I brought my device in Great Briton, just last month. I came home to Gibraltar uploaded every thing no problem, now I'm off to Australia but the maps won't download, I can't believe that there's only 272 MB free! I only put on the free updates. For this map I need 2684 MB. Just how can Garmin sell me a map that won't fit this unit? Can I use the SD slot to put the Aus/NZ map on the Garmin?

The Garmin microSD City Navigator NT Australia and New Zealand 2013 can be purchased on microSD format and put into the memory slot.

You should not load extra mapping into the internal memory of the nuvi. If you do you can loose your original maps for good. When traveling you should always load the maps on a microSD card or buy them pre-programmed by the manufacturer.

Thanks Tom and Jordan, I leave in a couple of days and have the maps waiting to download, I won't have time to buy an SD card from a web site, will any microSD work? I see that some have HD, will that matter?

Any micro SD card will work. I suggest a 4Gb or 8 GB card

How does it fail? the download stops, map fails to transfer to unit, unit cant unlock maps ....

Because you continue to have problems with the update you will need to contact Garmin via phone while at your computer doing the update.
