One of Garmin's most popular and successful outdoor handheld GPS series is the Garmin eTrex series. These outdoor GPS devices are small, light weight, sunlight readable, battery efficient and rugged, making it a must have for anyone that is seriously into backcountry adventuring.
The new eTrex 10, 20 and 30 are superior devices when it comes to acquiring a position in hard to track areas like urban and mountain canyons. They track two global navigation satellite systems: GLONASS and GPS. GLONASS is the russian equivalent to GPS (NAVSTAR), therefore the new eTrex gives you almost twice as many satellites to track at any given time.
The user interface is intuitive making it easy to use, and can be learned by anyone in minutes. The mappable Garmin eTrex units support Garmin BirdsEye topo, Birdseye satellite and custom maps that can be used in conjunction with Garmin's regular vector mapping options such as City Navigator and Bluecharts. Like other Garmin outdoor GPS units the eTrex supports waypoints, tracks, routes and paperless Geocaching. |
