Adding Maps? Internal memory or SD?

Hi. I just bought the 265WT. It is preloaded with City Nav maps, but in Basecamp if I bring up the Map Installer none of the City Navigator maps are selected. If I select them all, it says I do not have enough space. I also have Topo v4 Maps. I'm worried if I copy some maps, it will remove all the other maps?

I emailed Garmin they replied: "The City Navigator maps are already pre-installed to the Nuvi. Loading the maps to your device with Basecamp will cause the maps or part of the map to be installed as a duplicate. This would lead to duplicate results when searching for addresses and points of interest. I would not recommend sending any maps to the device with Basecamp to avoid the duplication of results and limiting of free space."

What is the proper way to leave all the City Nav maps on, but add other maps at will? Thanks.

Hello Cory,

For the Topo maps, you should load those on an external memory card only. You should keep the internal memory empty for map and firmware updates.

Cheers
Jordan

Thank you. I will try this. The manual doesn't say, is there a memory card size limit? I don't want to buy a 4gb card for example and it only supports 2gb. Also it is an SD size slot, will it support SDHC, as you can get 8GB cards for that? Thanks.
