There seems to be something wrong with my nuvi 1490 (not sure if it is the LMT or not). Partway through a navigation, usually coinciding when I go over a bump, my unit will go back to the black "Garmin" screen and seemingly reload my location. It does not lose my directions, but the delay is rather annoying when I don't know where I need to go next. Is there a solution to this?

It sounds like the unit has a loose connection on the inside of the device that causes the battery to disconnect or something similar. It is best to call 1-800-800-1020 for troubleshooting assistance. If purchased from GPS City please free to call us to see if the unit can be replaced within our return period.
