GLAD I WAITED. AMERICANS BASHING CANADIANS, GREAT
Pros: garmin 250w good product Cons: lack of knowledge of canada by americans!
Didn't get it, almost did. Thanks to ratings will keep my outdated version. Maybe later.G-Man and Dave rate Canadians poorly, not the product! You wonder why people from other countries dislike Americans?? Everyone else in the world is not stupid! A poor product is just that. And yes, companies should learn from car manufacturers mistakes, or follow them down. Customers are always right, remember. Glad I waited. GPS City is great to deal with, will always check them before purchase.

Pros: very fast delivery of dvd Cons: memory upgrade needed for c330 to hold all maps
DVD arrived very, very quickly, and nice not to have to pay Ontario tax. For owners of StreetPilot C330, if you want to load all N/America maps you'll need a 2GB SD memory card, but these are quite cheap (got mine at Walmart for $10.00)

Pros: fantastic operation. Cons: get yourselves better known.
Spent two days trying to get this update on order. Someone told me about GPScity and all troubles melted away. You were helpful, delivered product quickly and at a great price. The update is great.
Tested a new, for me, map store this week. They offered the previous update release disk, at double the price. So I bought a needed Portugese chip from you !

CITY NAVIGATOR NT 2009 NORTH AMERICA DVD
Cons: late updates are missing
Update wasn't completely as I expected some streets that were changed in our area were not updated, those changes were lees then 2 years old the ones that were done more then 3 years were updated. In the whole I'm satisfied. These streets are in the 2009 map books. I realise that we are in Canada and Garmin being an USA located company isn't to fast to update our Canadian maps but it would be nice if they would do our maps as fast as they do theirs, we do pay a good buck for the update.

GARMIN CITY NAV MAP UPDATES
This was easy to install with one caveat. Make sure you have enough memory left on your GPS to do the update. I was told to delete some of the extra cars I downloaded. It will cause errors in the installation and cause the install to fail. Nothing really tells you what the problem is. The second one I did was no problem at all. Even if you do not need this around your house now, you might when you are on the road in another city keep your maps updated.

GARMIN UPDATE REVIEW
I am a little disappointed with the 2009 update. I don't feel that it includes some of the changes it should have. It does not identify the Anthony Henday freeway in Edmonton, AB or Sunridge Way NE, Calgary, AB. Those are only two examples of the updates that are missing. I sincerely hope there will be a free update available to the 2009 update in the near future to correct these and other required changes. Attention to these concerns would be greatly appreciated.

Hello:
This is not necessarily a review of the product but rather a request for assistance. When I purchased my Streetpilot i3, it came with City Select NA NT Version 7.01.
I have loaded the software and downloaded it to my GPS. I recently went to Port Huron Huron from London Ontario which is a simple 100 KM down Highway 402. However, using the new software, the route chosen took me to Toronto, back down highway 401 to Detroit and then through the USA to Port Huron. Needless to say, I did not follow.
The updated software ordered was for City Navigator North America NT 2009. Will this software work with my unit and if not can I return it for exchange?

VERY BAD INSTALLATION DESIGN
This software can only install from the C: drive. Unlike almost every other software program on the planet, it doesn't give you the option to specify a different install drive. My hard drive is partitioned in multiple drives, with C reserved only for the system. I don't have 3 gigs spare on the C drive for Garmin.
I can't believe their software engineers skipped such a basic thing as this.

WASTE OF MONEY
I have to say that I'm very disappointed - I ordered the update and installed it, and have the exact same, out-dated maps as I had before. I've had it "show" gas stations that haven't existed for 15 years, it doesn't display roadways or developments that have been completed for at least 5 years and is basically just out-dated. Not impressed at all.

IT'S TIME FOR THE UPDATE
2 years have gone by since I purchased my Quest2 and 7200 Garmin unit. It was time to update the mapping files. Like all other Garmin product I have purchased over the many years of owning a GARMIN GPS unit , I have found that the updated maps available deliver what they are set out to provide. I travel alot thruout North America and have found the updated maps are for the most part quite accurate. If your maps are 2 or more year old, it's time to "bite the bullet" and spend some $$ and get your GPS unit up to date economically and update the maps. (Rumours have it, that the updates are very accurate for East Coast CANADA, but then again, us in the West Coast don't go to East Coast Canada anyways. (Just Kidding).

UPDATE City Navigator NT 2009 North America DVD Most of the updates I was hoping for in western Canada are not there. Calgary has had Costco's for over 15 years and none of them are in the 'Points of Interest". It also did not recognize the ferry terminal just south of Nanaimo which as been there for a very long time. A friend of mine on Vancouver Island is living at an address that is at least 8 years old and it is not on there either. In my mind it I through my money away and the Canadian updates are not noticeable. the delivery was excellent. No problem with the install using a Mac. Believe it or not, it will not even show or pick up the address of the Garmin dealership I bought the software from and that area of Calgary is over 10 years old!!!!

