How to create custom routes?

I like to use the AAA online triptik software, and (similar) Google maps "get customized directions" applications. I use them because they easily allow you to drag the selected route to what I want it to be.
For example, my Garmin 3750 selects what it thinks is the best route. I know from experience that the route that Garmin selected, A to B via C, is not the best way to get from A to B, but the best way is A to B via D.
Is there any application that works like the AAA/Gooogle drag & drop routing that I can use to plan my route on the PC, and then download my personally customized route to the Nuvi 3750?
I was looking at a Garmin "Trip & Waypoint manager" but the 3750 is not a supported unit. I also looked at the Garmin "Mapsource City Navigator for North America...NT DVD 2012, but it has maps in it which I don't think I need since my 3750 has maps in memory (I have lifetime updates).
If these are not going to do what i want, I guess I will have to use AAA/Google maps, then plug in towns that follow the route I customized into the 3750 to sort of force it to navigate the way I want it to.
Thanks in advance.

The 3750 lacks the feature to make custom routes on a computer then transfer them to it. All routes need to be created on the unit. I suggest using more via points to have the unit go the route you want.

1. Can you recommend a unit that does have the capability of taking routes from a computer? (For future purchase information).
2. Is there a specific name to that feature that I can focus on when shopping for a replacement unit?
Thanks

I should have also said, this is for auto travel, so the unit should be similar to the Garmin 3750.

The nuvi 14XX and 13XX units will have that feature at this time. They are not as nice and slick as the nuvi 37XX series. Another model is the Garmin zumo 660 or zumo 665. They will allow you to create a route on a computer.

There is no specific term for the feature that I know of.
