The difference is the traffic receiver included with the package according to Garmin.
The 3580 will have the older traffic receiver. The 3590 will have the 3D traffic receiver.
At this time 3D does not work in Canada but the 3D traffic receiver will default to the older service that works. The 3580 does not have the option of using the more advanced 3D traffic when you travel and when it comes to Canada.
We sell the nuvi 3590 because it is more diverse. No sense selling a unit that will limit you when you travel.

I just purchased a 3580LMT from Costco, and it has the 3D traffic receiver (includes GTM 60 cable in the box):)Great GPS!

The nuvi 3580LMT doesn't come with the GTM 60. You will want to look at the number written on the cable where it plugs into the car. You will of received a traffic receiver that comes with a RDS cable and not the HD traffic cable.