GARMIN UPDATE A BIG IMPROVEMENT
I recently purchased the 2009 update for my Nuvi 660 purchased in 2008. Delivery was excellent, install was straight forward. Recent changes to major highways in the Fredericton, NB area were not included in the original map data base which was very annoying. All that has changed with the 2009 upgrade and the POI's have been improved big time. This upgrade has increased our satisfaction with the 660 GPS significantly. GPSCity seems to be a great business to deal with. Top marks.

GARMIN MAP UPDATE 2009
Although there is nothing physically wrong with the map update, I find it is lacking for updated Canadian content. Admittedly, Southern Ontario has been doing tons of construction, it seems that either none of the new changes have been passed on to Navteq or Navteq isn't trying to squeeze the info out of the proper authorities. For Southern Ontario customers, stay with 2008 until 2010 comes out and hope for the best... It was not worth my $60...

I am thoroughly upset with Garmin. I called them when I had a problem installing the upgrade and was informed that with this update they have taken away the option to choose the drive you can save the application to. It is only allowed to be saved on C:/ and since I have no C drive on my laptop I have wasted my money buying this product. I also sent an inquiry to their support group on their website (Sept 26, 2008) and have not heard one word back from them either. Looks like I'll be using my GPS with old maps for a very long time.

Product was delivered in a very timely manner. The product update loaded into the Garmin device without a hitch. Very satisfactory. The major reason for the upgrade was that we found information gaps in New Brunswick and Ontario with the previous version. To date there are still information gaps in Ontario in particular to the Port Hope region. we have not travelled back to New Brunswick to verify the information relating to the super highways that have been developed in that region. Aside from that we find the product very satisfactory.

LOVE MY GARMIN, BUT WIFE'S TOMTOM BETTER UPDATE
I too was planning to update as I live in Canada and found a few popular streets over 20 years old not on here. I was hoping a new update would fix this, but I found I can not download or buy the CD. Speaking to a rep at Garmin, I would either buy from a Canadian Online store, or Best Buy. I bought my wife a TOMTOM for comparison, and aside from Garmin being easier to use and understand, TOMTOM need a bit of getting used to. What I don't like most is not having a volume control external and have to turn it down after a few clicks on the screen. The great thing about TOMTOM is it has the streets my Garmin is missing. I hear good and bad from TOMTOM and so far having both side by side, the TOMTOM has better maps. My opinion only.

I was traveling from Toronto Ontario to Three Mile Plains Nova Scotia and at some point in New Brunswick between Edmundston and Moncton the Garmin map had my floating off the Transcanada highway for some 30 to 60 min. It could not find the address that I was looking but instead pointed out some place in Windsor, Nova Scotia, and one of the reasons is that the Garmin cannot search through all of the Postal Codes that are truly available. The Garmin GPS is not very friendly for parts of Canada, especially the Maritime provinces.

GARMIN IN CANADA C330
I've just called Garmin. some of the Garmin products we are trying to update are too old to have enough memory. Street Maps c330 is one. So you have to insert a SD card in the unit and upload the additional maps to the card. Keep it in and you have all the maps. There is an "install maps" icon on the computer you downloaded the new maps to. Put in SD card and connect your garmin and click on Install Maps icon and presto it will let you send the part you didn't upload to your garmin, to the SD card. It is worthwhile calling support to get help.

STOP RATING GARMIN ON THE ACCURACY OF IT'S MAPS ..
Garmin is not responsible for the DATA in the map. They _ARE_ responsible for the route planning etc. The map data is provided by a third party (NavTeq) who in turn, get their data from public sources... If you find the navteq data is bad, then make sure you purchase a GPS that uses data from another provider.
PS: Also, Garmin's website has a program that allows you to view the data included in the release :-)

C330 UPDATE?
I received the notice from Garmin that a map update was available - went to their website, can't download, I live in Canada. Ok, try to order the CD , I live in Canada, can't order it. Call Garmin and they say they can't ship updates to Canada. They can sell their products here, but can never update it for Cdn Customers unless I go through a 3rd party. Or, I could just buy a new GPS with more functions for $145.00 more than the update costs.
Sorry Garmin, I like the product, but obviously you have little to no care for Canadian customers.

WORKS FOR ME.
In the Chicago area, new I-355 extension is in 2009 maps. Yes it loads on the XP. The changes I reported to Navteq were included on this update. Quit your idle complaints and report deficiencies to Navteq or Garmin. It's only going to get better if we make it so.

No updates for my area, Garmin was contacted and they responded that the 2009 version is actually from 2007 or earlier. Don't believe the computer requirements either. You need at least 7 meg of free drive space to install this item. You can't use a secondary drive iether it goes to your :C drive only. No updates will be forthcoming either, not for free anyway.

