Easily look up addresses and services and get turn-by-turn directions that announce the names of exits and streets to your destination. Also receive automatic corrections if you stray off course. With Garmin Mobile PC, you can upload custom points of interest, such as safety cameras, and conveniently navigate to Outlook Contacts.

Plan Ahead
Garmin Mobile PC includes advanced navigational features to take the worry out of traveling. With route planning you can save routes, specify via points and preview simulated turns on your computer. In addition, Garmin Mobile PC automatically sorts multiple destinations to provide an efficient route for errands, deliveries or sales calls. A trip computer automatically records trip data and a trip log provides an electronic bread crumb trail, so you can see where you've been on the map. Even avoid certain roads or areas.

View hotel rates, ratings and amenities information from hotels.com. Check the status of your flight along with departure and arrival information. Even compare local gas prices when out and about. These free, real-time services from Garmin Online put essential travel information at your fingertips.

Purchase the Bundle Right for You
Garmin Mobile PC is available with or without a GPS sensor depending on your laptop configuration (see series tab). Purchase Garmin Mobile PC software on DVD separately if your laptop already has an internal GPS receiver. For laptops without GPS, Garmin Mobile PC comes bundled with the GPS 20x sensor, a sleek, thin, high-sensitivity USB GPS receiver.

PRETTY GOOD

I have also used iGuidance and Streets and Trips. I was intrigued by all the highly rated garmin products so went with the 20x for my netbook. I expected better graphics and am disappointed. They are just adequate for the area I work in, outskirts of Calgary AB. The graphics for the University campus are poor as well so I expect I'll find other shortcomings. The residential area where I live is very good. I have to keep the Garmin 20X, I don't have a return option otherwise I would be exchanging it. I am exchanging my netbook for a higher quality and slightly bigger one so I am hoping that will improve the brightness. My netbook is difficult to see when it's bright out so I'm considering swapping it, I do have the option.

MOBILE COMPUTER GPS

Pros: good functional layout
Cons: occasional software lock up
This product met my expectations in all respects except for the occasional time when the software suddenly ceases to function and has to be closed and reopened. I like the ease of use and the accuracy.

GREAT, BUT BE CAREFUL...

Pros: easy-to-see screens while mobile, even on netbook
The product works fine and the user screens are well done, but - the cable seems too short for easy mobile use (add a USB extension) - the GPS20x is not NMEA format, so to use it with other NMEA programs you have to find and use Garmin's Spanner.exe to translate to NMEA and send it to a "virtual" COM port(s)(neat idea) - if you buy Mobile PC with the GPS20x, you can't use other GPS's (but no unlock key is required) - if you buy Mobile PC without the GPS, NMEA units should work fine (software unlock key is needed?)

GARMIN MOBILE PC WITH GPS 20X

Pros: good gps unit
Cons: limiting software
GPS 20x is a good GPS unit. The Mobile PC software leaves something to be desired. It is essentially handheld software on a laptop. The options that were available on n'Route are not in this software. Things like repeat prompt using space-bar, or setting level of prompts are not available in Mobile PC. For n'Route users like myself, this will be a disappointment.

GENERALLY GOOD BUT QUIRKY

The Garmin software is exceptionally easy to use and the GPS receiver works very well, even indoors. The maps are a little out of date and if you drive on roads that the software does not recognize it goes berserk and eventually locks up the computer (Vista). It also has no "pause" option so deviations from the route get you whined at by the software. It needs a Pause and Resume button (F Function key?) that allows you to stop the software and then resume it when you get back to its expected route. It is, however, generally accurate if the do what it wants you to do.

ALMOST

PRO: The GPS 20x Sensor works very well. CON: Unfortunately, Garmin does not allow "ALL" of their great maps to work with this sensor. CONCLUSIONS: It's just not worth it to drag a laptop around. I would skip this unit as an all purpose GPS moving map set up for mobile purpose (Car or RV), unless the laptop is a miniature 7" screen type that works on 12 VDC only!
