My new laptop is a Fujitsu Lifebook running Windows 7 with only USB ports. Is your GPS Serial to USB port cable, part # 010-10310-6, the proper cable to conect to the serial end of the existing cable for my Garmin GPSMap 76 for loading Garmin BlueChart Americas and MetroGuide Canada maps to the unit? The GPSMap 76 is a back up unit for a Garmin 276C that I have. I am already uploading the Garmin maps to the Garmin 276C. Will the software for this cable interfere with the transfering of the maps to the 276C that I am already doing?

Hi Ric!

Yes, this is the right cable to transfer maps to your GPSMAP 76. I cannot confirm whether or not it will work with Windows 7 though.

No, the software for this cable will not interfere with any transferring of maps to your 276C.

Hello Ric,
I just wanted to mention that the GPSMap 76 only has 8Mb of internal mapping memory that is not sufficient for use with Bluecharts. You will be able to get a couple charts loaded but not your whole area. I recommend if you are looking for a better back up GPS for your 276C to look at the units that use memory cards. You wont have issues with not enough memory with them.

To load you Bluecharts into the GPSMap 76 or another GPS unit you will need to buy an unlock code for it. At this time you can buy them through Garmin. Please contact us for more assistance.

Have fun boating!
