The unit can be used in Jamaica but does not contain maps for the area. At this time we do not have mapping for Jamaica. I saw many maps online for sale if you Google 'Garmin Jamaica maps'

Actually, the North American maps now include Jamaica. I have used a similar unit with the same map set in Jamaica. The coverage is not complete but it is usable. I am originally from Jamaica and could find better routes than the GPS but it would be better than nothing for someone unfamiliar with the island.

You are correct Garmin did add Jamaica to recent copies of City Navigator North America. They did not release that information so we were unaware. They also do not sell the unit as having Jamaica.

Here is a list of the newly covered areas. You will find these in the updates for newer units.

Features detailed maps of the U.S., Canada and Mexico, as well as Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, the Bahamas, French Guiana, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Saint Barthélemy and Jamaica.

Is there a garmin repair centre in doha please? I switch my nuvi 1410 on but only the garmin opening page comes on and I cant get any further. Is there anything I can do?
