Add automated street routing with turn-by-turn directions to your Magellan GPS handheld receiver!
Magellan MapSend DirectRoute is a major advance in mapping software, guiding you to your destination by adding detailed street maps, automated street routing, turn-by turn visual guidance and audio prompts to the Magellan GPS handheld receiver you currently enjoy for outdoor recreational adventures.
Now you can use automated street routing to navigate to your destination, go exploring, mark waypoints and track points in the outdoors and find your way home all on a single Magellan GPS handheld receiver.
MapSend DirectRoute makes getting where you’re going even easier using your Magellan eXplorist 210, 400, 500, 600 and XL, Meridian Color, Meridian Platinum, Meridian Gold, or Meridian Marine, SporTrak Color, SporTrak Pro, or SporTrak Pro Marine GPS handheld receiver.
Simply enter an address or pick a destination from popular landmarks and you’re on your way!
Turn-by-turn directions
Enter your destination and MapSend DirectRoute automatically calculates shortest time street routing, giving you turn-by-turn directions that can be viewed on your map screen or in a route list. Shortest time routing is based on the length of various street path choices and the posted speed limits on these street paths.
Visual and audio prompts
As you walk, ride or drive the city streets, MapSend DirectRoute beeps and the screen shows a visual prompt to let you know when to make the next turn.
Three ways to enter your destination
Enter your destination using the GOTO key on your Magellan GPS handheld receiver
- Select from a list of Points of Interest (POI); e.g. ATMs, Gas Stations, Hotels, etc.
- Key in a street name or address
- Use the cursor to pinpoint your destination on the map
Note: Don’t attempt to enter information to calculate your route while driving, walking or engaging in another activity that requires your full attention.
Easy rerouting
If you miss a turn or take a detour, the GOTO key on your Magellan GPS handheld receiver will quickly recalculate your route.
Comprehensive maps
It’s easy to define regions on your PC and download detailed street-level maps of the U.S. and Canada¹ in areas as large as 64 MB. MapSend DirectRoute uses top quality street mapping and Points of Interest from NAVTEQ.

Extensive Points of Interest
Select your destination from thousands of Points of Interest including hotels, gas stations, tourist attractions, parks, lakes, amusement and entertainment venues, restaurants, and more. MapSend DirectRoute includes important information such as addresses and phone numbers for most Points of Interest, making it easy to call ahead for ticket information and reservations.
NOTE for Magellan Meridian and Sportrak User
Magellan Meridian and SporTrak receivers must be running version 5.0 software or higher to use MapSend DirectRoute. All mapping eXplorist receivers are already fully compatible with Direct Route. At startup, your unit will display the software version.