2009 UPDATE
They do not state in the update for 2009 that if you are in Canada there are actually 4 updates, and you can only choose one at a time to use on your GPS
You can load each of the others with a SD ??????? the four are, Canada and border states, 48 southern states, east, and west

2008NT DELUXE
If I followed the routes Garmin says to take I would be lost.. Luckily I know where I am going. Coverage in Northern BC and Alberta are lousy. Garmin has to do better updates for Canada .Some of the paved roads are not even on the map??? Am not planning to get 2009 version.

When loading unto a Nuvi 650, you can not load all of North America unless you make room by deleting unused language files. Looks like the 2009 data is much larger than the pre-installed 2007 data and exceeds the 2G limit of the internal storage.

The maps offer very poor detail in Atlantic Canada. Many new highways and roads have been in place for 3-4 years. What is the point of a yearly update?

NEW BRUNSWICK POOR MAPING
I was traveling from Montreal to Prince Edward Islands and at some point the Garmin map had my floating off road :) This was lasting for about 30 mins or even more. As if garmin forgot a whole road or something. This is pretty sad since that was a main highway and Garmin is known as one of the best companies out there...

2009 UPDATES IS ALL MESSED UP
They must have outsourced this to an oversees company because I'm now being mapped through the coalfields of WV instead of the interstate system. I just want my old map back. I no longer have confidence in my GPS

UPDATING NûVI 350
My computer is equipped with Windows XP and in your ad it was mentioned that the update was compatible with Windows 2000 and up. But when the package arrived at home. It was clearly indicated that the disk was compatible only with Windows Vista, Mac,Universal, Nacteq and dmti. So to update my GPS I had to make some arrangements with someone who owns a Mac. Why didn't you send me a disk compatible with Windows XP?
[Ed. note: The software IS compatible with Windows 2000/XP. On the back of the box it states "Windows 2000 or newer versions." This includes Windows XP.]

Won't recomend buying this update. Wasn't told I would need a sd card to update my C330. Two updates on the map I wanted to see weren't there. One was in S.W. On. from the 403 East bound to the QEW Niagara. You can take the Linc. in Hamilton to Red Valley Prkwy direct to the QEW Niagara and save 5 mins. or more on your trip. The other update was in Greensboro N.C. The road has been changed around the airport. Would be nice to know where I was going when there. How many other changes are not on the map???? If I had a choice I think I would wait for the next update.

EXCELLENT, A REAL MUST...
Excellent, I was extremely impressed with the update and also the POI, they built a runabout in my city just last summer and it is already there! Restaurant, gas station and golf courses (including the new one) are also there. Conclusion I’m very satisfied with this update. I received what I expected and more no wonder Garmin is on top. Regards from Vaudreuil city (just outside Montreal), Qc, Canada

POOR MAPS
I like my Garmin GPS a lot, but I won't be buying any update either. I live in Nova SCotia - just next to Wayne's New Brunswick, and the details in this area are very poor. Just the other day, I was being routed via a dead end street, but as soon as I turned around, it chose a route that I normally would have taken. Most of the smaller towns and villages do not have street names and I am sure they will not have them again in the new one.

UPDATED GARMIN 200W 2009 NORTH AMERICA MAPS
Just updated my 2008 maps on my 9 mos old Garmin 200W today and initially I was worried that satellite access was suddenly much worse as I could not lock on to satellite after multiple tries in front and back yard. (Previous version generally gave rapid access most of the time). Later today it did access while on the road). Maybe a sunspot issue, I dunno. Installation of update was straightforward but took several hours to load maps (DSL. Just went to bed and it was done in the AM). As expected I checked on some favorite pre-loaded POI's and found 1 no longer in business as of about 1+ yrs ago. Plugged in a new housing development NE of Raleigh, NC and this version has the whole development mapped (2 yrs old). Fastest vs shortest doesn't seem to follow how we usually travel and of course, there is no "memory/recall" no matter how many times the route is traveled. Newer generation units may have this utility. We'll see. I'll not likely update again for another 3 yrs. Garmin's units are really tops, esp compared to an on-sale Jensen I tried but quickly returned it when I realized that updating was not an option. Maps also old. POI's available from 3rd parties include: Regular and Super Wal-Marts, Costco's, Trader Joe's and we like those places when we travel. Red lights warnings, Starbucks and others available if interested. Oh, in case anyone is wondering is you can "share" the update software, you can't. Installs on 1 Garmin unit only. There may be a way of "unlocking" it in case the Garmin is "fried/fricked up" but I don't know. Be sure to note that the software version matches your particular model. The NT City Navigator North America doesn't work on some of the StreetPilots.
