A few days ago, my 2460LMT started shutting off repeatedly at the "Navigate" screen when I told it verbally to "Go Home". Later it would shut off at the "Go" screen anytime I entered an address manually or from Favorites.
First of all, I tried a software update which did not help that situation.
Secondly, I did a map update just because I noticed one was available while I was updating the software.
To my surprise, the map update seems to have fixed the shutdown problem! I haven't been on the road yet to be sure.
Any ideas how that could be related? The previous map update was done in June, so it wasn't ancient.

When you do an update the operating system is updated along with the maps in most cases. So if there was an issue it would of been fixed with the OS (firmware) update that precedes the map update.
