvi instead - it has more features, the same screen size, the more sensitive SiRF chip set, stellar GPS performance, and a much smaller form factor.

I have own the SP340 for almost a year. It is one of my best buys. It takes the worry on of driving when you are in a strange place or at home tring to get somewhere. I have traveled by air and used it in rental cars and it works like a champ. It is also easy to down load updates when requested by Garmin or to add other up-dates. I have also mailed it to my son at college (his 1st year) and almost had to buy another one because he found so helpful and easy to use he wanted to keep it at school (thank goodness for the home setting he, the car, and the SP340 found there way home). I have also had friends use it and they can't stop talking about how great it is and easy to use.

Wonderful unit. A real snap to use right out of the box. I've tested it for two days and it worked perfect time and again. The only issue I have is that it does not come with a paper instruction book, one has to be downloaded from the computer, other wise no big deal.

I currently have 4 of these units for use in all the service vehicles that I have. I run an HVAC business that performs work in numerous states. I enter GPS coordinates into Garmin's Mapsource program on the computer and then download the info to all units. All my techs have to do is enter the site number and instantly they have turn-by-turn directions. If the site is not in the database, the address function works perfectly. These products have saved my business well over $10,000 in lost time do to inaccurate directions or lack of paper maps. All my technicians say that they could never go back to the old method. GPSCITY has been fantastic and I can't wait to get the Zumo for my V-strom 1000.
