TOPOGRAPHIC CANADA CD
Easy to use and upload info to Etrex GPS. Fairly accurate where in the areas that I need the info. Have to remember this is an older version and has not been updated with newer highways or roads. Shipping said that would be 3 to 5 days to recieve, but was received next morning in Ottawa. There is a new edition out in April, don't know if will get a free update download with it or not.

LOTS OF ERRORS
I find it ok along the 401 corridor and the Bon Echo region. However I just drove to Monton and from Woodstock to Moncton there are numerous errors. The 4 lane highway isn't in the program in most cases. Lots of roadsides not labeled. It's a disappointment. Around where I ride in Ontario the rail bed is not accurate. It really needs to be updated. However, it's better than nothing.

TOPOGRAPHIC CANADA CD
Pros: good minor street coverage Cons: none yet
So far it has everything that I have needed. Have read some reviews that it is missing data. I live in the greater Toronto area so they probably included all the data from this area.

POOR QUALITY TOPO'S
Pros: not from what i've seen
I like to use topo maps to find my way in the back country and the biggest draw back from my perspective is not being able to look at the map and plan waypoints/routes because these maps don't distinguish between wooded and open areas. I've seen the Fugawi topo maps and they show the same detail as a paper topo map. A much superior product as are the Excursionist topo maps. I take my waypoints from my paper topo and then plot them on the Garmin topo (pc) then download to my GPS. I'm sorry I purchased it. I'm going to try to sell mine.

BEST FOR GARMIN GPS
Pleased with this product. Having more detail with protected area (parks, etc.)would be better (example park boundaries). Having a hill shaded feature would also be an improvement.

NOT APPLE COMPATIBLE
One glitch to complain about. Each time I highlight more than one province at a time, it crashes my mapsource. Haven't solved that one yet. I would also like to see this work for Apple computers. Updating it would also be nice. Otherwise, good program.

I am pleased with this product. It works well on my laptop PC and, although the Garmin website doesn't say so directly, it also works well on my portable Garmin nuvi 265WT. I also have a USB plug-in Garmin GPS 18 sensor for my laptop. After I downloaded the necessary software from Garmin's website, including updated MapSource software, the MapSource topographic maps work well with it as well. It may be true that the maps aren't as up-to-date as one would like, but they are still dramatically better than using street maps.

TOPO CANADA
I don't know how good it is. I have a Mac and have download the Garmin Mac software but it does not work. While I have asked for help from Garmin they asked some questions of me and then disappeared. So until I get to a PC Windows machine I am stuck.

MAPSOURCE TOPO CANADA
I bought this product for my Garmin Summit, which is a basic handheld, that is easy to use. This unit does not have a expansion port, the Mapsource Topo's were easy to install on my PC and downloading maps to the GPS is super easy. I have now used the GPS with downloaded maps to hunt my deer area. The GPS maps have details not on my paper maps. Highly recommend these two products for someone looking for an easy to use GPS system.

OUTDATED
Was good in it's time, but is rather outdated for the money you spend. I would've expected Garmin to update the data by now but clearly, Canada is not a priority. What really kills me is that this product (outdated as it is) actually costs MORE (presently) than the TOPO USA 2008.

Although the Newfoundland railway no longer in service the rails have been removed and is now a part of the cross Canada trail system. For some reason that trail system is not shown on the mapping software. I contacted Garmin and the only answer I got was that it is contracted out and they can only supply what they in.

GEOMATICS TECH.
I use this product for reference only, combined with other maps, and for that purposed it's fine. I am however a little surprised this product is still being sold since there are newer ones available. Had this version pre-2000.

I've also had some instances where my waypoints were shown on the map as being on the wrong side of the road. However, since the accuracy of my non WAAS enabled receiver is only ~15m, I suppose I can't really complain.

Map is off. my house is on the wrong side of the road...I drive in the fields and our hunt camp is 50 meters west and 30 meters down in a canyon. its hard to negotiate with the mapping software and the maps I use when it's off like this especially when you have the distance at 30m or better. When are they going to shift the maps, so the grid matches what the gps gives you. I imagine that if you are strictly driving or site seeing it is a good product, but when you are in hilly country it throws you off when it tells you you are on the other side of a creek or high feature. I like walking and using the gps as a guide but not when I have to take the bearings from the unit and view the map.
