Are there any differences in hardware used in 3490LMT versus 3790LMT? Or its just a different software put into 3790LMT body that is different?

How compares visual performance of 3490LMT vs. 3790LMT? Maps redraw faster, anything else in terms of performance (UI redraw, Bluetooth connection etc.)? Or its the same as 3790LMT assuming it has the SAME hardware (CPU/GPU etc.)

I currently own 3790LMT and trying to decide whether it makes sense to upgrade to 3490LMT.

Thank you

Garmin does not release the specs for the internal electronics. The 3490 is a much nicer unit with the new navigation features such as the quick search bar in Where To?. They operate about the same speed but keep in mind the 3490 does more.

hi Jordan, thank you for answer.

Its a pity that there is no information about hardware in 3490LMT versus 3790LMT. It almost looks like a software update for older hardware that "does more" which brings a reasonable question about performance since how newer + more CPU intense software can perform better with older hardware? By optimizing code? It happens so rarely in the world of "Return on Investment" and "Investors Come First"? Probably they did it by overclocking CPU that is making the unit hot... I am software developer so naturally I ask these questions before buying a "flagship" model.

I think I will hold off with upgrade of my current 3790LMT to 3490LMT. Maybe till next model comes out which I hope will have a newer hardware and maybe even higher screen resolution.

Thank you again.
