PART NUMBER 010-10989-50: Garmin has confirmed that part number 010-10989-50 for the City Navigator North America 2008 Update is exacting the same DVD as the one on this page with part number 010-10989-00. The reason for the slight different in the part number is due to the packaging. The City Navigator North America 2008 Update DVD that we ship is on a plastic clamp shell packaging. The DVD that ships from Garmin is in "web packaging" which means it is just the DVD in it's case.

With two versions of the Garmin City Navigator NT North America Software available, how do you know which one to purchase? Here is a quick explanation of each DVD and how they differ:
1. FREE Garmin City Navigator NT North America UPDATE DVD
This DVD is free to purchase, but requires an unlock code to access the updated mapping data. If you have purchased your compatible Garmin product (see list below) after May 1, 2007, the map data may be out of date. You can receive a free map update by first registering your Garmin GPS unit at www.mygarmin.com.
The registration process will identify if you are eligible for a free update. The Garmin website will support this feature beginning August 22, 2007.
2. Garmin City Navigator NT North America UPDATE DVD with Unlock Code
This DVD is available on line for purchase at GPS City. You can buy this update DVD when you are not eligible for the FREE Garmin update DVD mentioned above - it is cheaper then the price of buying the unlock code from the Garmin website.
