Original question asked on Nov 24, 2011, 6:44pm
In the past I was used to create my own route on my computer using the latest Garmin Mapsource (City Navigator)?. and donwload them to my Street Pilot 2610. I needed to replace the 2610 and purchased a Garmin 1390 LMT because I was told I could use the Mapsource with it.The 1390 doesn't do it. I purchased a 3790 for the same reason and I still can't use Mapsource with it. Can I use my computer with the Mapsource , create and download a route to the 1490 LMT? Also, does the Basecamp software replaces Mapsource? Thanks you

The nuvi 1490LMT is a big screen version of the 1390 that you have already tried, it will not do external routes either. Here is a short list of ones that do.

zumo 660, zumo 665, nuvi 3490, nuvi 2595, nuvi 2495

All Garmin Mapping Handhelds. The Montana 600 is the closest one to a road navigators but maps and mounts are purchased separately.

Don't think this is true. I believe it involves using Maps - Import.....so do additional research to verify.
