GPX Files on NUVI 550

I just returned from an 8 day motorcycle ride using the Nuvi 550 as my guide. It performed excellently. However, When I went to retrieve the "breadcrumbs" of where I had gone, I found a single GPX file that was 1.6MB stored in local memory (not on my SD memory card). In looking at the file in MapSource, it looks as if it contained just about all 150 waypoints, routes. But it did not contain the initial 3 days of "breadcrumbs" for the trip. It apparently had overwrote (or wrapped around) itself when it ran out of memory. My previous ETrex GPS stored these GPX breadcrumbs on the SD card and kept each day separate for easier handling. Did I really lose the first three days of my travel? Is there a better way to handle and/or retrieve these GPX breadcrumbs from the Nuvi 550? The ETrex units seem more flexible in this regard unless I'm missing something.

If the track wrapped when it was full then you would of lost all data that was overwritten. Both on Garmins site and in the manual there is no mention of a track log limitation. Have you tried using Garmin compatible software to download the trip log to your PC such as Trip and waypoint manager?

Have you checked in the archive map in Garmin\GPX. My nuvi 550 put all old information in this map. I hade this summer a 6500 km trip in this memory!
