Original question asked on Nov 7, 2011, 11:32am
1. Is there a volume control to this unit? I do not see any toggle switch at the side.

2. When I buy this Garmin unit (in Toronto), does it work straight out from the box or should I hook it up to my PC to get the map update?

3. Can I use a simple mini-USB power cable to charge this unit? In my car, I already have a mini-USB cable (from Motorola)for my cellular handset?

4. How does this unit compared to 1450LMT? There have similar functions.

1. Volume is controlled using the touch screen.
2. When you buy a GPS from GPSCity it will work out of the box. It does take a couple minutes to figure out it is in Toronto.
3. You will need to use the Garmin power cable because it also will provide the traffic updates for the unit. some third party cables will not work.
4. The 1450LMT is an older unit and a better choice would be the 2555LMT. The nuvi 2555LMT has a better search function and has enough memory for map updates which the 1450 LMT does not. You have to choose smaller regions with the 1450LMT.

What if I don't have the traffic cable on hand, can I use the 3rd party power cable to charge this unit?

Not all third party power cables will work. There is no list saying which will. You will have to test the one you have to see. It is best to use the Garmin cable for it will work 100% of the time
