Original question asked on Dec 16, 2011, 8:25am
I have made a route on "Map Quest" and sent it to the nuvi. It imports ok and the imported file can be deleted, but I could not find a way to delete the original "Map Quest" file from the nuvi. Even with the nuvi connected to my computer, when I did a search for the file (including hidden files) it was not found. How do I find and delete unwanted "Map Quest" route files?

To help us answer your question correctly can you please clarify where it is that you are still seeing the "Map Quest" file. In your original question you mention you are able to delete the file, and it is not visible on the Garmin drive when connected to the computer.
Thank you.

After the Map Quest route file is exported from the computer to the nuvi, then using the nuvi menu it can be imported on to the "route list" (10 max). It can then be deleted from the "route list" using the nuvi menu, but the file remains on the "routes available to import list" and can be imported again. How can I remove the file from the "routes available to import list"?

For example:Send "Route-X" to the nuvi from MapQuest & import.
Return to the main menu, press Tools, My Data, Delete selected routes, check Route-X, Press Delete & OK. Route-X is deleted. Press back arrow, press Import routes, Route-X is on the list and the only option is to import, how do I delete Route-X from the import list?

In order to delete the route you will have to delete files in your GPS. We do not recommend doing this and are not responsible if the wrong file is removed.

You will need to go into the internal memory of the device and delete the appropriate GPX files in the Folder called GPX. You will need to delete the temp.gpx and the GPX file that map quest sent to your unit. I do not have the exact names so you will need to systematically remove files so be sure to back up that folder before starting. If you need assistance it is best to phone Garmin 1-800-800-1020.
