How to use the Garmin extras from the memory card?

After inserting a SD card, I downloading extras from Garmin's website however, when I turn on my Nuvi, I can't find them. (i.e.: vehicles). Do I need to do something special to get the Nuvi to read the SD card?

The extras should be downloaded to the internal memory of the unit into the correct folders. You will then find them in the appropriate menu in the GPS.
