Hi All,

I have a Nuvi 1490LMT. I have used it for several trip to England and Central America. Prior to my trips I entered various destinations (hotels, relatives, etc) into my "Favorites". Prior to a recent trip I went to enter the hotels at which I was going to be staying into my "Favorites" but discovered that I had several hundred "Favorites". In addition to the ones I had entered (e.g. there are "Favorites showing as numbers (166.61, 19.22, 2.75,, etc.) and number/letter combinations (2011-08-10T08:42:06Z, etc). When I click on any of these it shows one of my Favorites previously entered (e.g. "Marriott Hotel Birmingham", "Aunt Beryl", etc.). There appears to be multiple entries for each. It is almost as if my unit is automatically saving waypoints multiple times. When I try and delete one of these new "number or number/letter" entries it also deletes the actual entry from my "Favorites". Any suggestions as to how I can delete all of these seemingly random Favorites and just preserve the two dozen or so that I have entered? Also, any suggestions as to how I stop this from happening. It is a pain to have to scroll through 100s of Favorites each time.

Thanks

That is interesting. Have you tried using Garmin BaseCamp to manage you POI's? You should be able to download them onto your computer via Basecamp. Then delete the favorites on your unit. Then delete the unwanted duplicates in Basecamp or back them up in a folder. You will be able to use the map to see them overlay ontop of each other to make it a little easier.

Update your GPS using Garmin Webupdater to be sure your Garmin is up to date.

Load your edited favorite list back onto the GPS using Basecamp.
