You can't get the 2010.30 maps for NA with the full junction view on a 2GB unit. You end up with a reduced map and a tiny junction view. Doesn't matter if you have a micro SD card installed, Garmin has set their download to check the units built in RAM for available space.

Yes it does matter if you have a memory card. When downloading the map there is an option to save it to your hard drive. If you do so you can save the whole map on a 4Gb memory card after and not have issues with loading all of North America. You will need to download MapInstall also. Mapinstall can send the entire map to SD.

1. Download update but choose save to hard drive.
2. Use MapInstall to copy entire map to SD.
3. Put card in the device then turn off the internal maps in settings.

Unfortunately you will not be able to load the entire map onto the internal memory using the update program for it is not large enough.

GPS City,
I have a Garmin 1450 unit. Recently, I also encounter the not enough memory when tried to update the latest map update. I eventually installed the map to my PC and copied the map to a 16G micro SD. However, wehn I inserted the SD into my unit, the unit only see the internal memory map. Did I need to do any thing else to make the unit see the latest map in my SD? The latest map is on SD, under Garmin\gmapsupp. The internal memory map is located in \System\gmapprom.

I did download the latest update and saved it to hard drive. After that, I used Mapinstall to copy the entire map to a micro SD 16G. I inserted the SD into my 1450 however, I did not see the option to turn off the internal map to choose the map. I went to setting, map and info, I only see the internal map CN Norht America NT 2012.40. I did not see the latest map 2013.10.

How to setup the GPS unit to use the map in SD card?

You need to turn off the older map set in your nuvi settings.

Tools -> Settings -> Map -> info

If it still does not show the correct map you will want to call tech support for assistance. 1-800-800-1020
