GREAT PIECE OF KIT
I have been using the item in a desert climate while always wearing gloves when handling it (job necessity). It is holding up the the abuse excellently. The use of gloves has no negative affect on using the touch screen. The wireless transfer is a great tool and I use it quite a bit. The menu's are a breeze to navigate. Imputing grid's and creating way points is no trouble at all with this unit. My only complaint is that the screen doesn't go quite bright enough on very sunny days.

RAM PORTABLE PRINTER MOUNT
The printer mount was easy to install, once I decided where I wanted to put the printer it took me just a few minutes to tighten the clamp onto the main stem of the Ram Computer mount. The mount is sturdy and has held my printer without fail over some rough roads that are under construction.
Pros: adjusts easily if you need to move the printer. Recommend: YES

MOTORCYCLE GPS MOUNT
This is an excellent application for a motorcycle GPS. It installed easily and quickly on my collector Honda CB900 Custom. I plan on switching the mount back and forth between my motorcycle and a bicycle (I will be biking in Europe next spring). If I had thought of it when ordering I would have ordered one extra handle bar mount to make it even easier to switch back and forth. I would highly recommend this product.

ZUMO 550 USED ON VESPA GTS 300 AND JEEP WRANGLER
The Zumo 550 was a perfect fit for the two vehicles I had and came equipped with mounts for both car and Scooter. Works well in full daylight, and although a bit talkative when approaching a change, it is extremely accurate. Touch Screen is excellent and very easy to manipulate the maps to new way points, etc. The only glitch is that no mileage is shown to the end destination, only to the next waypoint or intersection. One other Con is that there is a small screw that can be tightened to lock the Zumo into the motorcycle mount. That screw will continue to set itself even when you don't want to lock it in. I finally removed it, and just remove the Zumo and lock it up when leaving scooter in public places.
Pros: bright screen, ease of use due to touch screen. Cons: no mileage shown to end destination - only time Recommend: YES

NEW 2010 MAPS FOR 2720 STREET PILOT
At this time I have not used the new maps for a trip/vacation but tried it on a short 60 mile trip that I knew the road had changed & the changes were on the new maps. Yes it took a long time to load & I needed to call a tech to help. She was very nice & helpful. She recommended that I use my CD to install new maps because the difference between the download & CD was not worth the time to download the maps.
Pros: it gets you where you want to go. Cons: sometimes takes you in a round about way. Recommend: YES

GARMIN FORERUNNER 305
I've only had the chance to use my new Garmin a few times, but from what i've seen I like it. I ran my first half- marathon without any GPS, just a stopwatch, so I bought this Garmin for my next big race. I think it's going to come in very useful in my training, so that I can reach my new goal time, and get a new PB in my next half-marathon.
I was a little concerned about it's size from reading reviews before I bought my new Garmin, but i'm happy to say that it's not too big at all. It looks to about the same size as other GPS products that i've seen.
Pros: 4 way split screen so you can see multiple items Recommend: YES

RAM BASE BETTER THAN MAGELLAN
I have had my Magellan GPS for at least a couple of years and I appreciated that Magellan's suction base was of very good quality and held on very well. So, I was a bit concerned when I ordered the RAM suction base, which I needed to facilitate the transition from motorcycle to car (for the GPS). No reason to fear! The RAM base holds on as well or better and it is easier to affix with the twist lock mechanism. I'm really happy with the change to the RAM mount for motorcycle and car.
Pros: twist lock easy, excellent adhesion Cons: none. Recommend: YES

USEFUL
STARTUP and satellite acquisition extremely fast compared to previous models. Firmware is very powerful and efficient. Screen clear and detailed without glare. GOOD CABLE
I used this cable to connect my GPS to the accessory outlet on my BMW motorcycle, using a BMW accessory plug installed on the bare end of the cable.
It works great, I had to shorten the bare wire end quite a bit, however the other end - from fuse to mini USB - cannot be trimmed, which is unfortunate for me as that portion is a bit too long for my purpose.

