Will there be a way to build routes on your computer and import them into this GPS?

@GPS City: Will you be able to test this functionality when you get one in hand? This is critical feature for me. Thanks!

We have tested the nuvi 3790 and it does not do importing of routes. I really dont think this one will either. You may want to investigate the Zumo 660 series

actually, Garmin support confirmed to me that this unit WILL allow importing of routes using the new BASECAMP mapping software. The word was that because of the internal routing algorithms Mapsource will no longer be used for importing/exporting routes and instead future development will target the BASECAMP software. It's a free download.

After testing they have fixed the new 3490 so it can take routes using Basecamp. WE Just got them today.

The real questions is do the Basecamp routs just go into trip Planner? Has TP changed so you can run a route from start to destination, with way-points in the middle?

The routes will be saved in Trip Planner. Trip Planner will run the route from you the start location to the end location like normal

Will Basecamp read my old Mapsource data so I can import into my new unit or do I need to take my old unit, send the waypoints/favorites to Basecamp and then to the new unit?

If the data is saved as a .gpx file it can be imported into Basecamp and then to the new GPS.
