How to delete memory from the c330?

Is there any way of either adding memory to the c330 or deleting existing data in order to make space for map updates? I updated maps recently and now the unit doesn't have enough remaining memory to calculate long routes.

Thanks,
Rob

You can install map updates to a SD card that plugs into the side of the unit.

Thanks Jordan, done that. However, the unit freezes up either near the end or at the end of the 'Calculating' mode and will not draw the maps for routes of over about 2000km. Happens every time. Works fine for shorter routes, like NS to Boston, NS to Montreal. Won't do NS to Edmonton. There is over 900mb free on the sd card. Seems like it can't use what available on the sd card to draw the maps even 'tho it can read that they are there.

Thanks,
Rob.

To me it sounds like the unit has reached the end of its life. I would try a firmware update using the free program Garmin Webupdater. If that does not help then please feel free to contact us for a recommendation on a replacement unit.

Firmware is up to date but I reinstalled it anyway. The unit still behaves the same way, so I guess you are right, it has reached the end of its life. Does this mean that its ability to draw maps will become progressively less until it quits altogether, or will it continue doing shorter routes? Not sure what 'end of its life' means in this situation.

As far as a replacement unit, nearly all my gps usage is on a motorcycle so I am thinking Nuvi 550. The Zumo range is more than I want to pay and I don't need the auxilary bells and whistles that come with several of them. I'd be glad to have any other suggestions that you have.

Thanks for all your input. I appreciate it.

Rob.

It is difficult for us to say how the unit will preform going forward.

The nuvi 550 is a affordable unit that many people use on the bike. You will like it because it is very similar to your current GPS.

Thanks, Jordan. I will likely be ordering a Nuvi 550 from you guys in the near future.