THINK TWICE ABOUT THIS
I have now had this unit 6 months. I would like to say trouble free months, but that would be lying. Bluetooth connectivity is somewhat sporadic. It still will not connect to my car radio, had some success with my helmut headset and phone. The RoadTrip software does not transfer data correctly. You set up routes and transfer them to the Zumo and all that shows up is the waypoints. Lastly, it has been plagued with "memory full" errors even after I deleted all the waypoints and favourites from the unit. It is recently losing satellite connections and is unable to re-establish. This is on route that had no problem 3 months ago. Overall, I paid top price for this and it is worthless after 6 months. Undermines the Garmin quality name.
Pros: large screen, easy controls. Cons: read the text. Recommend: NO

BOUGHT FOR GEOCACHING
Quality build GPS. Functions galore. I bought this for paperless geocaching, and it does its job.
Pros: Fast pick-up of satellites, Profiling switching from car->geocaching with customizable menus, Paperless caching, touch screen.
Cons: Should come with screen protector, $100 for additional maps? Really? Google Navigator Maps = FREE just so you know Garmin, Typing in comments is possible but annoying, lack of updated instructions but internet oregon wiki site helps.

BEST HANDHELD EVER
This GPS is very functional for military personal as it is rite there when you need it. Whether you put it on your wrist or mount it on your rifle, the grid you need to call in a "9 Liner" is no more than a foot from your nose at all times. The goto button is another great feature. Great product at a great price. Sorry to see it discontinued.

DIGITAL CHART FOR THE CARIBBEAN
These charts fit Garmin into a GPSMap 76 and are a fabulous resource to any one sailing or boating. Some of the larger charts are not as accurate for the Caribbean and they are for, say the Pacific Northwest. Perhaps they have not been updated. But the close in charts are accurate and great.

RECOMMEND FOR SURE
this unit is a very easy unit to use. User interface is very intuitive and quick to pickup on. the profile selector is nice and easy to switch the unit around depending on what you are doing. 3-d streetview makes this almost like the units designed just for the vehicles (without spoken prompts).
My only problem so far with this unit is of course battery life, however it is no longer a problem for me. Initially i was using alkalines and mid range rechargables with only about 2-3hours of life on a set. I have now switched to 2600mah high end batteries and full digital charger and now i'm getting 10+hours with normal use...
awsome unit for recreational and geocaching, good unit for road nav.
Pros: easy interface, rugged Cons: manufacturer needs to recommend high end batteries Recommend: YES

DASHBOARD FRICTION MOUNT
EXCELLENT MOUNT
Really easy to use, just stick the original suction cup mount on it and place on the dash. It provides greater security as there is no tell-tale ring on the windshield where the mount would normally be and the unit can be placed somewhere totally out of sight. It places the GPS closer to you thus making it easier to see and make changes. This is a good base and an excellent price compared to others that are out there. This is the best product I have buy for my GPS. I drive from Québec to Florida and the super grip does't move at all. I bought 2 for my daughter and my brother in law for chrismas.
Pros: no suction cups needed...but not perfect!! Cons: some time on the dash, the suction seemed to fail Recommend: YES

GREAT FOR GEOCACHING
I had originally purchased an Oregon 200 from Costco in what was a great deal. I loved the featureset of the 200 but found that the lack of a 3-axis compass was a real problem when caching. I also found we were always forgetting the camera so when I found the 550 and decided we did in fact like geocaching, it was a must buy!
Having used it for a month or so now, it's pretty well as I expected (esp coming from the 200 model). The interface on this line really is brilliant. So easy to use, has tons of great features for paperless caching. I also find the on- road navigation is not too bad either. Despite having no voice prompts, the series of "R2D2" chirps and whistles soon becomes clear when it's saying "turn here right now!".
My only problem has been the reception in deep cover. On a recent expedition with some friends with the GPSMAP models, they were consistently getting 3-4m resolution whereas I was up in the 20s! It made finding the caches a real challenge. There is also the well documented WAAS issues with this line which seems like a software issue to me.
All that said, this is a pricy unit but I would buy it again. The featureset is brilliant and having the camera built in just seals the deal for me.
Pros: great geocaching features, interface, camera Cons: poor reception under deep cover, waas issue Recommend: YES

FANTASTIC MOUNT DESIGN
I picked up this mount at the same time as my Oregon 550. What a brilliant design. I use my Oregon 100% for geocaching and with the easy snap-on, snap-off design it's easy to quickly hop in and out of the car when on a cache run.
The windshield mount so far is proving to hold very well even in the cold temperatures. Have to see how it works as the winter wears on.
Pros: cheap, great design, easy on/off removal Cons: none Recommend: YES

If you've got any experience with RAM mounts then this one will be no surprise. I'm using it to hold a nuvi 1390. It's rock solid and still releases easily enough when I'm done with it.
