What is the difference between nüvi 3580LMT and 3590LMT? nüvi 3580LMT is currently selling at Costco Canada.

3580LMT and 3590LMT have the same MSRP of $ 379.99 USD at Garmin website. Only SKU is different: 010-00921-00 for 3580LMT and 010-00921-02 for 3590LMT.

Does it mean that SKU 010-00921-02 was released after SKU 010-00921-00 for whatever reason?

The difference is the traffic receiver included with the package according to Garmin. The 3580 will have the older traffic receiver. The 3590 will have the 3D traffic receiver. At this time 3D does not work in Canada but the 3D traffic receiver will default to the older service that works. The 3580 does not have the option of using the more advanced 3D traffic when you travel and when it comes to Canada. We sell the nuvi 3590 because it is more diverse. No sense selling a unit that will limit you when you travel.

Thank you for detailed answer Jordan. It totally makes sense. I thought 3D already works in Canada. I already own 3790LMT... guess I wait till 3D comes to Canada before upgrading to newer Garmin... 3790LMT works good so far.

You can purchase the GTM 60 to use with the Nuvi 3580LMT http://www.gpscity.com/garmin-gtm-60-digital-3d-portable-lifetime-traffic-receiver.html.

We do not have access to the nuvi 3580 but the traffic receiver is most likely a GTM-35 or equivalent.

Just picked up a 3580LMT at Costco yesterday. The traffic receiver is a GTM 36.

So, what are the advantages of the 3D traffic receiver in the 3590?

Thanks for any info.

Quicker traffic updates.

You will also be able to get better product support with the nuvi 3590 because it is sold by many specialized GPS stores like ours.

Garmin has changed the names of the services a bit. The cable in the nuvi 3580 from costco is the lower end cable.

New autoroute 30 that helps travelers divert montreal traffic has been open for 4 months now is not on the 3580 from costco. Why??

You will most likely have to update the map to show the autoroute 30.
